I am guessing at the moment that Ymir is still alive, just exhausted, since it seems her and Ryner have some history to settle between them. Course now I wonder if she decides to defect to the side of the scouting legion what are the repercussions she will face. Then again it doesn't seem like she has much of an affiliation with the other side so to speak since I don't think she was lying to Christa/Historia about her reason for joining the legion (i.e. looking for her). One thing I don't necessarily understand is what makes the "dumber" (for lack of a better term) titans decide whether a titan is to be considered hostile or not? I mean they just attacked Ymir, as they did Eren, and if she indeed did belong to the other side (until we get confirmation) how do they identify or decide to attack certain titans? We know Annie had some type of command that worked for her but Ymir didn't exactly do anything of the sort other than being aggressive though these titans seemed to belong to another group, the one outside, still I do wonder how they identify or decide to attack another titan how do they even distinguish one another.

One thing though is that I guess we discover something about the anatomy of a titan. It doesn't appear that not all are built big or have the potential to be big. Here is looking forward to some answers though doesn't seem Christa is that aware of what the answers actually are. So that leaves Ymir but she seems out of commission and based on how long Eren sleeps it might be for a while. Long as her side doesn't realize she may have defected or given herself away I am guessing she will be safe for the time being... Yet, given how this manga loves to toy with us I can't help but feel uneasy about Ymir and the possibility of being assassinated, from her side or possibly Ryner.

Lastly, even if the scouting legion could use her the battle potential she wields isn't that good as a titan, sure its a notch above normal scouts, any additional fire power given their losses is a plus I guess. It would be useful for a last resort option for Ymir but its not going to be very good I think against other much better deviant human type titans, e.g. large monkey guy, Annie, armored, etc. So Eren being useful is still there, I laughed when he was like "OMG my first kill as a scouting legion!", he won't need to worry about being useless anytime soon XD. Her apprehension last time makes more sense now I think part of the reason she doesn't want to fight using her titan form, other than her belonging to one side that tries to keep their existence secret, is that its just not very strong and can't exactly act like a one man army. She also doesn't appear to be utilizing any skin hardening techniques, well she didn't use any during her battle, I wonder if she is incapable or just hasn't learned? Also her limbs don't appear to have regenerated which is odd since even when Eren was ripped apart in his titan form his human form would usually be in one piece (here is hoping Ymir is still alive in off chance she is dead).

The idea that Ymir HAS to be a member or former member of some other human-titan organization is erroneous. The fact that she knows about her titan side means nothing more than she has previously turned into a titan, and as we saw from Eren's initial transformation, it is possible to activate it without any conscious decision.

There are quite a few reasons to believe she isn't a member of some human-titan organization:
-No ability to control titans as we saw Annie and the Ape-Titan do.
-She does not seem confidant in her titan form. (I take that from responding "Dunno. I'm not sure myself." when asked what she is planning to do with the knife.)
-Her running around eating people in titan form is completely out of character for someone with experience in their titan form. (e.g. Annie, the Colossal titan, and the Armored titan). It is a lot more similar to Eren running around without control.
-Her lack of prepared item to allow her to transform into a titan. (e.g. she had to ask to borrow Connie's knife) Now, anyone being in possession of a ring like Annie's would immediately come under suspicion, but I would expect someone who was confident in their form or a member of a covert organization to immediately secure something. That could be nothing more than a sharp rock.
-Annie's flashback to what her father told her doesn't really make sense if she is a member of a human-titan community.

I'm actually thinking Ymir is a true blooded Half-Titan.

Not like Eren who received his power, as in Ymir being born with it.

We don't actually know how Eren can turn into a titan. The scene with Eren being injected by his father has multiple possible interpretations, and assuming that he was a normal human before that event leaves a pretty big void in possibilities to explain his crying at the start of the series.

Eren is as hilarious as ever in this chapter! My first kill! LOL. How cute. Hehe.

Comparing Eren and Annie's titan form to Ymir's the former looked somewhat "decent" or should I say more "human," while the latter looks monstrous. I wonder why that is..? Do their human form affect how their titan form will look like? Ymir doesn't have the best looks, so her titan isn't exactly "beautiful" or something like that.

Eren and Annie's titan forms had toned bodies and a certain human-like aura to them, Ymir's titan form looks just like those other fodder titans. I doubt Ymir is stronger than Eren or Annie in her human form or trained as much as those two, so that might explain the lack of offensive capability her titan form has. If there's any correlation at all.... not to mention that Ymir's titan form looks to be about 7m tall at most.

For some reason Ymir's titan form reminds me a lot of this monster picture book I read as child. I can't remember its name now...

It's also funny how the Titan that worships her devoured Ilse like any other human after finding out it's not Ymir, yet here we have Ymir protecting the trainees.

It has been over 24 hours since the chapter has been released, so I'm dropping the spoiler tags.

I'm wondering how this all ties in with being worshiped by a Titan.

It's also funny how the Titan that worships her devoured Ilse like any other human after finding out it's not Ymir, yet here we have Ymir protecting the trainees.

Two things to note:

-If it is possible to force people to transform into titans as what might have happened in Connie's village, it is possible that the titan that met Ymir was someone that knew Ymir previously. This would work with the idea that Ymir did not intend to transform into a titan and rampaged uncontrollably after the wall fell. She somehow was able to figure out how to transform back while this person did not.

-The titan that attacked Ilse only did so after she told it to "get lost from this world." and ran away when it appeared to go insane. Had she not said that, it is possible that it never does anything like that.

but,with the way he is squeezing historia's leg...he too must be an undercover titan....

Anyway, whatever was the reason i think it's pretty clear since the flashback in the last chapter that Ymir abandoned her clan/group/faction several years ago.

Also looks like Ymir's titan body is a 7m class with arms and head disproportionately large compared to the rest of her body.


By the way, Christa's name "Historia" means story in portuguese. Weird name for a person....

her name signifies her history/story yet to be told...

if ymir was this willing to die for her...this makes me want to know even more about her background.i wonder if the ape titan is an assassin that was sent to take historia or even ymir out?

A lot of names have weird meanings in other languages. That isn't particularly weird.

No. It would be impossible to predict the confluence of events that caused them to come into contact.
