Animanga in the News: 4/21/11

Here you will find a run down of today's anime and manga news! If anything major happened the anime and manga world today, you'll find it in this post! Kyoto City has produced a Kyoto guidebook entitled "Kyoto Mansai", that introduces visitors to Kyoto to sightseeing spots and shops that have been featured in anime and manga. The guidebook began distribution on the 21st. It aims to draw in young tourists in their 20s and 30s, and thus capitalizes on the appearances of Kyoto in 20 popular series such as "Oishinbo" and "Lucky Star".

This is in response to statistics in 2009 that reflected that out of the 4.7 million yearly visitors to Kyoto, more than half of them were over 50 years of age, while those in their 20s and 30s only made up 13% and 10% respectively. The guidebook was thus produced with the aid of the Kyoto International Manga Museum (Nakagyou ward).
