While I’m not surprised at seeing various Kuroko characters, especially Kise (yay! Second place!), I am surprised that Kagami didn’t make the list. I like him and I thought he was popular in Japan as well.

I'm interested in who these guys/girls are in particular, can someone fill the places where I have no clue about? Here's what I know:

I think I told you that the Kuroko anime gave the manga a huge boost? It's selling really well, it's ranking good and doujinshi's are selling/produced like hot cakes there will be a second season, without a doubt.

You should have watched sooner. I still remember Doku sharing a character poll where Chitanda was the number 1 female character and Oreki the number 1 male character. It sure was a great series!

Me neither and I honestly don't think the light novel portrayed her any better (not like her popularity would come from the LN anyway, as this is totally anime-based). The only reason I see here is because Asuna was pretty much only a damsel in distress for the whole second part....

Wow, Magi and Sword Art Online comprise most of the list.

I'm surprised that Lelouch and Lacus Clyne are on there since it's been a while since their respective anime has aired. (For Gundam SEED, it's been a decade.) Maybe there's a re-airing or a sequel I'm not aware about, but it's pretty cool just how memorable their characters are.
