Summary and Preview
A manga based on Yamaha's voice synthesizer VOCALOID and it's mascots, mainly Miku Hatsune. In every new chapter there is a different Miku, showing you the world of music!
This is an unofficial (hence the word "hikoushiki") manga featuring Vocaloids (singing synthesizer softwares that is usually represented by a digitally generated character; please check Wikipedia for more information). This work is the copyright of Crypton, the company responsible for creating the vocaloids that appear in the manga. In fact, it was the same character designer that initiated the manga (KEI).
Miku Hatsune is a Vocaloid. One day, a lady (name unrevealed initially and only known as "oneechan" or "big sis") passes by an alley and finds Miku, thinking she was a stray cat (little Miku was sitting in a cardboard box)! Regardless, the lady takes Miku in. It so happens that Oneechan is a headhunter for budding singing idols; this is where the meek and timid Miku springs to life! She tries to exhibit her singing skills, only to cause Oneechan's apartment to crumble!
Miku generally doesn't talk much but has a habit of saying "miku" a lot. She doesn't have proper long dialogues until later in the story. She is later joined by Rin Kagamine, a younger sister figure to Miku, and Ren Kagamine, a younger brother figure to Miku. Whether or not both Rin and Ren are twins is unknown.
The Vocaloids interact with the humans they encounter, and sometimes they're helpful while sometimes they end up causing chaos. There is no main storyline; each story/scenario stands alone.
There is a lot of secrecy in this manga, e.g. only the first syllable of Oneechan's name is revealed ('me', pronounced as "meh"). There is a lot of unknowns about the vocaloids, and other human characters as well. So what's with the big hush-hush?? Read the manga and find out! [6gatsu]
