This is what Obito shows to Nagato when he says he is Madara:
This is when he shows him self to young Kisame, first time:
And this is when Tobi reveals him self to Kisame:
If under that spiral mask was spiral face then Kisame must be most stupid character in the manga for not realizing who Tobi is before ))
Only real explanation is that it was Obito just like here:
Did he show him self to Itachi? Could he not recognize him, with scars and everything?
Why would he have Spiral Zetsu's face under his mask? If he was using Spiral Zetsu's body he wouldn't need a mask, because it's got a built-in mask.
I'm pretty sure that he started wearing the masks after he stopped wearing Spiral Zetsu's body.
And I'd also bet that he started using the spiral mask after Spiral Zetsu died somehow.
Kisame was tricked with genjutsu both times, without even realizing it.
Or the most basic ninjutsu of all, henge no jutsu....
Which is weird, since if Obito had used a genjutsu or transformation technique, then there wouldn't really be any need for a mask. He would have been able to go around looking like Madara and causing panic without any trouble.
is there a reason to believe that kisame knew what madara looked like at any given point? most people who lived during that time didnt know what madara looked like since they all believed him dead and had never seen him. if obito just shows even his own face with a sharingan and say that he is madara and if he is controlling yagura with ease, there is no reason for kisame to not believe that he is "madara". now fastforward into the present time when "tobi" took off the mask and kisame sees the same face he saw years before which claimed to be madara, there is no reason for kisame to believe otherwise after all it is the same face he saw twice. just once under a mask and once not.
i got the ANSWER
when tobi took of his mask, it wasnt to show his face... it was to show his left sharingan(aka-madaras left sharingan)
the left eye probably has MS too... if it has MS then kisame would know the person is madara/someone working for madara/ or someone who defeated madara...
explains how Amaterasu activate when it saw "madara's sharingan"
kisame was in akutsuki... genjitsu wouldnt fool him...

Another explanation is that Zetsu itself turned into Madara. Remember Zetsu can clone ANYTHING it has chakra of. So just have Zetsu play Madara for that instance and BAM you have Madara behind the mask and NOBODY can figure out the diference.
He couldn't have been wearing Spiral Zetsu during the invasion because you could see his hair and such coming out from the mask. Spiral Zetsu covers his entire head, like a helmet.
Or are you saying that Obito was wearing a wig in addition to the mask? I personally don't think so.
He eventually stopped wearing Spiral Zetsu and started wearing that flame-patterned mask, letting his hair remain grown out. He cut his hair when he attempted to invade Konoha. After that, he let it grow out again, as it was long when he attacked the Uchiha with Itachi. After that, he cut it again and kept it short.
If Kishi could come with a suit to explain size problems, dont you think he can explain hair jutting out of the mask? thats not an issue.
I think Obito showed Kisame his plan by pulling him into the same genjutsu Madara did. Kisame didn't actually know who Obito was. He got pulled into the genjutsu and listened to the moon eye plan and decided that he liked it, that's all
Of course it makes no sense to wear spiral mask over spiral face, thats why I ask what he show to Kisame.
ok, he could show Kisame his real face of youg boy with scars, and Kisame could not question if he is Madara or not, but what about Itachi?
Did Tobi show his face to Itachi?
