Who are these guys?

What we do know:

The seven greatest ninja in the village are known as the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist, and each one wields a large and/or unique weapon. Kisame Hoshigaki, Zabuza Momochi, and Raiga Kurosuki, the three known members of the group, all became missing-nin. Of those three, only Kisame is still alive. The identities of the other four members remains a mystery.

Questions about the Swordsmen:
Is this organization still active in some way?
If not active, what caused the falling out?
Why are so many members missing nin?

Kisame seemed to be too involved with fighting and killing people to be allowed to stay in the group, Zabuza was planning a coup d'etat and Raiga didn't care about anything but the little runt/Haku-wannabe strapped to his back.

It would seem to me that the other 4 may still be active members, though now acting as more regular Hidden Mist ANBU...

I guess that since they're raised to be strong and violent, arrogance and defiance seem to be unfortunate by-products :\

well....all i can say is that there has been no futher info on them in the manga....so those questions cant be answered now

the thin is-- a filler character representing a major manga characcter like that may be the real one. And i am one of those that disagree with the notion that the manga is the only canon in the narutoverse.

and as we already by now-- kishi watches the anime too.

If I remembr correctly, they are not active in any way.
They are not active because I dunno.. maybe they just cant hang out as a group, and eveyrone was trying to have own goals of doing things..
They are missing nins because they all have comitted some crimes in their countries, i think.

And I think, that it will be never told about the whole gruop from Kishi. It was only to show, that someday ago there was such organization in the Mist. Maybe it will be clearer about tha in the future, if Kisame will talk about it :x

I have always thought they were not a organisation but officers in the Mist. They are the step between the Jounins and the Mizukage. Kinda like Konoha's Sannins, except they have an official rank and not just a nick.

it's obvious the little boy part was just to repeat the Zabuza arc and try to be as great as that arc, which it OBVIOUSLY wasn't.

Yes, Raiga was a filler character, though it's possible that Kishimoto had him in mind previously... but then the fillers completely butchered that idea anyway and decided to give Raiga the kid so there'd be some kind of "Naruto redeems someone AGAIN" story.

I hope this isn't a friggen theme among the Swordsmen, and we have Kisame with a little boy on his shoulders.

But in mythology, his sword's name was the name for some kind of fish thingy that stuck to the Sanbi so that probably voids Kisame from needing a kid.

yeah-- raiga was certainly butchered. Unless if he was one of the weakest in the seven swordsmen gang-- then it is understandable that even with Ranmaru he was beaten.

But you know-- that arc has some cool moves for Lee. i think it was called the curry of life arc.

what i wonder of is whether Kisames Samehada gives the chakra it swallows or even some of it to Kisame. That will be really interesting. it could help give some idea about his enormous chakra storehouse.

The Curry of Life arc was rather humourous... if only for Neji acting OOC...

And I think that perhaps the Samehada gives chakra to Kisame. He's supposed to have the largest stamina out of all the Akatsuki, so it's possible.

I hated that arc it was ^%%£$^" a waste of time and money same with most of the filler episodes

Hmmm...Interesting but there is something about ...when that kid made of bones M something attacked the villiage of the Mist with his clan and he ren into Zabuza?
