I think they finally managed to perform this attack mostly because three of them learned Food Honour, so they perform every ability better than before.
Also we should take in consideration that Ichiryu himself was able to perform such an attack but he didn't need much time. I believe it mostly depends on skill and experience. If you are used to do it, then you won't have that many problems.

I agree, it was strange to see Battle Wolf that big, but I hope Terry won't become that gigantic. As for me it would make him a bit weird and out of character. I like Terry like it is (not that big in size, but agile, fast and strong).
