I spent quite a while trying to track down the names mentioned in the last few
pages of this chapter. I’m pretty sure that they’re all references to Irish
mythology but I’m not entirely sure.

Erin (or Eriu) is the matron goddess of Ireland and one of three sisters in
mythology. Her name is the origin for the modern word “land.”

Brionac is the supposed name of the spear of Lugh, a Irish deity who is
represented as a great hero and king of the distant past. Most sources name his spear as “Areadbhar” but there is one book called the Seiken Densetsu that was published in Japan that refers to it as Brionac.
