Let me start this section off right.

I cant believe one of the greatest manga ever has no topic at all about it. Lemme break it down for everyone right quick:
The manga is about a teenager (at first) named Makunouchi Ippo. He is the typical kid who is bullied and one day is saved by a mysterous guy who happened to be running by (alot of coincidences happen okay). The kid finds out that that was Takamura Mamoru who is the next great boxer out of japan and all of a sudden Ippo wants to pick up boxing and the rest is history. It is 76 volumes and counting. It has some of the best fights in manga. Once you get to Takamura vs. Hawk in this series, you have read the best fight in all of manga, arguably

I cannot recommend this series any higher. It has comedy, action, suspense, great pacing, great characters and more. This is definitely a must read for sports and non-sports fans alike.

You can go to dynamiteglove.com to get more info on where to get it and the series as a whole (there is a torrent with volumes 1-76 (i believe) that Puar (the head of the Ignition-one project) Started

This thread is now the general discussion thread for Hajime No Ippo. Talk about anything Ippo related in here! - Boff

I wonder how many people on this forum read Naruto and.... nothing else? What a shame.

Hajime no Ippo is definitely one of my favorite sports manga of all time. Up there with Slam Dunk.

You really get attached to Ippo and his strong determination.

I couldnt agree more about naruto. I mean the most amount of people on this site occured soon after 313 was out, coincidence? i think not.

I love ippo but i tire of his persisting rookie tendencies. I mean he has faced such tough competition but still makes the same mistakes or panics or whatever.

He panics a lot less now and says some really cool manly things every once in a while. But he's still not "badass" cuz that's not what he's supposed to be. He goes into his fights with strong determination and lots of training - that's what makes him so lovable.

That is a good point. I mean i would like him to at least look like he could be ready to take on a world level opponent or two. (i guess Scratch J is a world contender).

My favorite character has to be Takamura. I mean he is cocky but backs it up and he is funny as hell. I mean he wrote that he rules on ippo's penis. Also, there is Takamura vs Hawk which is one of the best fights in any manga, imo.

I wish morikawa woul dget to the world level with ippo and miyata. The way things are looking, it doesnt seem that that is that far way from happening. However, Hajime no Ippo is far from ending

yea!

Here is something from dynamiteglove.com

"I have seen all of the anime series, including the OAV and TV Special. Where should I start reading?

Start at Volume 35 Round 315. The previous fight ended in the chapter before this. "
