The other heroes are Keiko (Pink), who seems to fluctuate between being a hot young woman and an old lady, a tough little dog named Cerberus (Green), a guy who looks like an ancient swordsman, Kennosuke (Blue), and the little boy Riki (Yellow) who is shockingly strong. Together, they will defend their town against villains, such as aliens!

To his surprise, Mabi does not immediately swoon into his arms. Instead, she seems to be a human being, with her own thoughts and goals, and she is uncomfortably good at seeing through some of his act. Seducing Mabi requires getting to know her, which is dangerous when his intention is for her to end up in tears...

With the help of his surprisingly skillful secretaries (Egumarinu and Momoko), Rudolf usually comes out on top. However, he doesn't seem to be able to get the woman he desires, a lovely woman in the town called Lapan, to fall for him!

The Japanese National Diet building has somehow been scooped out of the earth, with all the congressmen inside. They don't know where they are, but they still have power and internet, and a small opening to get food and supplies from Earth. Therefore, their needs are taken care of, but they are trapped completely.

Among the congressmen, there are a group of 20-something men who are not generally respected as politicians. These are congressmen who were chosen to improve the image of their parties. Among them are former idols and entertainers (Makise Jin, Yoshizawa Rei), a former comedian (Himei Shougo), a former Olympic figure skater (Ichinose Daiki), an ordinary office worker (Momosawa Kenta), and one young man who really has a passion for politics (Uesugi Ryou). Three weeks into their confinement, they happen upon a young girl who has mysteriously appeared in the building. She remembers nothing of herself, except that her name is Itagaki Taisuke, which is actually the name of a famous historical Japanese politician. Could she really be Itagaki Taisuke reborn, come to help them become better congressmen?

A collection of horror stories:

1) Tonari no Yomi-san: There's an urban legend about a girl ("Yomi-san") who hated her appearance and killed herself, and whose father stuffed her corpse. Supposedly, her taxidermied corpse attacks beautiful girls to steal their body parts. When pretty girls are injured at school, some people blame a jealous pretty student, but could it really be Yomi-san?

2) Kurayami Chi-chan: When Tomohiro was little, he and his friend Naoya used to hang out with a strange girl they called Chi-chan. They never new her name, where she lived, or even saw her face (it was obscured with hair). Now, when he meets her again as a teenager, he realizes that she is more than strange...

3) Tomodachi: Lonely Shiori buys some weird little creatures as pets. As she cares for them, they grow into something very strange...

4) Hasami Onna: Three children decide to go into the "Scissors Woman's" house, which is supposedly haunted. They all go in for different reasons, but they are not prepared for what they'll find inside.

With the advances in medicine and technology, the average age of an individual has steadily risen, but the birth rate has dropped significantly since the "baby boomer" generation. This leads to a natural imbalance between the elderly versus the younger, working class population. What becomes necessary are people like Onda Momotaro to nurse the elderly gentlemen and ladies that are becoming increasingly senile.

His introduction into the "industry" of taking care of the elderly was shocking. What he saw was an elderly man being tied down to a bed for his own safety, while the nurses and caretakers consider this a "necessary evi.l" Momotaro is determined to help the elderly and bring back their smiles.

• Gekka Bijin: Kaguya is forced to flee after the moon empire she is heir to is taken over. In her time down on Earth, will she be able to find a way to return to her rightful place?

• Witch Craze: Witch hunters bearing blood-sucking swords hunt down witches and take their blood. An unusual man and woman traveling together come into a town that already has at least one witch, just before a group of hunters arrive to take her down.

• PMG-0: Tania has been a member of the PMG, the "musketeers" that form a special police guard, from the time after the violent death of her father. She's not very disciplined, but she's a force to be reckoned with. In this story, PMG is trying to stop a group of armed robbers.

Ninagawa Mio is a tough biker-gang "yankee" girl. One day, while rescuing a child from an oncoming bus, she accidentally crashes her motorbike into a very expensive car. Mio has no idea what to expect at this meeting, and is bewildered when she finds herself entered into some contest called "Dorukon." "Dorukon" is apparently a popular audition competition show, where the winner gets an idol debut, but Mio is not just there due to her possible latent talent. Saga, the producer of the show, has been receiving threats that the victor will be killed if the broadcasting of "Dorukon" is not stopped. He's decided to press Mio into service as his inside detective, since the threats may be coming from someone within the show.

Now Mio is a contestant, along with the former child actress Kujou Ichika, the hot guy Satou Koushirou, sexy Yae Sumire, innocent Shimizu Nana, and chubby, bespectacled Gotou Yuuki. While dealing with all the "Dorukon" challenges, Mio has to help unravel the mystery before someone gets killed!

These individuals have been gathered to decode a special book that allegedly contains the secrets to immortality. To save Endo's life, Tamiya sets out to decode this mysterious book, but there seems to be demonic forces that come with this forbidden book.

Kaoru Inoue had suffered a tragedy when his parents were killed by a knife-wielding man in the political rally of Assemblyman Yūzō Asada in Tokyo when he was 6. Because of this, all of his senses have been improved with the ability to detect anything in his surroundings. Veteran SP officer Soichiro Ogata recruits him from SP training after being impressed with his training under Section 4 of the SP division. Inoue works with Eri Sasamoto, one of the few women serving in the division. Another officer is Takafumi Yamamoto, who is the only known SP officer to have MMA experience with a preference to use the 7:3 hairstyle ratio. Mitsuo Ishida is the only known SP officer in the section who had been previously married. Together, these men and women work in unison to protect the VIPs assigned to them from being killed by assassins.

Gora Daisuke was just scared off of books by his grandmother, an avid collector. When he got into her library one day as a child, she responded angrily and violently. Now his grandmother is dead, and it's time to deal with her belongings. He comes across the complete works of Natsume Soseki, which appear to be autographed! When he is eventually directed to Shioriko to ask about it, she responds with so much more than a simple answer about the signature. As he sees Shioriko's enthusiasm, it looks like knowing Shioriko might lead Daisuke to a new path toward appreciating books!

Ria is a pretty, young woman who works in a small corner of Osaka, delivering lunches to the elderly. She doesn't deal well with young men, so she has created an "air boyfriend," who she imagines is always loving and supportive of her. Ria is approaching 30 without having ever really dated. One day, the little food delivery business is bought out by a Tokyo company. Ria and her chubby friend Kyou end up heading to Tokyo to work, sadly leaving behind the older workers.

Mistakes and misunderstandings crop up in every department Ria tries to work in (many due to the fact that people assume she speaks English, based on her half-Japanese looks), and she is despondent that she is failing to represent the people she left behind in Osaka. Finally, Ria ends up as a secretary. When she ends up in a meeting about food delivery to the elderly, she feels compelled to speak up about her own experiences. She is certain she's about to be fired, but instead, she is promoted to be the young company president's personal secretary. Ria is not sure of her job as a secretary, she doesn't seem able to make friends at work, and she has no idea how to deal with the gorgeous man that is now her direct boss!

People can switch genders or change their apparent age, and some people also make themselves deliberately ugly. There are also highly regretted surgeries, such as the otaku who makes himself into an anime character, or those who take 'bigger is better' a little too far to the extreme in modifying their sexual characteristics. It is a strange new world of cosmetic surgery, and there are many stories to be told!

The tiger seems to have a connection to Atsushi, and by the time the case is solved, it is clear that Atsushi's future will involve much more of Dazai and the rest of the detectives!

Video Games News -2013 Game Developers Conference Edition-

The annual Game Developers Conference had come and gone. Here are some of the biggest video game news that came out of this conference.

Sony Revealed New PS4 Details

During the conference, Sony provided new details about their next-gen console. First, they revealed the five core principles that they intended the PS4 to have: “Simple, Immediate, Social, Integrated, and Personalized.” The new user interface reflected those principles by providing users information without loading a new game. They can see new add-ons, friends' opinions about a new game, etc.

Its CPU will have a 64-bit x86 architecture, low power consumption, low heat, 8 cores, 8 hardware threads, 2MiB L2 cache per 4 core group, 32kib l1 I/D-cache, PlayStation Shader Language, and features DirectX 11 and OpenGL 4.0 support. The system will have a 8GB 256 bit GDDR5, and the console will have a large hard-drive equipped.

The DualShock controller will replaced the Start and Select buttons with a single "Options" button and have a "Share" button. Sony also stated that the controller buttons will go back to digital over analog since many players didn't use them on the PS3. The L2 and R2 buttons will be given a curved bottom. The touchpad will have a resolution of 1920×900 and will click if pressed down. The light bar behind the controller will indicate different players; Player One will be blue; Player Two, red; Player Three, green; and Player Four, pink, which are the same colors the Playstation symbols. It could also be used as an in-game indicator, such as health bar. Unike the PS3 DualShock controller, it can be charged even if the system is off.

The Playstation 4 Eye camera will have high-sensitivity dual color cameras at 1280×800 resolution, 12 bits per pixel, and 60Hz. Sony will have a port for this peripheral, which is an exclusive Sony-developed connector so unfortunately you can't plug it into your PC.

The new Playstation Network will give users two identities choices: their real name and picture, and their PlayStation Network ID and avatar. Players can decide which one to use and whether or not to allow others to see their real names. If a player imported from Facebook, his or her name will automatically be used though it can be modified. Sony also increased friend capacity.

Promoting the social aspect of the console, Sony revealed that developers can set chapter markers for references to use for the share options and that the hardware will automatically take care of the sharing and streaming features. During Remote Play, PS4 games can be played on the Vita and can be displayed on both systems at the same time. Just like the sharing and streaming features, it will be handled by the hardware. Lastly, the Playstation mobile app will allow users to login, buy PlayStation 4 games, and have their systems begin downloading them at home.

Sony Detailed More Info on Rain

Sony revealed more information about their upcoming PSN game, Rain. The story is about a boy who is chasing a girl with an invisible silhouette and discovers that she is being pursued by ghostly creatures. However, he found himself to be invisible as well, and his silhouette can be only seen in the rain. Now he has to navigate through the unknown world while avoiding monsters.

SCEA associate producer Dais Kawaguchi stated that the game encourages players to think of strategies such as using the boy as bait in order to lure the monsters away or picking up items to taunt them. No release date had been posted yet.

More PS3 and Vita Games Announced

Four more indie games will be available for the PS3 and Vita. These games are:

Divekick: A “quirky two-button fighting game” from Iron Galaxy Studios for PlayStation 3 and PS Vita.
Metrico: A PS Vita exclusive from Digital Dreams that “delivers an innovative experience in an atmospheric infographic world” and utilizes the system’s controls “in a new way.”
Spelunky: A randomly-generated cave explorer, first launched on Xbox LIVE Arcade and PC, coming to PlayStation 3 and PS Vita with “new exclusive features” this summer.
Limbo: The acclaimed puzzle platformer will make its way to PS Vita.

Puppeteer Release Date Announced

Control your destiny on stage

Sony revealed that Puppeteer will be released on Sept. 10th. In this game, you control a boy named Kutaro, whose head was eaten by the Moon Bear King and body transformed into a wooden puppet. To get his head back, he will use replacement heads, make allies, and use a pair of magical scissors. The game setting is a theater stage.

Two Games Announced for PS4

Two more games have been announced for the PS4.

The first game is Blacklight: Retribution, which is a sequel to Blacklight: Tango Down. It is a futuristic free-to-play first-person shooter, which already have over one million players on PC. Zombie Studios hopes to bring a "new experience" and "further evolution" of the shooter to the PS4.

The next game, Primal Carnage: Genesis, is a “story driven, episodic single player adventure”, which takes place in a world where dinosaurs came back to life.

EA Revealed Battlefield 4

EA and DICE officially announced the next Battlefield game at the conference. In the press release, they promised that “Players will learn how to work together in both the Campaign and Multiplayer, issuing squad orders and comparing achievements in both experiences. Adventure and Competition will unfold through a series of beautifully crafted locations constructed with some of the best art and sound design in modern shooters.”

Players who preorder the game at participating stores will get the Premium expansion pack at no additional cost. If players buys the game on Origin, they will get a Battlefield 4 Digital Deluxe edition including the game, bonus digital items, Premium expansion pack, and exclusive access to the multiplayer beta.

Battlefield 4 will be out this fall for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.

More Killer is Dead First Look Posted

Suda51's new assassin game, Killer is Dead, is about an executioner named Mondo Zappa, who wield a katana in one hand and his other arm is a transforming cybernetic arm. He works for the government-funded Bryan Execution Agency and its mission is to hunt down people who live in the Underworld.

Each mission will be similar to an episode of a drama TV show. While the missions are self-contained, they will tie to a bigger plot. The first mission revealed at the conference was “The Girl Who Lost Her Ear.” In this mission, Monda confronted the boss, Victor, who planned to steal music from all the musicians around the world so he could amplify it to make the world an evil place. Suda51 added that some of the bosses will have human forms while others will not.

During battle, the player will have three choices: weak attack, strong attack, and punch attack, which can be linked together as combos. There are also finishing blows though they haven't been detailed. The game will include a Gigolo Mode, which allow Mondo to seduce women.

The game will be out on the PS3 and Xbox 360 this summer.

Metal Gear Solid V Confirmed

At the conference, Kojima Productions has confirmed that two separate games, Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain will combine to make up Metal Gear Solid V. The former will be a prologue and take places nine years before The Phantom Pain. It will immediately take place after Peace Walker. The Phantom Pain, which is considered to be the main game, begins after Snake wakes up from his coma. Both will be open world though Ground Zeroes will be smaller.

Hideo Kojima stated that Snake is the only playable character and that he headed a new squad called Diamond Dogs. He also confirmed that old and several new characters will be in the game. For the gameplay, he wanted the infiltration to be more realistic, which will provide players more options. The game, which takes place around 1984, will be "80% real and 20% sci-fi".

The reason why he decided to use Roman numeral for this game instead of "5" is because he wants the "V" to represent their will for "victory". Likewise, he and his team wanted to reinvent the series, which is also why they decided not to ask David Hayter to voice Snake like he did with the previous games. He also added that this will be the last Metal Gear Solid game he will make because he wishes to work on other projects. He intends for the LA and Tokyo teams to take over the series.

Metal Gear Solid V will be available for the PS3 and Xbox 360 though Kojima won't comment whether or not it will be out for the next-gen consoles as well.

Hello, fellow MangaHelpers!

I'm Farfalla and along with Bugzee, we present you the new Artists Interview Project!
We're starting it with the spotlight set on a big name here on MH: Mangatellers! They are responsible for great series displayed here, such as Mythos and R.u.N., and provided us an interview full of amazing experiences and tips. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

1) Tell us a bit about yourselves. What brought the two of you to MangaHelpers and what do you like to do here?

We are Mangatellers, the Greek team that creates original webmanga. We are the screenplay writers, Raphael Voutsidis and Kariofillis – Chris Hatzopoulos. Our main artist is Manos Lagouvardos, who is a professional comic artist here in Greece. He has already published his own comic, called Galaxia and he has participated in different comic conventions, such as London Super Comic Convention. We are the creators of the shonen sports web manga series, R.u.N. (Remember Ur Nature) and the oneshot, WiFi Wars. The Japanese Embassy in Greece became interested in our works and has invited us to participate in a number of cultural events, such as Let’s Talk About Japanese Pop Culture, organized by the embassy.
We came across Mangahelpers while checking for translations for some manga chapters of Gintama. Along with the translations we found a lot more than we had been looking for. An active community and a fan based encyclopedia about manga, which was really fascinating.
When we found that Mangahelpers had a thread about Art, we wanted to post some information about our work here. We had never expected that a lot of members would like our works so much and we really appreciate it.

2) How do you guys see your journey as manga writers so far? Are you standing, running or sitting back and taking it all in!? xD

It isn’t a simple journey. In order to write an original story, first of all you must spend hundreds of hours researching and analyzing works of other authors and tutorials about different methods of writing, because writing for comics and manga is a lot different than writing a novel. It isn’t sufficient to have an idea only, but also to find a proper way to present and make it interesting for the readers. Ideas come and go, but new methods of presenting them are always develop, especially nowadays with so many high quality manga in the mainstream industry. So while we write our stories we continue studying and expanding our imagination. We can tell you that the journey is tiresome, but rewarding.

3) How do you guys feel about the MangerHelpers Art Section as a whole? Is there something in particular that you would like to see added or changed? (you guys can be honest about this. We won't delete your account 8D)

The art section is really well organized. We don’t think that anything in particular needs to be added or changed. It meets with all the standards of other forums regarding amateur manga. What we would like to see is more members who are artists to be more confident about their projects and show more of their works here, so that they can share their ideas with everyone. ^^

4) As manga writers that have attracted the attention of a range of members, feel free to give us a broad point of view.

Being an independent team of artists we find it hard to promote our works, since we don’t have a marketing department or a manager. Forums and social networks are the only way to share our work or make it known. The Self-promotion of our projects through forums and social network is viewed by a number of users in a negative way and it is opposed against. Some others simply get to know our works and some others support our cause. The users of Mangahelpers so far have given us positive feedback and we really appreciate their support. The truth is that we ourselves have found in the art section interesting works of other independent artists, who didn’t hesitate to share their ideas with us.

5) Now tell us a bit about the works you two have displayed here. What was the inspiration and techniques to create them?

R.u.N. is our ongoing web manga series which focuses on Parkour. We were initially inspired in 2008 when parkour first became known in Greece. It was impressive to watch the traceurs perform using all those techniques. We wanted to create a manga series that would promote and support the culture and mentality supporting Parkour because the media presented traceurs as simple stuntmen and tricksters. Moreover we wanted our manga series to be a shonen mainstream manga and for this reason we decided to combine Parkour with the daily highschool life in Japan.

6) Apart from your work that can be found here on MangaHelpers, is your current profession in the field of art? Does it support your artwork in anyway? Or is it a goal that you guys wish to fulfil in the near future?

Both of us have made studies in Finance. Our post graduate studies are on Information System Technologies and Applied Accounting and Auditing, respectively. We work as accountants in our country and screenplay writing is our hobby. Our main profession provides us with the necessary financial support for our art work. Our studies have helped us not only expand our horizons and our views of the world, but also develop our imagination. Our goal for the near future is to complete four more chapters of R.u.N. in 2013.

7) What are the difficulties of being an artist here, and out there

As we have already said, being an independent not yet well known team it is difficult to attract readers’ interest on your work. This hardship is faced by almost all independent artists. We can simply count on people’s love and support. This is why our works are free to all to read and enjoy. A major drawback is that production of the manga is really slow due to limited budget.

8) What are the obstacles you guys face as manga writers in general?

It is quite hard to maintain the smooth flow of the plot within the 20-25 pages of each chapter. Within these pages and the limited number of panels we need to compress the plot flow as well as the emotions of our characters and some cliffhangers in the end, so as to make the next chapter more interesting.

9) What would be your advice to aspiring manga writers?

Research combined with deep interest in what you want to do, lots of studying, originality and a lot of imagination. Complete devotion to the ideas you want to bring to life and to the characters of the story.

However, they're worried about their sad, creepy daughter, so one day they decide that whatever Wakaba brings home next, they'll let her keep.

The next thing she brings home is a pink monster called "Pupipo," but her parents stand by their decision and let her keep it. No one is quite sure what Pupipo is, but it protects Wakaba from the other things she sees. Pupipo also helps Wakaba make friends with an occult-obsessed transfer student and solve problems with bullying. Wakaba's life is a much better place with her pet pink monster!

Out of curiosity behind this mysterious phenomenon, Akio pushes Shigeru and himself through the beacon of light. Next thing they know, they end up in the Edo period of warring Japan, in between the battle between the Iga and Kazama Ninja clans...!

This manga seems to be a spin-off prequel of the manga "Himitsu," which is about solving murder cases by using new technology that allows the viewing of memories in dead people's brains. This story occurs years earlier, in 2045, when the technology was just being developed. Ten years earlier, Maki Tsuyoshi's parents died in a fire. Following the fire, he has lived with his legal guardian, Sawamura Satoshi, whose face was burned off saving Tsuyoshi from the flames. Tsuyoshi is certain that his parents were murdered, but he has few clues to help him find their killers. They met with people that evening, but he can't remember their faces, only a certain symbol. That symbol is associated with a powerful secret society at Tokyo University, known as "Premium." Tsuyoshi enters Tokyo University, but he isn't invited to join the society, despite his top credentials. Instead, they invite the more social runner-up Suzuki Katsuhiro to join their ranks. Tsuyoshi approaches Katsuhiro in an attempt to get him to help check out the organization, and the two of them try to uncover what happened on that night so many years ago.

Thor enjoys Soah's childish enthusiasm, and the two of them share a warm friendship. One day, a Jotunn invading the town uses Soah as a human shield. Thor protects the town, but at the cost of the life of his young friend. Unwilling to let the strong-hearted boy die, Thor bestows his Megin upon Soah and vanishes. After much training, the now-powerful Soah begins to realize his dream, fighting against the Jotunn in Thor's place!

Nagare comes and goes at random hours, but won't tell Ikuru what he does at work (fighting aliens as the Earth's protector, Procyon). Nagare also doesn't seem to quite grasp some Earth customs. For instance, he makes his meals by taking all the separate foods and then blending them into a liquid. Ikuru refuses to accept him as a father, but he loves watching the exploits of the awesome Procyon. Will Nagare be able to get through to his new son without betraying his secret identity, and keep up with his work protecting Ikuru and the other humans?

There were some good ones this week. Sakamoto Desu Ga was really funny, though I don't know how well that kind of humor will work long-term for a manga. My Deepest Condolences was my favorite of the week, though. It's only one volume, and it was a surprisingly humorous story about a death. Their father sounded like a real character.

My opinion:
I'm a bit interested in reading Gyakuunmei no Hito since it's interesting to see how a real life fujoshi deals with a real life romance... Sakamoto desu ga? also piqued my interest as well. I don't know why, but reading how he's able to best anyone that goes against him and how he helps others might be interesting~

MH YEARBOOK 2012

True to tradition, the MH staff and members have been busy producing a yearbook for the year that has passed. The hard work has paid off, and I personally believe this is our best looking yearbook yet.

Please give a special thanks to the following staff and member, without whom I wouldn't have been able to finish this before 2014, possibly 2015.

Farfalla for making a load of pages and generally being awesome.
Josef K. for constantly nagging me to work...
Everyone who contributed to the yearbook in any way or form, whether through writing, art or mentally sending energy.
