Summary and Preview
It's not easy to become and live as a mangaka, as Mashiro knows from his late uncle. At his 9th grade, while trying to keep up with reality, school and then normal job, he left his notebook with a sketch of Azuki, a girl he likes. Tamaki, a first rate student found it and trying to convince Mashiro to draw a manga with his story. Mashiro doesn't like the idea and tries to decline. Tamaki, however, tries to stick to dream and found out that Azuki also wants to be a voice actress and already got a good reply from a production company. Tamaki, then, brought Mashiro to her house and telling her his dream.... Mashiro then tells her that he will write a manga with Tamaki and will ask Azuki to voice their anime. Out of confusion, Mashiro asks her if the dreams become reality, will she marry him? She says yes, only if their dreams become true, and not otherwise!! Now, lives of wannabe mangakas begin!!!

But if you pay attention to the work the main characters have been doing, it's quite amazing. People in Japan that get the highest marks put TONS of effort into it, even the geniuses. Cram school is necessary (Light Yagami even went to one. Insane natural geniuses like L and Hiruma are the only ones that wouldn't). So when you see them show that something takes more time and effort than USUAL.... That's quite a bit "^_^
If you have the talent to write and draw, and put in the effort to make a decent manga, then actually being published isn't incredibly hard. Your work just has to be good. I don't know about all the companies, but with Shueisha, an editor is ALWAYS willing to read a manuscript if you claim to have one done. That was being honest. Permalink " "
that aside, this manga is really great. recommended, 5 out of 5. Permalink " "
sure each author has done something that might be considered better (Ohba's Tottemo luckyman! and obata's Cyborg Grandpa G come to mind) but this combined work is truly something that deserves to be one of the new staples of jump, as the pillar of drama, alongside the pillar of power(Toriko) and the pillar of gag(inumaru Dashi) between the three of them jump's future is looking to stand strong in the face of the mainstays reaching their end... we just need a pillar of sport now(which we may have in Kuroko no Basket) Permalink " "
Distant to be a ¨X¨ manga of the lot, BAKUMAN is a real manga full of spirit and emotions. And is writen by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata the same from Death Note.
This manga capture the life of 2 young aspirants to mangakas in a way that you feel all the surprises, thriller and drama in a very funny way. Just awesome.^^

Even if you know Japanese, you won't fully understand Bakuman. I'm also learning Japanese, but I know translators who don't understand everything on Bakuman. Ask kewl0210, for example.
I like Bakuman very much, although it's been a while since I last read it... Gotta catch up. Permalink " "
I didn't read the latest chapters though. Permalink " "
