Pretty surprise Bleach sold more than Toriko and HxH more than Naruto. Props to AC for coming fourth with its third volume

    it's first print not sales.

anyway i wanted to make sure HxH doesn't sell more than naruto to ask this : what are the factors they take into consideration when they decide how many copys they would print ? i mean if naruto sells more than HxH why increase the first print of HxH over Naruto ?
a story that can reach the hearts of people all around the world no matter what their culture or background is and be their favorite is truly and definitely a masterpiece . i hope you last a bit more Naruto. thanks Kishi for the most epic manga

That number is the highest first print any volume has had over the whole year, so it was probably earned by one specific volume that they had high expectations for. Presumably, Hunter x Hunter's best volume that year was expected to be more successful than Naruto's best volume that year, possibly because they believed HxH to be having a really good part and Naruto a less good part, I guess, and then this proved to be false. well, that's what makes the most sense to me, anyway.

edit: also I just thought, because of the hiatuses and everything, that volume might've been the first HxH volume in forever. Or maybe if there's not as many volumes per year as Naruto, they have more faith in the rare ones to come out.

Cross Manage still has a chance of surviving the next round.

Well, it'd depend on HJ's sales also. If it sells more than Cross Manage then it might survive.

    Cross → Kiruko/Joker → Date/Bulge → Takama

Hungry Joker didn't sell more than Cross Manage.

what ever get axed, the others will follow. all bad ranked series got canceled within their 1 year, like enigma, kurogane, magico and so on.

Ahh. Sad. People seemed to like HJ more than the other low ranking series.

True. In the end, no matter who survives this round, none of them will survive eventually.

To be honest, I expect Cross Manage to end naturally by the time the next round of cuts show up regardless. Maybe it's due to its low ranks, but it's just about reached the logical end of its story so far.

Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2012-2013] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 4

I don't read Cross Manage but how is it supposed to reach the logical end of its story?? Like I would think nowadays if an author's manga gets published in JUMP he does a lot of foreshadowing and stuff, I mean, surely Cross Manage has foreshadowed future events to come, this is oh so much easier with sport mangas, just show a member of another random opposing team doing something fan-servicy.. And there you have your foreshadow! I mean I can't think of a single JUMP sport manga that hasn't done that, its in practically all of them, heck the first page of Kuroko is just a huge foreshadowing of what is to come..

So did Kaito really just planned Cross manage to finish like in a year or less? Or maybe his editor already told him to basically to tie all the knots.

BTW the funniest foreshadowings have to be Masami Kurumada's foreshadowings in Ring Ni Kakero, when he shows the captain of the Italian boxing team, Don Juliano, he is an italian mafioso carrying a baby who is playing with a REAL gun and the baby accidently shoots and the bullet like almost kills Don Juliano but he doesn't even blink and then like everyone that was around goes like, "As expected of the Mafia boss and Italian Box captain, Don Juliano, he didn't even blink".. Classic.

Yes, Cross Manage lacks any foreshadowing of that kind that won't be resolved within the next few chapters. I've been reading the series through the official release, and they were hyping one particular player for quite a while, but they're literally the next opponent, which will be faced in literally the next chapter, and no chances will come up to play them again unless the manga continues to another school year, which I doubt KAITO will be in a rush to do with ranks this low, if he even gets the chance.

Death Note was only designed to be a certain length, but then it was extended for the purposes of the anime. In the Bakuman-verse, Ashirogi Muto's version of DN, Reversi, is designed to only be about 50-55 chapters and that's all it ends up being.
