影人： その方に息子は「獣の槍」にふさわしい者であるか
見極める役を与えます。
Shadowed
Figure: You will test your son to determine whether he is the
rightful wielder of the Beast Spear.


禰宜たち： なんと！「お役目様*」、その者は。。。
その者は、このやつの息子ですぞ！
Priests: What! Oyakume-sama, he is…
He is Shigure’s son!

*”Oyakume-sama” means something along the lines of “the one who holds the role” or
“the one who performs the duty”, which is a mouthful so I’m sticking with the title as name as I did withUmizatou.

お役目様： 私の言葉に不服ですか？
Oyakume-sama: Do you disagree with my pronouncement?

禰宜たち： あ。。。いえ　そのような。。。
Priests: Oh…no, I didn’t mean…

お役目様： 紫暮。。。
Oyakume-sama: Shigure.

紫暮： は。。。
Shigure: Yes?


お役目様： 寺院数九千、信徒数六百万の大宗門、光覇明宗。。。
Oyakume-sama: Our Kouhamei sect had 9000 temple and 6 million adherents…

お役目様： ですが、仏の教えを説く宗教としての
顔とは別に光覇明宗は。。。
Oyakume-sama: And yet, the face which preaches the teachings of Buddha
is not all there is to the Kouhamei sect…

お役目様： その教えの中に宗教とはなれた闇の伝承をもっているのです。
そしてそれに伝える我々の使命は。。。
Oyakume-sama: Carried within those teachings is the dark legend we are all familiar
with. Our mission, conveyed to us in these teachings, is-


お役目様： 「獣の槍」を護ること。
Oyakume-sama: To safeguard the Beast Spear

お役目様： そしてかの白面の者を四度眠りにつかせるために。
Oyakume-sama: In order to force Hakumen no Mono* into sleep for the fourth time.

*”Hakumen no Mono” translates to “the White-Faced One”.

お役目様： 常にそれを使える者を育てきたるべき日にそなえよ。
白面の者が四度目覚める時にー
Oyakume-sama: We have raised those who will be able to serve in this endeavor
and have prepared for the day when Hakumen no Mono awakens
for the fourth time.


お役目様： おぬしたち法力をもつ者が全国に散って、
妖怪を封じておくのもすべてそのためです。
Oyakume-sama: Those of us with houriki* are scattered around the country,
all in order to seal youkai.

*”houriki” is spiritual power gained from following the teachings of Buddhism.

お役目様： 今、槍はぬかれました。
Oyakume-sama: Now, the Spear is out.

お役目様： これこそ白面の者復活の兆やもしれません。。。
間違いは許されないのですよ。。。
Oyakume-sama: This may be a sign of Hakumen no Mono’s resurrection.
A mistake now would be unforgiveable.


紫暮： 心得ております。。。
Shigure: I will take that to heart…

禰宜たち： まったく「お役目様」もどうかしておいでた！
「獣の槍」だぞ！
Priest: Unbelievable! How can Oyakume-sama allow this!
It’s the Beast Spear!


禰宜たち： ほかの事柄ならともかく「獣の槍」のコトを
あのように軽々しく。。。！
Priest: She would never treat any other matter in the frivolous way
she is treating the Beast Spear!

禰宜たち： 紫暮の息子から槍をとりあげて我らが決めた
候補者の誰かに渡してしまえばよい！
Priest: We are decided. We should take the Spear from Shigure’s son
And give it to one of the Chosen!


禰宜たち： しかし。。。あそこの蔵は過去なん度となく
我々が試みたが扉はあかなかったのにのう。
Priest: However… We have tested the doors of that cellar many times
in the past, never to have them open.

成宗： そんなコトより「獣の槍」が今どうなっているか心配だ！
Jousou: We should worry about what we will do about the Beast Spear
now, not about the past!


禰宜たち： ああ。。。あの槍は生きているといわれておるからな。。。
粗末な扱いなどをするともつこともできずに
くされて死ぬともいわれているからのう。
Priest: Well…It has been said that the Spear is alive.
It is also said it cannot be treated or handled crudely or
the handler will rot to death.


禰宜たち： なにもしらないおろか者に渡ってまたなん年も
行方がわからなくなっては。。。
Priest: To hand it over to someone who knows nothing,
one who knows nothing of our mission…


禰宜たち： なにか手をうたねば！！
Priests: Measures must be taken!

Ushio: Jeez!

潮： えーと
Ushio: Uuuum…

潮： オヤジのやつにも困ったもんだ。。。
Ushio: Pops is such a pain in my butt.

潮： あっこれこれ
Ushio: Oh, this one!

潮： あんなに放浪しててよく住職をやってけるな～
Ushio: Head priests sure do travel around a lot~


とら： うん！　なかなかいからあ
Tora: Hm, this is pretty good!

Ushio: What the hell!!


とら： うるせーっ。腕は食わなかったらいいだろーっ！
Tora: What are you whining about! I didn’t actually eat your arm!

潮： あっちゃあ～
Ushio: AAAAAARRRGGHHH!!


とら： やったあ！すてろっすてっちまえそんな槍！
ついでにおまえもゴミ箱いきよっ！！
Tora: Yay! You’re throwing away the Spear!
Get in the trash yourself while you’re at it!


潮： やかましいっ！
Ushio: You annoying little-


潮： 教えてみるとこの槍もずいぶんオレのことをたすけてくれたんだなァ。
Ushio: This spear has warned me of danger and saved me before.

潮： これなっかたらとらのヤツにもくわれてたもんなァ。
Ushio: Without it, that damned Tora would have eaten me by now.


潮： だから、不気味な槍なのにコワイなんて気がしないのかなあ。。。
Ushio: But, even without the weird spear, I don’t feel afraid of him.

Shigure: You idiot!!


紫暮： この「獣の槍」なあ、恐ろしい由来をもってはいるが、
妖怪をたおし退けるありがたあい槍なのよ！！
Shigure: The Beast Spear is a weapon with a terrible origin,
a blessed spear to exorcise youkai!

潮： オ。。。オヤジ。。。
Ushio: P-Pops

紫暮： それをなんだおめーは！？カップめんの重しにするわ！
ソーセージきるわ！！
Shigure: What the hell are you doing using it as a cup ramen weight
and cutting sausages with it!!


紫暮： バチが総出であたるまくるぞくそボケナスがっ！！
Shigure: We’ll all be struck down with divine retribution, you dumb shit!

潮： オヤジ オヤジ。。。
Ushio: Pops Pops!


潮： その槍がふんでるぜ。
Ushio: You’re stepping on the spear.

紫暮： げえええええっ！！
Shigure: Geeeeeeeeeeee!!!


紫暮： うわーっ。　許してまえ　許してまえ、ごめんなさいいーっ。
Shigure: Uwa~ Forgive me, forgive me, I’m so sorry!

潮： おーい。
Ushio: Come on!

とら： いきなり帰ってきてやかましいコトこの上もないな。。。
Tora: It suddenly got a lot more loud and annoying in here once he got
home…

潮： オヤジ。。。今日こそ母ちゃんのコト話してもらうぞ。
Ushio: Pops, today’s the day you tell me about my mother.


紫暮： わかった。。。夕めしのあとでな。。。
Shigure: I know. After supper.

潮： 逃げるなよ。。。
Ushio: Don’t try running off.

Shigure: Well, Ushio..

紫暮： 母さんのコトなんてきいてどうする？
Shigure: What was I supposed to do when you asked about your mother?


紫暮： 死んだということじゃ。。。だめなのか？
Shigure: I guess telling you she was dead was wrong.


潮： オレさ。。。
Ushio: I..

潮： 海、いってさ。。。タツヤってガキにあったんだ。
そいつ死んだ母ちゃんのコトをすっげー大事におもってんのな。。。
なんかオレ。。。タツヤみてはずかしくなっちまった。。。
Ushio: When I went to the sea…I met this kid. Tatsuya.
His dead mother was really important to him.
Somehow, I…I was embarrassed seeing that.


潮： オレは母ちゃんなんてしらないし。。。
別にどーでもいいって思ってた。。。
でも。。。違うんだよ。。。
Ushio: I never knew my mother…
I thought I was okay with that but…
I wasn’t.


潮： 違うんだよ！たとえオレがガキでも
本当のコトはちゃんと受けとめなきゃなんないんだよ！
どんなひでーコトでも、家族のコトは受けとめて
ねじふせて生きていかなくちゃなんない。
Ushio: I’m not! Even if I am a kid, I can take the truth!
However horrible it is, I can live with knowing what happened to
my family!


潮： 本当のコト教えてくれオヤジ！
Ushio: Tell me the truth, Pops!

潮： オレを都合のいいウソにくるまってる
ヒキョー者にしないでくれよっ。
Ushio: You’ve been wrapping me up in convenient lies.
Stop being such a coward!

Ushio: Wh-what’s this?

紫暮： １２０万あるとってけ。。。
Shigure: There’s 1.2 million yen there.


潮： なんの冗談だよ。。。
Ushio: You’re kidding me.


潮： オヤジ。。。
Ushio: Pops…


潮： いっ、いくら てめーの都合があるからって、
金やってだまらすってのは。。。ちょっと。。。
ひどすぎんじゃねーのか。。。
Ushio: You think you can just get out of this…
that you can shut me up…with any amount of money?
That’s too cruel.


潮： オレは。。。
Ushio: I’m-


潮： オレはマジなんだぞっ！！！
Ushio: I’m serious!!

Shigure: Fu…fufufu. You birdbrain.


紫暮： 誰がそんなコトいったんだ。そりゃ、旅費よ。
Shigure: Who said any such thing? It’s traveling money.

潮： 旅費？
Ushio: Traveling money?

紫暮： 母さんのコトがしりたくば
おまえは旅をしなければならない。。。
Shigure: You’ll have to make a journey
if you want to learn about your mother.


潮： 旅を。。。？
Ushio: A journey?

紫暮： 母さんがどういう人か、どうしているのかは
わたしの口からはいうまい。。。
おまえが旅にでて自分の目で耳で確かめてこい。
Shigure: I will not tell you what kind of person your mother is
or what she’s doing now.
Go on this journey and you will learn it with your own eyes and ears.


紫暮： 北海道のおじさんはしってるな。。。？
Shigure: You remember your uncle in Hokkaidou?

潮： う。。。うん。確か旭川たった。
Ushio: Y-yeah. I think he’s in Asahikawa.


紫暮： じゃあ、まずはそこにいってみろ！
Shigure: Well, try going there first.

そんなにややこしいことになってんのか。。。？
Ushio: Pops, did Mom make it this complicated?


紫暮： ああ。。。
Shigure: Well…

紫暮： おまえが考えれんほどにな。。。
Shigure: It’s not what you think.


紫暮： おそらく。。。つらいぞ。。。
Shigure: I dare say…it’ll be hard going.

潮： なーに　オヤジ、オレしばらくの間に
ずいぶん強くなったんだぜ。 いくさ！
Ushio: What are you talking about, Pops?
I’ve gotten pretty damn strong in a short time.
I’m going!

Jousou: We’re of one mind. We will obtain the Beast Spear.
No average boy will stand in our way.


成宗: 「お役目様」には私から話しておこう。
おまえたちは「とら」と少年が呼ぶ妖怪を滅ぼし、
槍をもちて帰れ。
Jousou: I will talk with Oyakume-sama.
You will destroy the youkai the boy calls “Tora”
and bring back the Spear.

紫暮： おまえもけっこうキツイ「打ち」をうてるようになったな。
Shigure: You do pack quite a punch nowadays.


紫暮： ふふ気がつかなかったわ。
Shigure: Hm hm… I hadn’t even noticed.

潮： オヤジ。。。なんで着がえてんだよもう夜だぜ。
Ushio: Pops, why are changing into your robes? It’s already nighttime.


紫暮： うしお。。。
もうひとつおぬしに話してなかったことがある。。。
Shigure: Ushio… There’s one more thing I haven’t told you.

who travels around Japan sealing dangerous bakemono!

*”hourikisou” is a priest who can use “houriki”, the spiritual power of belief in Buddhism.

Tora: Quiet down.
I’m right here haunting this guy.
You don’t have to scream.


紫暮： 今日は故あってそちを封じ、消滅しに参った。
願わくば堂々立ちあわれんことを。
Shigure: Owing to unavoidable circumstances,
I have come here today to either seal or destroy you.
I wish to match my skills against your magnificence.


潮： オヤジ　な。。。なに、いってんだよ？
Ushio: Pops! Wh-what are you talking about!

とら： うしお、おめーのオヤジはとんだくわせものよ！
Tora: Ushio, your old man is an utter fake!


とら： おまえの前じゃただの凡クラオヤジだったかもしれんが、
わしに時々叩きつけてきた「気」は凡クラどころじゃなかったからな。
Tora: The man before you is no normal idiotic middleager.
The ki I have felt from time to time couldn’t have come from
something so unremarkable.

紫暮： とら殿　いざ！
Shigure: Tora-dono, come.

とら： おうよ、やってやらあ。消滅させると
までいわれて引き下がれるかい！
Tora: Ho-ho, I’m coming. Would I run after
you said you’ll destroy me?


潮： ハ。。。ハハ。　冗談だろ。。オヤジ。。。冗談キツイざぜ。。。
もうオレ、今日　いろんなコトあって。。。切れちまうよ。。。
Ushio: Ha…..ha ha. It’s a joke. Pops, it’s just a bad joke.
I don’t think I can take it after everything that’s happened today.

Ushio: So… ha ha… that’s enough, Pops.

Ushio: You too, Tora.

紫暮： なぐられてやったのはセンベツがわりだ。
Shigure: I’ll consider that punch a going-away present.


紫暮： もっとなぐりたかったら。。。帰ってこい。
Shigure: If you want to fight some more…come home safe.


潮： オヤジっ　おい、とらっ！
Ushio: Pops! Tora!

潮： マジかよ。。。
Ushio: They’re serious!


潮： おっおいっ！
Ushio: W-wait!

Tora: Hmph. This priest is pretty good.


潮： ちくしょ～　夢みてるみたいだぜ～
Ushio: Dammit~ It’s like watching a dream…

潮： オヤジがこんな力をもってとらとやりあってるなんてよ～
Ushio: Where did Pops get the power to go up against Tora?


潮： で。。。でも、
Ushio: B-but-

潮： やめろよ　オヤジ！　やめろよ　とらあ！！
Ushio: Stop, Pops! Stop this, Tora!


潮： やめろってばよ～っ！
Ushio: Dammit, quit it!
