- The Uchiha Clan all possess (except Itachi) the curse of hatred
- All the Uchiha possess the Sages powerful Spiritual Energy
- The Kyuubi said Madara had Chakra more sinister than it's own
- Madara was said to be born with exceptionally strong Spiritual energy even for an Uchiha.
- The Nine Tails has a shit load of hatred and the most chakra out of the Bijuu
- The Juubi Chakra was said to be extremely foul and it had the strongest chakra.
- The Senju had the Sages life force, but they all possessed the will of fire. This would explain why Tsunade, and Naruto have such large chakra. They possess strong life force and strong spiritual energy. In Naruto's case he a genius of hard work and possesses the WOF.
- Sasuke said to many bonds makes you weak and used this as an explanation for why he was abandoning his friends. He also explained to Naruto to breaking one of his stronger bonds (his bond with Naruto) he would gain more power. His strongest bond was a bond of hatred with his brother.
It seems Hatred and the WOF increase chakra capacity.
Itachi posessed the Curse of Hatred aswell. He just overcame it.
Once again, hatred nor will of fire increase your chakra, it just pushes you beyond your limits because your rationale is compromised and your sense of self preservation takes a back seat to your will. It's no different from someone overcoming their physical limitations to save the life of another person by say... lifting an overturned car off the person by themselves (it's happened in real life).
Sasuke looks like he's gaining more chakra from his hatred because the Mangekyou Sharingan gains more powerful abilities over time/through use of it. And Sasuke's always angry when pushing his MS further, so it looks like his Sharingan is responding to his hatred. It is, but it's not Incredible Hulk style "madder Sasuke get, stronger Sasuke get" type of power. It's simply "get angry, push yourself harder, overcome your limits, and then awaken a new power that comes from reaching said limits".
Also, no one's ever stated Sasuke's chakra was growing just from anger. Just that his body was responding to his hatred. Which is natural human behavior. People have said it's colder, and that it's as sinister as Madara's, but cold, nor sinister feeling are ways to quantify amount.

Though I will admit, since chakra is the combination of physical energy aswell as mental energy, one's mindstate could potentially effect how the chakra forms. But while strengthening your physical energy (by physical training) can increase stamina and chakra reserves... you can't really increase mental energy via training. Thus, there should be no way that mindstate can grow one's chakra.
What is interesting is that Itachi was not like Sasuke, he was not a hating mofo full of anger and what not.. So how did he got to have Susano to the level he did? Sasuke got it after his hate got to "9000"...
But i have to say Itachi is one of my favorite caracters in this manga, with Naruto, JMan and Minato.
I can't say i agree with the genocide, Who CAN? But man what he whent trough... and the last ... I would love you forever no matter what you decide to do, even spit on my grave... How about "i am sorry Sasuke but this is the last time" man that really got me.
It was only said that you require the double Mangekyou to use Susano'o. Neither Itachi or Madara share of Sasuke's hatred and mastered it.
Even Lee has a strong determination, but it doesn't seem that he has a greater chakra.
Jokes aside, I agree with was said above: it is a question of overcoming your own limits in order to become stronger and we have seen such thing with Sasuke during the Kage's meeting arc.
It would explain why Itachi put so much hatred in Sasuke.
Itachi put so much hatred in Sasuke because he wanted him to devote the entirety of his life to getting stronger for the sake of vengeance. If he hadn't chosen this strategy Sasuke would've fallen for Team 7's "Vengeance isn't the answer" tree-hugger crap and would have never reached the levels of strength he currently has (atleast that's what Itachi thought).
That's even more proof that hatred isn't the key to Uchiha power, and that it's not a tangible form of power. Itachi managed to gain Susanoo without relying on hatred and his Susanoo is still more powerful than Sasuke's. Well, kinda.Originally Posted by xXan
No, I didn't mean that Itachi thought Sasuke would be stronger with hatred. I meant that Itachi thought Sasuke will devote his life to obtaining power, thanks to said hatred. He wanted him to hate him so much that he would do anything for power, which would lead him to gain the Mangekyou Sharingan.
Determination has nothing to do with chakra, as ninjabot said. It's more about a person's willingness to go past his limits and risk death, like Kakashi being determined to protect Chouji from the missile. Or Sasuke wanting revenge so bad he managed to break the seal Danzou put on him. This can also explain why Itachi was able to survive so long and still fight evenly, at worst, with Sasuke despite being so sick and close to death. It also explains why Minato was able to stand and seal the Kyuubi in Naruto despite being nearly numb and in pain from the stab Kyuubi gave him.
Hell, it gave Naruto tons of power. It could have done the same for Sasuke too, maybe even more since he's a genius.
Tobi/Madara were a major threat against Konoha that Itachi could only keep passive by being alive. Once he died and passed his eyes onto Sasuke, he would have needed someone to take over keeping them at bay. Thus the reason that Itachi went through the trouble of filling Sasuke in on EMS and attempting to make it as if Madara was the only other behind the massacre.
As kyle katarn(Star Wars) said, abilities are not inherently good or evil, it's how you use them.
Madara probably whent with the dream world later in life.
