On that note, I know the "still connected in your next life" thing was meant to be a hopeful sentiment, but is it just me that's debating how potentially shuddersome the concept is of Kei's future family being comprised of women he lusted over at some point in a past life?

/cue in sarcastic slow-clap
So in a single chapter Oku wiped out Kurono, and the story jumped from nihilism to magic souls and reincarnation, and suddenly they're out of the white room and no more god aliens.
Was there even any point to this 'meeting'?
I guess the only point for this meeting was to kill off kei >_>
the point of this manga is that there isn't a point. no plotting, no logic just set pieces and excuses to do stuff, and i like it the way it is. Naruto and Bleach seemingly has endless plots that began years ago and is only finding fruition hundreds of issues later, whereas Gantz is all about excuses to draw different sometimes awesome things.
That's wrong. There is a point, it could be badly written or executed...but it exists.
There is no point, the latest chapters just told us that. First it was a game manipulated by people & now the god-aliens helped humanity because they felt like it.
There IS a point. It's been said multiple times by many characters, but no one believed them:
Nishi : This is all a game.
Inaba: We're all just playtoys of God.
Sebastian: Why would God care about humans, barely above insects?
Then the God-aliens confirm it: We don't care about you, you are just tools we used against our enemies, and now your role is done since they are beaten and running.
The point has been said since the early issues, and the question each and every character, good or evil, has asked: What is the point of living if your existence is meaningless?
Some characters chose to fight back.
Some embraced the nihilism.
Some broke down.
Some didn't care either way and went about their usual sins and vices.
THAT'S the real point of Gantz. How people react in the face of total, utter despair.
Unless they're women. In which case they jump in front of the first laser beam or missile or dinosaur they can find.
