There aren't any publisher who manages digitad distribution in Spain... cos' it's not profitable.

Italy has no such thing. Also, several years ago there was an attempt to publish a manga anthology like Jump, with a collection of one chapter from each manga for every issue, but it flopped pretty badly, so I doubt there will be an attempt to do it with Jump series.

Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2012] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 4

Naruto was published in digital for a very brief time on izneo in France but it has almost immediatly disappeared. Shueisha does not sell its numeric right to the French editors. Maybe kaze will have a special treatment since it's the equivalent of viz but I don't think it will come anytime soon. Anyway the offer of izneo in manga is ridiculous compared to its comic catalogue. The only big serie that you can buy the volumes in numeric that I know is Fairy Tail.
The thing is that with a market that has come to saturation and japanese editors who can directly sell there own licence without having to pass to a third party, French editors are not in the same situation than a few years ago.

It just can be Cross Manage at the bottom. Only a miracle would do the contrary.
Geez, I'm already suffering in advanced. I'm cheering badly for Cross Manage's survival.

Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2012] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 4

I seriously don't understand the idea that in other countries different than USA and Canada their business is not profitable. Since

    1. I have the money,
    2. they have the product, and
    3. this is the globalization era with the internet and the virtualization of all business

... then, why can't I have that product on my computer?

Some management executive must be doing a bad job somewhere.

---------- Post added at 11:20 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:14 AM ----------

I mean, they are losing the opportunity to have my money, and I'm losing their magazzine. I don't need to read it in spanish or other language different than english. And for sure if they sell to the whole world, the problems with the copywright wouldn't be more serious than what they have been having all this time with scanlation...

Maybe I dont understand the business but.... I have the money, and business are about getting money

This has nothing to do with profitability. Licenses are sold to companies for distribution in specific areas...that or it just isn't cost-effective to sell something in a country in which they aren't based.

This is a bit different when it comes to digital media, but those licenses just don't disappear because what you're paying for is digital and not physical. It has to do with contract language as well.

Viz is owned in part by Shueisha and Shogakukan, so they can't be seen encroaching on publishing rights in other countries that they're being paid for. That wouldn't go over well.

Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2012] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 4

IIRC kaze france is owned by viz europe which in turn its owned by Shueisha/Shogakukan.
So the most likely country to follow USA/Canada would be France.
Though kaze doesnt have any of the big 3.
Beelzebub, kuroko no basket, blue exorcist, sket dance, toriko, ultimo, embalming, chopperman and rock lee SD are the titles they have.
I suppose big3, dragon ball, saint seiya and the other big licenses are in other publisher's hands.. And I guess they dont want to launch Wsj online with none of big3.

Uk is the most obvious place they even price their manga for it..

Portugal also has viz manga(the big ones, naruto, bleach, one piece...), so I'm hoping it comes sooner or later.
