Tournament of Moe

Hi there. This is c_k and this will be my first news post of hopefully many (or maybe not so many) to inform you about information that I find online about anime and manga. What better topic to start talking about than the topic of 'moe.' Those of you who are familiar with anime and manga may recognize the term 'moe.' From wikipedia:

"Moe is a Japanese slang word originally referring to fetish for or love for characters in video games or anime and manga."

Even though I've been watching anime for a long while, way back when fansub groups were fansubbing anime on VHS tapes, and even though I've taken a break or two from anime and manga, I wouldn't have thought that people would create a tournament to determine who was the most moe character, but I was wrong. The Anime Saimoe Tournament, or Saimoe for short, was created to do just that.

Apparently it was started in 2002 in 2channel, a Japanese BBS site, to determine the moe-ist character. Starting this past August 18 until November 2, characters featured from various animes released from July 2007 to June 2008 battle it out to become the number one moe character of 2008. So how does this affect you? It doesn't, but if you are determined to show them who you believe is the most moe character you can help determine the winner! Although it's a bit late and you can't affect previous rounds, directions on how to vote can be found in the Animesuki forum.
