    Realized something disturbing

Since Gantz only copies the "data" of people, are all the other dead in the game stuck in a eternal loop unless they are revived? Which very well seems to be impossible now.

No it's more likely just a reboot of the person's final moments before they come back into being.

After all they still have to have their memories.

I'd have to agree with Damura; at that time they are re-awaken and they replay that memory just before they died and they are then brought back to the present.

I never understood why Oku fucked up this final scene, seeing as how the statue didn't kill kato.

    It was the alien itself.

It wasn't a fuck up? The alien didn't kill him in his little flashback either

I always thought of them or their bio info data in this case being stored in some kind of advanced fancy hard-drive. Only to be re printed in a 3d form by gantz tech when someone needs or request a revival. Sort of like how Nishi said something about fax's copying things.

    Re: Realized something disturbing

For me it's not like the last moments of a person being revived are replayed intentionally by Gantz.

I think Oku just did show us what it was like for a person being revived, and more specifically I think it was intended to confirm us that a person being revived or transferred are so before they were badly hurt (hence why Katou doesn't remember killing the alien inside the statue, and Kei not remembering killing the second, Bird-like alien).

Also, the person being revived is indeed only a copy, this means that for the original, their lives did stop when we saw it in the manga, but for the person's copy being revived, it's from the last unhurt scene, such as depicted in the chapter you have pointed.

He didn't fuck up, as grosbedo said gantz just brought him back from before this happened, if he had used the memory from after this point, right before the alien killed him, he would have come back without an arm, it's like when kei comes back from the tanaka alien mission believing he was still running to grab the bird, it's because after he defeated the bird, he fell hard and hurt his arms, so he had no memory of actually defeating the boss, and came back to the room in an uncomfortable position, and there are a lot of other times when they come back and ask if they won or something like that. It doesn't really heal them, it just loads the memory data from when they were whole, before the injury occurred.

just wanted to elaborate and show how it happened.

That's so true, I never realized that. I always thought to myself why did Kei lose his memory of Killing the boss during the Tanaka mission.

Yeah, it's also been said that the resurrection process is not 100% accurate, either, so sometimes Gantz gets a bit sloppy as to what point in their lives does he choose to bring them back. Sometimes he goes back a bit farther than when they ACTUALLY died versus at the exact moment of death.

    See: Kishimoto's mistaken resurrection.

If the original gets destroyed anyways, why does Gantz take the effort to deconstruct them bit-by-bit instead of just copy-and-explosion?

    ^

    The original isn't always destroyed.

Sometimes the body freezes during a transfer and sometimes the body is free to move around and stuff mid-transfer. For example, during mission 2 Kei was able to control both sides of his body during his transfer. Arms and legs to search the room for a weapon while his head was dodging traffic.

Why does it deconstruct them bit by bit? Well why not? You have to take the body apart somehow if you want to rebuild it somewhere else. It's just the way the technology works, I guess.
