it will be the manga for me after Naruto ends . right now i feel sad cause there isn't any manga that offers what Naruto has , and although i'm a huge fan of gintama and Bleach i don't think they will fill the gab . i'm sure a lot of people feel the same way ( Naruto has a huge hardcore fanbase )

Assassination Classroom volume 1 has sold more in 10 days than Bakuman did in 14 days. This should make it the best selling new series that Jump has ever had since Death Note.

Nisekoi volume 4 has had a 16k increase compared to the last volume which charted for the same amount of time.
One Piece volume 68 has a 200k-400k decrease in its second week compared to its previous volumes which charted for the same amount of time.

wow Assasination Classroom is rocketing . 200K in it's first volume , way to go.
Well Naruto has first to succeed its end. I don't think its ranks will decrease like Bleach one did but it is not in the position where it rivaled one piece anymore
Also it's not because a serie ends that it stops being selled. Of course the number can't compare but Shueisha will still earn comfortable revenues from its past hits. Also since jump editorial is based only on popularity there is no need tl worry for them. It's not like their hits compensate some experimental publications
Well, it looks like Ass Class is here for the long run. It's well on its way to the magic 500k point. This is the first volume so the sales won't taper out. They'll keep accumulating as the series gets more attention.
Interesting news. Niseoki is being added to SJ Alpha! Not exactly sure how their going to go about catching up but I guess since it's proven itself a success their willing to take a risk with it since they usually wouldn't go for this kind of series.
Hopefully Assassination Classroom will get added as well.
having a great end is tricky, whatever the author does some fans will be disappointed because things didn't go the way they want. anyways i think the end will be good. i trust kishimoto
as to rivaling OP in the toc ( though i don't see what this has to do with anything whatsoever ). i don't care how the big ones are ranked anyway , it's up to popularity in my opinion . OP will always have a place in the top no matter what oda writes the same goes for Naruto but not to the same extent of course.
a chapter of any other manga has to be brilliant for the fans to vote for it instead off their beloved OP or Naruto ( but not at all to the same extent ).
what i care about in the toc are new manga , Gintama, Bleach, Kuroko and AC

I actually didn't notice Reborn was gone from the ToC until I had to look again. I became so apathetic towards it I would skim over its position and a few other series.
Pretty good ToC this week with Toriko, AC, Kuroko and Nisekoi in the top 5. Sket Dance coming in just outside of the top series makes me happy too.
Man I was enjoying Koisome Momiji even though I saw the end coming. I'll miss it a bit. I can definitely see Kurogane being gone sooner rather than later. It looks like another one of those series that will last just a little over a year in Jump like P2, Enigma, Hokenshitsu and Magico. I intended to read it at some point but I probably won't get around to it now.
As for Medaka Box, I said a while ago I thought its story could be told within a 4-6 year window. 4 if Nishio continued to write at a condensed and expedited pace, 6 if he actually built certain aspects of it up. Right now it could and should end after this arc finishes and I'd be good with that. The anime(the 2nd season I still have to watch) should be finished by the time this arc is done too.
Keep in mind that calling this a risk is hugely underselling what Viz Media's been doing for the last few months. Barrage, Takamagahara and Cross Manage were all picked up after just two weeks, with no evidence of how well they'd do. Compared to Nisekoi's year of success, that's an INSANE leap. Especially when you consider that it hasn't paid off, with two of them cancelled already and the third flagging. Although of course we have to wait and see if those failures sellf well in the volumes, which'd... Well, it'd have pretty huge ramifications on how Viz can handle these risky licenses.
But yeah my point was Nisekoi? Relatively speaking, not a risk.
And yeah, AssClass would be great to see brought over. Staff'd have to work overtime making the language-based gags work though
2004 April 6~April 12
1. Prince of Tennis 23
4. Dragon Ball Kanzenban 33/34
6. Death Note 1
2004 April 13~April 19
1. Detective Conan 45
2. Prince of Tennis 23
5. Death Note 1
7. Mr. Fullswing 13
9. Busuo Renkin 2
And then fell out of the top 10 from the week after onwards. This was mostly due to Death Note being sold out everywhere, despite having an initial print run of 250,000 copies. It is hard to get a scope of where it is sold, because not many new popular Jump Comics released when Death Note volume 1 did.
But we can get a much better idea of how well it sold from the rankings volume 2 did. First week:
2004 July 6~July 12
1. Death Note 2
2. Prince of Tennis 24
6. Shaman King 30
7. Gintama 2
9. Busuo Renkin 3
2004 July 13~July 19
1. Death Note 2
2. Prince of Tennis 24
4. Shaman King 30
6. Ichigo 100% 11
7. Gintama 2
8. Busuo Renkin 3
10. Death Note 1
Death Note volume 2 also ranked 10th in its third week, but fell out of the top 10 afterwards. Death Note volume 3 outsold Bleach 14 which was released at the same time.
So Death Note was pretty much selling over 1 million copies by the time volume. 3 was released.

Woow, Zeromcd, where did you got that? I assume old 2ch topics?
Anyway I have always been curious about Shaman King last volumes.. Say 31 and 32, how much did they sold?
I don't remember where I heard/read but apparently it wasn't selling so hot (IIRC something along the lines of 50,000 volumes.. but that would be kinda low for a long running JUMP series.. but maybe that's why it got canned).
In every second week One Piece sold 600k copies so there is no decrease at all, the decrease in the first 3 days can be explained with the presence of weekends and holidays..Technically volume 68 was on sale just for a day of the three counted. Yes there is a little decrease, but it's not so dramatic.
