One Piece movie Strong World - Facts about Volume 0

+ posted by njt in Manga News on Dec 12, 2009 17:52

Today was the premiere of the new One Piece movie I talked about a while ago and it was *gasp*!!! amazingly good! Due to the extreme popularity of it, if you didn't reserve tickets ahead of time you had no chance of seeing it. Luckily I researched a bit beforehand and found me some seats for the last showing of it (thus my delay in posting this article :( )

I'll be going into more detail in a forum post a bit later. I plan on writing about the movie in detail which will probably spoil most of it, and as such it should be posted in a place where we can hide it better ;). What I want to cover first is the volume that was handed out to the lucky individuals who managed to get a seat :D.

However there is one thing about the movie I want to make clear:
This movie does not take place in the past. The whole Strong World manga that came out with it starts in the past, introducing the boss - but when Luffy and crew meet him it's as close to the present story as possible (could be before this current arc, could be after - who knows~).

As you can see in the photo presented the volume is extremely thin :(. Also, the chapter that was released in Jump a couple weeks ago was the entire story. The rest of the manga defines the characters a bit, presents some "behind the scenes" where it shows the original sketches done by Oda-sensei, a list of various products you can buy, an interview of the director and finally a message from Oda-sensei.
For completeness sake here's the ToC:

Chapter 1......................... The Story of One Piece
Chapter 2......................... Chapter #0 Strong world
- The Story of Strong World
Chapter 3......................... Note of EIICHIRO ODA
Chapter 4......................... Goods of Strong World
Chapter 5......................... Voice of Director
Chapter 6 ......................... Message of Eiichiro Oda

Totaling 81 pages.

Oda-sensei's message at the end is pretty straightforward with him saying he's a manga artist, not an animator, so if people enjoyed the film that they should send thanks to the animators. That he believes the film is something everyone will like and writes about one thing that I found amusing - stating: Throughout the creation of the movie they followed one simple saying, "Let's all become happy in December!"; that during the film, it's OK to fight, it doesn't matter who you got angry; that at the end of all of it, as long as it's done well, the fans will be happy and through that all hard feelings won't matter anymore...

But at the end he casually drops a BOMBSHELL!!

He says
Quote:
"This story is Luffy's last adventure as a 17 year old so watch it over and over again!" ...!!!!

Could he be hinting at Luffy growing older?! Or the series ending with Luffy at 17?! Let the theories begin!

For those of you who want a more in-depth breakdown of the movie, follow us on Twitter(or at least check it from time to time :p). I'll be posting a link to the summary there.

Also those loyal followers on twitter will have the advantage of winning Volume 0 when we give it away a little later on!

i too think that there will be a timeskip, cause it will take some time for the whole crew to get strong enough for the new world and to get together again.

oda(to me he is not a sensei, he's a couple of years older then me) won't make a time skip it's not his style

either their will be a timeskip or remember invankov gave luffy hormones that would shorten his life by 10 years. what if luffy aged by 10 years, after the effects of the hormones.

no, i think wat hash899 said might be true, what if OP does a time skip, damn, what will that mean, it could be right after the current arc, think about it, its like 2 yrs later, and all the characters get badass stronger, while luffy is on some training with garp/whitebeard- haki anyone....:p wrong place for theories but it would make sense after an event like this

Hey, wasn't there adult Luffy in the original OP oneshot?

Anyways, timeskip might be good. But at least 1.5 a year and not more than 5 years. Please NO 3 years timeskip :P That would be way too naruto xD

Pretty sure there is going to be a time skip. this is so exciting can't wait to see what happens next.

Time skip isn't Oda's style? How do you know? It probably wasn't Toriyama's nor Kishimoto's style according to fans before they did it either. >_>

A timeskip makes sence since Luffy its not even close to defeating the likes of Aokiji or even the cyborg Kumas, him getting strong all of a sudden wouldn't make sence, my guess is that Whitebeard will take Luffy with him and become His Mentor teaching him about Haki.

The smile on my face is gonna scare my girlfriend because its gonna last until Monday!!! XDDDD

Anyway, a time skip would be so badass. I'd hope for the maximum being 2 years. Of course we could be waaay off with this time skip idea.

umm...all i get from that was Luffy's last adventure as a 17 year old...so he's turning 18, and still continuing on with his adventures?

lets be hopeful

and to OunknownO, sensei is like...giving respect to someone who u think deserve it in their profession, like a doctor or so (to me anyway)

thanks for the OP update, glad the movie wasn't all hype...and now waiting for reviews

If there's a time-frame skip I hope it doesn't go downhill like Naruto did. Or at least in my opinion Naruto did.

It's obvious it's luffys birthday

I don't think oda would do some shitty time skip like Naruto.

This This whole war has been foreshadowing a timeskip for luffy. At every turn someone comments on how young he is. Even Chapter Zero, what with Roger reaching Raftel 3 years after his epic battle against Shiki.

Doesnt anybody actually expect luffy to become PK at 17?!
I really want that timeskip.

Wow. A One Piece timeskip would be mindblowing, but I just have a feeling that the movie will just end with Luffy's birthday party or something.
