Magi Anime Discussion Thread

Anime-wise Kougyoku's and Sinbad's portrayal was/is the best until now, the show is doing an excellent job. I enjoy/like them more than their respective manga version.

Morgiana is a close second, her awesomeness is just that more visible when she's in motion

Not completely pleased with Alibaba and Alladdin yet but it's too early to make a judgement. The crucial parts are yet to come.

I don't know why but the defeat of Ugo hadn't the same impact on me like when I read the Manga.
Otherwise again a brilliant episode.
They covered 52 and a half chapters so far. Which means only 24 chapters till the end of this arc.

So I kinda wonder where this season will end?
Any ideas?

I'm pretty sure this season will end with the conclution of this arc (or maybe they'll include the "Alibaba-and-Aladdin-on-diet" chapters? omg please let that happen!).

I recall reading in an interview that the mangaka asked the anime-people to make the Balbadd arc the key arc for this anime season. So even if there are only 24 chapters left in the manga, it will probably be longer in the anime, to increase the emotional impact, I guess And we still haven't seen this mysterious "anime only"-character, right? I'm not sure if I look forward to that or not I usually don't want changes to the original

From the news we've seen before, some of the Eight generals have their own seiyuus right? But they aren't part of the Balbadd Arc from the manga, but of the Maharajan/Sindria Arc. So if they were going to animate or introduce the Eight generals in the anime, i think the anime will conclude not after the Balbadd arc, but of the Maharajan arc?

I wish though, that they will end the anime in the part(on the manga) where they set off to a new adventure.

Not really boring but there wasn't much noteworthy. What I disliked most is wimp Alibaba (it's the anime's fault though ) and the few scenes at the end didn't save it for me. I just hate seeing him like this especially when you know how awesome he becomes later. I noticed that it didn't bug that much when I was reading the manga but now that I know what's lying ahead it was really painful to see such a wimpy Alibaba

I agreed with you... This week's episode seems to feature more about Alibaba's suffering and also character development(?).. What made me upset the most is the part where Sinbad trains him on using his Djinn and about Djinn equip. that part, for me, seemed to be hurried. But I just love his and Cassim's interaction. Though I forgot what they were talking about... But Cassim's character execution is just perfect. I can hear LELOUCH! REALLY!

One or two more episode and we will see Aladdin and the Holy Palace and UGO-kun! Then next is ....!!

This is kind of spoilerish, but there was one noticeable change to the anime that I found interesting due to recent events in the manga, and I'm pretty sure it was the mangaka who asked for the changes;

The Weapon dealer has been changed from being a "random" person:


to being Isnan:



Since we later learn that Isnan has an important role in this manga, keeping his appearance and influence over a long time (even having ties with Solomon and Magnoshutatt, the addition that he also played his part in Balbadd's disaster, is interesting But I do wonder if this will have a inpact to the anime, if the story will be changed significantly or if it will keep following the manga as we know it...

Uhm, yeah, that's pretty much all I had to say Oh! And that I personally enjoyed this episode, the scene with Alibaba and Cassim was much more emotional than I thought it would be Oh! And...

Hey, episode 13 raw is now out !
And so Magi gets its second opening and ending. Both of them indicate that the anime will go beyond the Balbadd arc, until at least the 13th volume is covered.
Honestly I don't like the second opening much, I haven's had enough of the first and this one isn't as catchy and memorable. Or maybe it'll grow on me later. On the another hand, I like the second ending a lot, it's at least on par with the first.
As for the episode itself, there's a lot of ass-kicking, some nice animation, and a great use of various tracks. What's more, there's no censoring ! Definitely on of the most exciting episodes so far.

By the way, there is a rumor saying that a new Anime show by Bones would take Magi timeslot after Magi is ended, but once the show by Bones ends, Magi would return again.

Episode was good but I feel like they're favouring Morgiana nothing bad with that, it's just that she appeared more awesome than Alibaba here which wasn't my feeling in the manga.

Again the fights were quite good but I just can't shake this feeling of it being a bit too rushed. Just like when Kogyouku "killed" Ugo - good animation but the moment could have been so much more intense if they would take it a bit slower.

What do you dislike? Personally I don't think it's worse than the first OP. You can question the song but that's just personal taste. I like it

What I'm surprised with is that it seems to cover way more than the Balbadd Arc I'm happy to see that there's more stuff getting animated but I fear that they will rush things again. If they go as far as the OP is intending, that means they will have to cover around 50 chapters in 12 episodes (which equals to 4 chapters covered per episode if they go to the full length of 26 episodes).
