Already for Kiruko? Is there any information on Souma and Hungry Joker?

It's a new award made by japanese bookstore managers. Nominees are "recent" series (<8 tankobons). Last year winner was silver spoon

That's why I said "not always". What I meant is that usually mainstream/childish sunady morning anime is usually poor in quality (One Piece is an example: a good show, but sincerely could be better).

That isn't accurate. Late-night anime "lives" from its sales, not from its broadcast, but that's because they depend on DVD/BD sales almost exclusively. Series like Pokémon, DC or Toriko doesn't "need" the DVD/BD sales to survive, they rely on things like merchandising, videogames, manga and lots of other things.

And how do they claim the winner of the Taishou award?

Is it just a personal preference or based on the opinion of the quality? Which series exceeded their expectations? what does the the award symbolize?

The movies sell very well, the TV collections generally don't chart. As Ikzer pointed out, the economics are to different to compare.

Number of episodes can make a visible difference in animation quality. If money does not need to be spread over an entire year, the budget for each episode can be higher. A 12 - 24 episode anime will usually have a lower total budget than yearly anime, but a higher budget per episode. This allows animators to avoid the most notorious animation cliches (moving backgrounds, stationary characters). Late night anime never last a full year, while daytime shows often do. Thus many daytime shows have lower per episode production values. Daytime shows usually target younger audiences, who usually are less critical, less demanding, and more loyal.

Debating the quality of shows based on the time they air is silly. Compare the quality of specific shows, not blocks of time. A few crap Jump adaptions (like Medaka Box) probably are not the best basis for comparison either. Even then, you would need to have watched the show to make any sort of quality judgment. It is impossible to form an opinion about something you have never seen.

The jury is mainly composed of bookstore managers whereas other prizes are generally given by editors

Well, the Shonen Jump website has just been updated as of a little after 1pm.

To tell you the truth, it's nothing very special. It's just a rebranding and the rest of the new stuff as mentioned on this list was already announced prior to the rebranding. Apart from One Punch Man, no new series had been announced to start running in the magazine.

Nothing special? REALLY? There's a survey for people outside N.A/Canada! That's very important, it shows that Viz is already planning their next big step.

It doesn't work. Is it region-locked for people outside North America or is it just down?

There are two surveys, one is N.A/Canada only and the other isn't.

i participates and hope it does well enough to get a world wide release. i read all the scanlations so i'm not bothered by a english only version. i guess scanlations for the "alpha" series are a week sooner, but not really necessary anymore for US citizens. Enough time to support lesser known series, but probably not the goal of these fast scanlators...

I don't believe it. Another gag manga?

Kurogane canceled to debut this manga called "Trigger Keeper"?
