If the serie can survive the fatidic 2 volumes before being cancelled, being in Jump probably gives a power boost at the beginning of the serie. It sells twice as much as other magazines after all.

Being published in Jump might have been a big advantage in 1992. Thirty years later, I think the industry has changed. Serialization in Jump certainly has it's perks, it still produces more hits than other magazines. But in this day and age, with magazine sales in decline while tankobon sales are soaring, serialization does not seem like the key factor in developing a fanbase. Fans seem to find series by the volume now, rather than by the chapter.

Like Fairy tail sells half mill, but if it were in JUMP it would probably sell a million...
It could also have been axed after 18 chapters... no try to speculate. One thing is sure. Being in the same mag as Naruto, Op could give it a huge visibility but makes it also harder to survive.

I actually would like to see a Part III of Naruto, with a shorter span and focus on Sasuke/The end. A time skip could bring a bit of progression and development, which the long ongoing war misses. If he also give Naruto as much power as he did in Part 2 at the beginning, then there also woulnd't be a power problem with future opponents.

Regarding the coherence and plot holes kaiten, do you have a list anywhere to read for that? I tend do forget stuff and like these analysis and information about series.

Shingeki is in a low circulation magazine but still among the most popular action manga, also outselling Bleach, without benefit of an anime (at least until April).
Fortunatly the other magazines manage to have serie that sells. It may be just my impression, but I believe there is a benefice to be in Jump for series like Kurogane or Magico, most of their volumes charted at least the first week in the oricon. I don't think that the case for their magazine or sunday counterparts.

There definitely is some benefit to being in Jump, I can't argue against that. Just look at the number of current, charting series for proof. Only I think that the benefit now is less than it would have been in 1992, or even 2002. Sales can be relative though. Shounen Magazine might ask for less than Jump expects. Kurogane or Magica might not have charted so quickly, but they would not have been canceled after a year either. Neither looked like hits in the making with Jump, their sales did not improve with time. In another magazine they might not have ever become hits, but they would have at least being able to carry on selling in lower quantity.

I think Gintama is supposed to be between Beel and Medaka.

I guess that's it for the pimping Hungry Joker talk.

I was really wanting to know about that.
Kiruko and HJ was really being UPed by the editors and all that stuff... is all that true?

I really don't want both to be canceled. Principally Kiruko-san.

And so continues the push on the new generation. Not that I'm complaining, can't wait for the nisekoi cp.

    World Trigger looks interesting.

No, they weren't. This is Hungry Joker's first ranking, last week was Kiruko's. Kiruko did pretty good last week, miserably this week. I wouldn't get my hopes up for either, both fell to the bottom pretty quickly.

Woo Bleach in the Top 5, very happy about that. Nothing too disappointing this week on the TOC as the mangas I care about avoided the bottom 5 for the most part. Gintama is making me nervous though.

Promotion for the HxH movie on the cover, yet no news for the manga's return? Boo.

With Edison being yet another gag manga, it's going to face very stiff competition. With Kusuo Saiki and more classical favourites here to stay, it'll compete under no less pressure than what Retsu has faced over the course of its run.

Nobody should be surprised if Edison gets cancelled not too long into the future.

Whether this manga ends up surviving or failing, I'd really like to see what it has to offer first.
