Nodoka: ?!

3
Girls: Wha - ?!
Asakura: What is all this?!
Chisame: They're... demons?! / B - But this is still six years ago -
Asakura: This must still be... what happened to Negi's village! It's just a projection... I think...
Chisame: What's going on?!
Nodoka: ... // Sensei is...!
Negi: (It was... // ...you... // You did that to Stan-san...)

Chisame: H - Hey! Things don't look too good over here either! // The little Sensei's about to get killed by the demons!!
Asakura: We shouldn't have to worry about him!!
Chisame: B - But look... He's...
Asakura: Forget about that... look at the real Sensei!!
Negi: Nnnnghhh... / ...ghhhaaaaghhhh!! // GHHAAGHHH!

7
Girls: Wh - What on Earth?!! Negi-kun's... // Sensei's being surrounded by some kind of black mist...?! / That's not...
Gödel: ... // Magnificent. // I see... so this is the Gospel of Darkness'... Hahah. Negi-kun... The more I observe you... // ...the more I want you for my own.

8
Chisame: Wha - ?!
Asakura: Wh... What is that...?
Nodoka: Sen...sei...
Negi: Nghh...

Projection!Negi: ...Father? // Father!
Projection!Nagi: I probably don't have the right to say this, but... / You grow up strong. // Stong and happy!
Projection!Negi: Fath - // Fa... / ...ther... // Unn... hhh...

16
Projection!Negi: FATHEEEEEEEER!!! // [aside]waaahhhhh! // waaahhh...[/aside]
Negi: ...
Chisame: That day... / What you really found was...
[Diary: Father... I want to find you someday...]
Negi: Unn... / ...nghh...!
Nodoka: Sensei?!
Asakura: Negi-kun?!
Chisame: O - Oi! Are you all right?!
Negi: Y... Yes... / I'm... sorry, everyone...
[SFX: clap... / clap... / clap... // clap...]
People: ?!
[SFX: clap... / clap... / clap...]
Gödel: Hahaha... / Very well done, young ladies.

17
Gödel: You truly are Negi-kun's partners. // I thought that with Magia Erebea's influence making him less stable, Negi-kun might fall more easily... // ...but to think that a few mere girls with no power whatsoever could actually stop him. // Such a pity. // If he had gone just a little further, and killed me... / ...it would have been so much more convenient for my purposes.
Chisame: What...? // [aside]what's that supposed to...[/aside]
Asakura: ...Mr. Governor-General. // I'm afraid your words and actions are are so oblique and ambiguous, I'm having trouble understanding you. // How about... / ...you tell us what it is you're after.
Gödel: Hahah...

18
Evangeline: I see... // So the attack on the boy's village was the work of a portion of the Megalomesembrian Senate. // How stupid. / [aside]worthless humans...[/aside]
Imma: Ahah... I thought that would be your reaction.
Chachamaru': But why...? / What reason would the Megalomesembrian Senate, who are also the governing authority of Mahora Academy, have to destroy the village of the hero Nagi's son...?
Chachazero: 'Cause it's fun, of course! Why else?!
Eishun: Mm... Well, the thing is, Chachamaru-Dash-kun... / [aside]Mahora and Megalomesembria are largely independent of one another, and...[/aside]
Evangeline: The issue is, Chachamaru, // that to a number of that country's citizens, / the boy wasn't "the son of the hero Nagi"... // ...but rather "the son of Arika, Queen of Calamity". // [aside]am I right?[/aside]
Imma: [aside]ehm......[/aside]
[SFX: ding-dong!♪]
Imma: [aside]well, pretty much!♡[/aside]
[Insert text: The truth of the tragedy is a tangled and complex tale. Next issue, Gödel's true objective becomes clear...?!!]

Hello cnet, just a little thing, in 'chachamaru 's lines, didn't you forget to translate the 「かつて」 part just before 「英雄」 ? "former hero" and not simply "hero"?
Also, do you think that, a few lines later, translating 「かの国の一部の人間達」 by "a number of that country's citizens" is really a good idea, considering that normal citizens doesn't know at all about the fact that "negi is the son of arika"? Since it looks like only higher ups know about it, maybe using something else than "citizens" would be less misleading?

While I'm at it, I may as well ask you about something else if you don't mind.
It's about the part ".it would have been so much more convenient for my purposes." (page 17)
in Japanese, as far as I can tell, you can't say if he's talking about it being convenient for his purpose, or rather for negi. So while I came with the same conclusion than you (that is,dying would have been convenient for goedel and not for negi), I can't explain properly what made me think that way. Probably the way he's saying "If he had gone just a little further, and killed me..." with the 「いってくれれば」 part, especially.

So I'm really interested in what part of the japanese text, in the end, made you choose this translation.

Anyway, that was fast, as always^^". No actually , maybe even faster than usual, don't you usually translate fairy tail before negima? :p

"Former hero" doesn't really sound right in English, though, does it? Makes it sound like he did something to stop being a hero.

Ehm, what would you suggest? Can't really think of much other than 'citizens' to describe the people of a nation >_<

Well, surely when someone refers to something with 都合がいい it kind of automatically implies that they're talking about it being convenient to themselves >_< But yes, his attitude, and especially the くれれば, makes it more clear. 〜くれる always refers to doing something for the benefit of the speaker.

Well, you're the native English speaker here, not me :p.
I'm wondering if it's referring to the fact that people think that he's already dead? There must b a reason for her to use かつて after all. So maybe something along the lines of "deceased hero"?

Again, since I'm not a native speaker and far from it actually, I don't have the same knowledge than you about the English language but... What about simply using "people of this country" or something like this instead of 'country's citizens' like you just did when answering me? :p Wouldn't this be less misleading?

Hmmm AFAIK, it doesn't. After all, you can also say 「都合がよければ」, and it's obviously not about you in this case, so I don't see why 「都合がいい」 could only be about yourself.

〜くれる always refers to doing something for the benefit of the speaker. yes, the くれる part was what made me think that it was like this too. But since it wasn't really enough for me to be sure that it was the good way of translating it, I wanted to know if I didn't miss anything else.

Thanks for taking the time of answering my questions ;).

Ah, well, inquiring of others is different. There are plenty of things that only refer to yourself when used declaratively, but can also be used of others when inquiring or speaking hypothetically. Off the top of my head, there's the 〜たい form, for instance. You can only say 〜何々がしたいです of yourself; when talking of others, you'd use the 〜たがる form instead. However, 何々がしたいですか? or 何々がしたければ… are perfectly feasible.

I'm not completely certain that 都合がいい can only refer to your own 都合 when used declaratively like this, but that's the gut instinct I get *shrug*

I see. Well, you may be right. About your example, well, yes, I thought about this also when answering you, but that's more due to grammar rules than anything else in this case.
For 都合, that would be because of an "usage" (I don't know if I'm understandable here >_<)and not a " grammar rule".
I'll see if I can find something about this ^^"
