Re: Monks in the mosh pit, stage-diving Dalai Lama - Part 5

The Hammel trade was still a steal. Getting a pitcher of Hammel's quality without having to give any prospects in return is always favorable. I remember the mid-90's when Angelos was willing to spend. The Orioles went to the ALDS in 1996. Then he pushed out Gilleck and Davey Johnson.

Going from the NL to AL is always rough. It's always a crap shoot how it works out. The Saunders deal makes sense, even if it does not work out it was a move worth making.

Bundy is too young to come up this year, bringing up a 19 year old pitcher would be insane. He has not even played AAA ball yet. He'll start the 2013 season in Norfolk. He may come up next August or September for reps, if he is pitching well in the minors.

And where did Duquette find Miguel Gonzalez? Very impressive.

Guthrie wasn't going to outperform how Hammel has pitched, no. He was consistent though.

Then comes the Syd Thrift fire sale, and the "Confederate money" line. Yeah.....bungled.

Insane or not, it was still speculated in the media so yeah

Yes. But after a certain point, Cagney movies blend together for me...

I believe from the Red Sox farm system. Late bloomer I guess. But when I saw they brought him up I went "who?" ...just like when I found out Nate McLouth was on the team

Most of his roles are usually as a gangster. I think G Men is one of the few where he was actually a good guy?

Didja like it? It's said to be one of the best gangster films.

As far as Gangster films I don't know. But Angels with Dirty Faces is his best.

But as far as all his movies, Yankee Doodle Dandy was certainly different.

Definitely enjoyed that movie, and how the ending was so different. Did he genuinely feel scared or did he pretend to feel scared as a favor to his friend?

    How was it different?

That certainly is the point to the ending. You don't really know.

    It wasn't a gangster movie, it's a musical

I know, I loved it. I think Inception was like that, you didn't know if Cobb was still dreaming or not. I actually thought he wasn't because the top did shake a bit.

Oh. O_o Does Cagney have a good voice?

More could have done with the ending. The theme and the concept was really good but in terms of execution, the ending was let down. I can understand the ideals of Blue Junk and all, I felt it was rushed.

That's a bit different, but the same concept I guess. Inception's ending had a lot more bearing on the movie as a whole rather than just the main character.

Yeah it wasn't a long series. Also, the art was weird in places. Reminds me of Gantz in many ways.

Exactly. The Junk designs were good but overall, it reminds of Gantz and Zetman. By the way, I knew the moment I saw the last Junk appeared, who he'd be.

How did it have a bearing on the entire movie?

Who he was? Or what type of character?

Because it either meant the entire movie was a dream or not.

Oh. Thought it was real life, which went into a dream into a dream into a dream. If what you say is true, that means they were in a dream and went into a dream into a dream into a dream, where Cobb and the girl went into another dream or limbo. This is such a mindfuck!

Though I still think it's the real world.
