They made it! 5 Km (3 miles) to be exact… that leaves 65 km (40 miles)!


The scene transition here was awkward in Madhouse’s adaptation… not only did they skip the night scene, but it came right after the declaration of the current length and at first I thought they were imagining Masadora in front of them when in actuality they haven’t reached there yet but turned out that they did reach it! The OVA kept the scene (but Gon’s jumping animation model was way off!!)

This monster was in the manga, though the panel was too small (The ghost is filler). It didn’t show up in Madhouse’s adaptation

Gon vs Bubble Horse. The bubble that hit Gon’s elbow in the manga was dark colored which is an error since the last encounter indicated that the white bubbles are the ones that pops when it contacts a human aura and not the red ones. This error got fixed in Madhouse’s version, but not in the OVA.

The manga noted that Gon was after the horse for two weeks and Killua was training during that.

Biscuit is still having her chopped off pigtail. Her hair was a ponytail in the manga, while in the OVA she had it earlier at the first visit to Masadora.

The OVA skipped #3




Altering the aura ratio of offense and defense using Gyo = Ryu (The Crunchy subs uses “POW” as a power measurement.)





This part was in the anime, but what’s left out was the speed test to see how fast they can use Ryu to shift the ratio of aura

-“At the moment of attack, right fist 70, body 30!” – “This is Ryu, flow!!”

Panel 3:
-“Do this…”

-Biscuit: “… as fast as you can.”
-Gon: “I couldn’t see it at all!!”

-“Try it slowly at first.” – “But do it smoothly and precisely.”

-Gon: “It takes so long!”
-“13 seconds”


A brief explanation of “Flowing Dance” style is also manga only

“Flowing Dance: a sparring exercise purposefully performed at low speed to perfect the flow of each move. A low-level student cannot adequately parry a master’s moves no matter how slowly he goes, so it can only be effective when practiced between people of equal skill.”

We skip over the rest of chapter 142 along with chapters 143 and first half of 144 to wrap up the training in one go. Fine with me, this wasn’t the first time it happened, and it was done by the two.

In the manga we know that Gon broke 150 rocks and Killua was 190. Biscuit also mentions it normally takes weeks to break a hundred.

At least we still got his head in the bag even if it’s still a tad censored. All of this was missing from the OVA.

The transition between the ending scene and the ending theme ending was off because the scene stops in an instant and plays the song with no ending narration or inserting the first part of the song.

This week’s tutorial is about “Leave”

It was a good episode, but it could’ve been better if it’s not for some problems like the opening scene and the transition of the ending theme. The OVA on the other hand gave a bad taste in my mouth. Not only for the absurd censorship that I kept on an on asking how they could not get away with it when a morning slot TV anime can show even worse, but also from awful artwork!! Did they have a change of artists or something?! And since this was a Nen-based episode, the OVA dealt with it like it was nothing important. It's just "Here's an ability's name, here's how you do it, go." with no break to and in-depth view like how Madhouse handles it.

I think the "ahoooo" wouldn't have fit the scene with the Ryodan.

It didn't disturb me but it was surprising.But i think the "ahooo" would have fit.

As for the ending, they probably just forgot to put the starting music lol.

I don't think they forgot. To make an episode you have to stare at it for a long time. Someone would've noticed. The wahoo probably just didn't fit with the Phantom Troupe, which isn't surprising. When I first heard "Reason" I thought there would be some scenes that the bleed in wouldn't work with.

The song only startled me a bit. The narrator started talking and we all know what that means.

^What I mean by 'forgot', is that they might've aswell aired the 'unfinished' version.
The song would definitely fit. And even if it wouldn't... I could remember episode 38. Now that's where the HUNTING FOR YOUR DREAM insertion definitely didn't go as 'fitting'. But they did in nonetheless.

Hey guys, sorry i've been away for a while. I bet i missed the Anime Awards too didn't i? That sucks because i put alot of work into nominating and supporting the shows i thought deserved the award. Oh well, maybe next year.

Anyway. Time for some HUNTER X HUNTER DISCUSSION! Usually i hate training arcs (Heavens Arena has been my least favorite arc. Everything besides the Gon/Hisoka and Hisoka/Kastro episodes were boring to me) but Gon and Killua's training was really awesome. So awesome that i was alittle disappointed when the episode switched too Bomber and the gang. Gon and Killua are like, really REALLY lucky to have found Biscuit. She's an amazing teacher. Some teachers are better than others, and while a teacher may or may not know what they're doing, some teachers may not be able to bring out your full potential or steer you in the wrong direction. Biscuit is amazing though, much better teacher than Wing. She fits Gon and Killua perfectly.

Also, why are Killua and Gon so awesome. If you apply the Nen system to real life, do you have any idea how hard it would probably be to switch from 80% Attack 20% Defense, to 80% Defense, 20% Attack mid battle? It's probably difficult as all hell, not to mention you've covered yourself in Nen the entire time and that's practically your life force right there out in the open. Yet they were going back and forth in their sparring match at extreme speeds. I know it's animation and anything is possible, but that's still very VERY impressive to me. Knowing that if you make ONE wrong move your entire body structure could get crushed and tore apart and they're moving at these crazy speeds. Idk, that was just something that really stood out to me and made me say "Wow...these kids are amazing"

Also, Dat Bomber... Now i realize that smile in the opening isn't a happy smile......it's a sadistic smile. Oh Hunter x Hunter...you never cease to amaze me. Props to MADHOUSE too. They showed the one guys head in a bag but they couldn't show Hisoka holding that black guys head in his hand during the Hunter Exams? Huh...weird.

I'm also glad that just because we've moved onto a new arc the previous arc wasn't forgotten. I'm loving the Phantom Troupe being apart of this arc. Those guys are awesome. They're going all detective right now and it really makes me excited to see what kind of confrontations will happens

Finally, REASON scared the shiz outta me. We're just sailing on a boat than all of a sudden "DADADADADADA MEMEMEMEMMEME AHT TAY YOUUUUUUUUU!!!" I literally jumped. I didn't see that coming. Nice one MADHOUSE. Anyway, Togashi's a genius. What more can i say? Hunter x Hunter FTW
