New Manga Shout Out: 5/2/11 - 5/8/11

Azumaya Kotori was a typical teenage girl who went to school, hung out with friends, and had a crush on a boy. Then, one day, she gets hit by a truck and dies, but her spirit still wanders this dimension. It turns out that the boy Kotori had a crush on, Kusakabe Aruto, is spiritually attuned and can see Kotori even though no one else can. Aruto is able to find out that Kotori is not really dead but just in a coma and her soul, her current form, has escaped from her physical body. To return back to normal, she has to find a way to combine herself together again. In the meantime, Kotori ends up staying under the same roof as Aruto and his family who can also see her. Although the circumstances aren’t ideal, Kotori is delighted and nervous about spending intimate time with her crush.

Yokodera is just like every teenage boy: perversion is in his nature. He can’t help but look up girls' skirts and fantasize about them. However, in his case, every time he does something perverted, it somehow gets turned around and misunderstood as something positive for the community. Sick of being so perverted, he tries to shake free of it by going to a special part of town. On top of a hill, away from the town and at the foot of a large tree, there is a wooden sculpture of a beckoning cat that is said to have special powers. Instead of bringing a wish to the user like a typical beckoning cat, it takes something from the user, and, in Yokodera’s case, his perversion. Still doubtful, he uses the beckoning cat thinking that it couldn’t hurt to try, but, little does he know, his life is about to make a turn to the unexpected.

The real first-year ace, the super-serious, highly-skilled, irritable Kageyama, has no patience for clueless Hinata's ambition. Will Hinata be able to find a useful place on his new team?

In the bizarre fairy tale land of King Mitochondria, there is a mythical Robin Hood-esque thief known as Papan. One day, the princess of the kingdom vanishes! A band of common highwaymen are working outside of town, along with a Papan-idolizing dowser girl who locates treasure for them with a crystal. They attack a wagon that her crystal claims contains valuable treasure, but all they find inside is a tied-up little girl. The girl claims to be the missing princess, but when she gives them the slip, she doesn't seem to be heading towards the castle at all. Is the little girl who she says she is?! And what is the dowser's relationship to Papan?!

This 4-koma manga follows the story of Liz, an elementary school foreign transfer student. She comes from an unnamed northern land and speaks Japanese, English, Russian, and her native language. In school, she quickly makes friends with two other girls, Hinoki and Kurosugi. Both her new Japanese friends are mischievous schemers. Hinoki's tricks tend to be obvious and simple, while Kurosugi is smarter and more subtle. The three of them enjoy their daily school life together!

My favorite this week was actually With Liz, the 4-koma. There's something about foreigner-in-japan humor that really makes me laugh. Mitokon gets my "truly bizarre" award for the week. To warn you, it's surprisingly violent, and has a really, really strange plot.
Here's a note from vyc:
Nothing really stood out for me this week. Couple comedies and Hentai Ouji to Warawanai Neko seems the most promising out of the bunch this week.
My opinion:
Hentai Ouji to Warawanai Neko actually sounds interesting, despite the name although I hope it stays as a nice romance manga. Mitokon sounds pretty cute too. I'm interested in finding out why the 'princess' is running away from home or if the main character got duped. :3
