I agree Neo, and his improvement from Vagabond 1 to the current Chapter (211 I believe) is also obvious.

    Chapter 212 is out http://www.sendspace.com/file/l77bdl

Unfortunately after this one, Inoue will take two weeks break, so no Vagabond for us. And what a place to stop:

Sweet. I'll translate it later this afternoon. Doesn't look like it'll be too bad.

Short summary, hell, the RAW basically says it all even if you don't know Japanese, but:

Thank you for the summary, zindryr. That would be Shinmen Takezo, Musashi's childhood name and the old lady is Osugi (I used to call her Otsugi for some obscure reason).

Actually, she calls him Akuzo. Takezo may be his real name, but she calls him Akuzo, (aku meaning evil). Did Viz not translate that? I remember reading the first few volumes of Vagabond and seeing her call him Akuzo.

    Re: Vagabond Discussion Thread

No, I don't remember seeing Akuzo in the Viz version. I'll look it up though, just in case I missed something. Did you read the raws or the translation?

Speaking of Osugi, her hatred of Musashi seems sometimes even greater than the love for her son, Matahachi. I'm thinking there's something to it. Maybe she wishes he had a brave son like Musashi instead of a lying lowlife like Matahachi. I mean, look how readily she believes Matahachi is Kojiro. Maybe deep inside she realizes how worthless her son is and blames it on everything but himself.

    Re: Vagabond Discussion Thread

I always read RAWs, hence my usual inability to be consistent with the English versions when I want to be. Check to see if Osugi called him anything like a devil or something of that nature.

In any case, yeah, remembering the earlier chapters that I did read, Osugi always seemed to talk about Musashi more than Matahachi in general. That's probably the case, considering she came all the way to Kyoto just to cheer on Denshichiro in the duel.

Re: [KO-Scans]Vagabond RAWS and RELEASES thread

Raws, translations and download sources for early volumes of Vagabond.

Keep in mind that updates will be in red.

Download sources for the early volumes of Vagabond:

HTTP downloads - all the volumes:

Now uploaded for your reading pleasure by yours truly the first 21 volumes Viz editions from Manga-Sketchbook:
There's been a problem with sendspace and all the Vagabond volumes were deleted. I don't have the time right now to reupload them, but will do so soon. In the meantime, get Vagabond from Mangatraders.com. Good site.

http://www.mangatraders.com/ - It's the best source, good speeds, you need to register but there's no crap like points and whatnot.

http://vnmanga.com/ - you need to gather points (forum posts and such) or donate to download without limits. Else, there's a daily limit. Don't know anything about the speed, since I don't have time to gather coppers or whatever they're called.

    Torrents:

    Manga-sketchbook's releases volume 11-20: torrent.
But there aren't enough seeds so I won't recommend it, unless you plan to grow old waiting for the downloads.
    Volume 21 - torrent

    MIRC:
Find all the scanlations (volume 1-20) on #lurk, server irc.irchighway.net. The pack numbers are on the website http://www.gotlurk.net. Please read the rules of the channel before leeching or you'll find yourselves good and banned.

You can find all of zindryr's translations here.

Here be the raws for anyone who wants them:

    Japanese raws

Well, Musashi is a true heart-breaker. Who knows what tender feelings Osugi harbored for him in the past? Love often turns into the strongest hatred.

In other, absolutely great, news, here's what Inoue Takehiko had to say in his latest update:

    Quote Quote:
I was in meetings all day yesterday and I've been in metings since this morning.
They were about Real 35th which I'm drawing this week, the Vagabond Illustraction Collection and other works... all really important things, so my brain's really tried now.

Here's a little about the Illustration Collection.

I've talked about it a little before, but we've decided to publish 2 books -- "WATER" which will be in color and "Sumi" which will be monochrome.

We decided on these titles not too long ago.
The reason why I decided on "Water" for the color collection is that even though most of Vagabond's coloring is done with color ink, the ink that is used has to be ixed with water first, which ends up making it over 70% water.
"Sumi" is just as the name implies.
Although to be precies, it is mostly ink, not sumi...

Vagabond Vol. 24 is planned to hit the stores in October, and we're aiming to have "Water" and "Sumi" ready to line up beside it in the stores.

THe meeting this time was about the direction of the collection and how to approach the images that will be its contents.
To be honest, there were some things that I couldn't nail in the meetings up until now, but yesterday I was able to capture everything while I was talking and felt that we had something that I could make work.
No actual work on the book has been done yet.
    That will be starting now.
For anyone who's to lazy to read, he's basically saying he'll give us two Vagabond artbooks (one in color and one black&white) in October, coinciding with the release of volume 24. W00t once and again! I'm definitely going to buy them. I might have to sell my kidney to to do it, but oh, well... Sacrifices must be made for passion.

I'm especially looking forward to the color artbook. Can you imagine the goodness? Maybe he'll give us some previews on the website. Now, that would be wonderful.

hopefully, i will have found the kinokuniya in LA and can run and get it. It will be a great 18th b-day present for myself. If it is anything like the slam dunk one (which is way too expensive for my tastes) then it will kick ass.

That sounds pretty awesome. The wait will be awful but it will only make the work that much better.
