[Discussion] Vagabond 285 Discussion / 286 Prediction Thread

It's a little ridiculous that I'm making another thread when the last issue hasn't even surfaced yet, but a strange and worrisome pattern has emerged; like last time, while 284 is still MIA, 285 IS out (even numbered episodes apparently get no love, but if 284 is out there, I would imagine it's going to be on share or some other p2p). Anyway, 285 is still a great episode in its own right:

So, I'm really anticipating 286... and 284, or maybe I shouldn't count on those and just look forward to 287.

As is said on our site:
"Alright, so we got the raws for 285, and have finished most of the work, but we’re probably going to hold off and see if the raws for 284 don’t come out shortly. Unlike the last raw gap, this chapter appears to be more dependent on the previous chapter, so to avoid potentially awkward translations due to lack of context and people receiving the chapters out of order, we’re going to wait a bit. If it doesn’t come out soon, we’ll reevaluate the situation again and might release it (anything awkward isn’t going to be that bad)."

Also, I've been monitoring PD and Share for 284 to no avail. Hopefully, we'll get it soon.

Also, as the end of 285 says, "Vagabond will be on break from the following issues for the next 3 weeks.#286 returns in issue 52, on sale 11/26!"

Did you happen to notice if 285 is on there? I'm only curious because of the inconsistencies in the release times, like two different people are doing it, or whoever is doing it, maybe Vagabond isn't their first priority (what's Billy Bat's release schedule look like compared to Vagabond's? =).

Well, 285 didn't show up on any of the p2ps for me yet, but we got 282 from Share and I don't believe the raws even showed up on RP. It's sort of a mixed bag. Sometimes P2Ps are faster, sometimes other means such as RP are faster. The raws might not even show up on one or the other. There doesn't seem to be a lot of consistence at all. As for Billy Bat, the searches are specific to the series I am looking for generally, but I was actually looking for some raws for someone. I couldn't find a whole lot for though. The whole situation seems worse than normal lately, or maybe it's just my imagination.

Yeah, it's gone beyond arbitrary and become contradictory; why would someone, or some people, scan 283 and 285, and so quickly, yet before 282 and 284? Hopefully it's just that they're being uploaded inconsistently, my worry is one of these episodes is going to fall through the cracks altogether.

I was only wondering because I wanted to know if these odd numbered Vagabond issues coincided with the release schedule of new Billy Bat episodes in Morning. I noticed that both 283 and 285 went up simultaneously on RP with new Billy Bat, so maybe the scanner is chiefly concerned with that series and just doing Vagabond on the side because it's there, and the 282 raw was someone else filling in the gap? Just a theory.

No, it definitely is, the Vagabond raws were up like clockwork until 281, when Heiji was providing them I think.

I can't remember these shenanigans happening until 282 went missing. It is odd that whoever puts Morning raws on Share/Perfect Dark has been skipping chapters. Maybe it has been different uploaders lately. RP gets their Morning raws from P2P so this situation could go on for a while.

If the complete volumes go on sale soon after their last chapter has been published, we should be able to get the missing chapters within a few weeks.
But yes, it's quite odd to only have every other chapter... And it's annoying when it's excellent chapters like the last ones.

Yeah, we've been holding off a bit hoping to get 284, but it's not looking good, so we're probably just going to release it somewhat soon. Again, since there might be contextual issues, we might release a v2 after when we get 284.

Anyway, 285 is still a great episode in its own right: Spoiler Ittosai is indeed flashbacking, and we get to see Kojiro confront the old man after his battle with Koun, and there's even a Gonnosuke cameo... anyway, wow, when Ittosai said he wanted to fight Kojiro some day after he was more seasoned, I didn't think he meant like, the next day, but we'll see where this actually goes So, I'm really anticipating 286... and 284, or maybe I shouldn't count on those and just look forward to 287. __________________ Like Vagabond?
