I remember reading somewhere that Deion Sanders ran a 4.27 40 yard dash in his pre-draft combine, and I know Michael Vick ran something close to a 4.2 and his brother Marcus ran a 4.4...

No, 4.2 is the human limit. And the lowest recorded 40 yard dash was a 4.27 by Dion Sanders (CB).

No, it's not. The fastest person in the world is close to 4.1-something electronically timed though 4.2 is the wall for nearly everyone.

The only time someone has officially ran under a 4.2 (meaning with the electronic stuff to make it exact) he was on roids. So yea, but if you think about it. Sena's 40 is done by hand. So I wonder how different it would be if it was done electronically.

    Gonna bump this.

Done by Hiruma's hand, the same guy that could read a wristwatch from about 20 feet away. I'd say it'd be pretty accurate. :P

Wikipedia isn't a good source for things like NFL time (And a lot of other things). Notice that a lot of the times that approach 4.2 weren't even done officially but reported in practices. Coaches brag all the time to get some what of an edge, same way that Hiruma used to do in the beginning of the series. If there was ever a player to hit the 4.2 mark, we'd know about him.

Well, Bo Jackson did it back at the 86' (i believe) combine. It was 4.19 s. It was hand-timed though, and that's an old story.

Then when you add the time it takes for the thumb to react, the runner's actual starting time, wind resistance/assistance and whole bunch of other variables, that time could fly froma 4.19 to a 4.6. There's really almost no way for you to find a completely accurate 40yard dash time without any kind of advanced measurement device. :/

    Manga is Manga after all.

Still, the 40's not really a good measure of football speed. Change-of-pace, acceleration, power, all factor in. If sena went against a real NFL player he'd be outclassed.

Found this in the Wiki link. "Fast starting elite sprinters such as Powell (and others past and present) can run a "Football 40" in less than 4 seconds". This is because they subtracted some from the final time but still. Impressive.

Hell, that's scary... Wonder if Sena could end up doing that....

You can't trust wikipedia for information like that, actually you can't trusk wikipedia for a lot of information. A lot of times that are said aren't anywhere near accurate and are just claims. The only way you can truly have an accurate timing is if it was taken professionally at an event and electronically judged. Even then you have to factor in wind and traction and all that crap so pretty much there is no way to have any definite running time.

Also, Sena's running speed, change of pace, dodging and acceleration are top notch. If he weighed 100 more lbs he'd probably be the best RB ever.

Re: is there anyone who can match sena's speed in the nfl?

Darrell Green ran an unofficial 4.09 in his prime. When he timed it during his last season, at the age of 42, he ran a 4.24, though this isn't counted as official as it was not at the combine. He recently celebrated his 50th birthday and ran a 4.43.

"No one chased down Tony Dorsett from behind... Darrell Green did. No one chased down Eric Dickerson from behind... Darrell Green did."

He was even able to chase Emmitt Smith down from behind. The last two running backs are both Hall of Famers. I'd say Darrell Green was indeed fast enough to run at least a 4.19 electronic time in his prime, though the method hadn't been introduced yet.
