京の都が、大きな戦でまる焼けになったとか、
そんなことはどうでもいいことだ。。。
Tora: It was the reign of the 9th Ashikaga Shougun…
The capital was burned to the ground in a great battle
but that had nothing to do with me…

とら： わしはただのこの牙で、人間どもの血肉をすする。。。
Tora: I rip at the flesh and blood of humans with these fangs…

とら： この爪で、ケンカを売ってくる妖どもをひき千切る。。。
Tora: With these claws, I tear bakemono who vex me…

とら： そして独りで闇を歩く。。。
Tora: And I walk alone in darkness…

とら： それがあたりまえだ。。。

But…three nights before, I suddenly came face to face

草太郎： 怖いよう～早く終わらせたい～！
Soutarou: I’m so scared~ I just want this to be over quickly!

Soutarou: HIH!

とら： その槍が放つでっけえ妖気といい、おまえの斬撃といい、
おまえはわしが戦った人間の中じゃ最強だ！
Tora: With that spear, pouring out all the youki, and your slashing attacks,
you’re the strongest human being I’ve ever fought!

とら： それが何でおめーはすっとそーなんだよ！？
まったくやる気なくなるぜ。
Tora: So what the hell’s your problem!?
It’s like you don’t even want to do this!

草太郎： ぴーっ。
Soutarou: EEEEP!

草太郎： 儂だっていやじゃあー。お主はべらぼーに強いんじゃもの～！
Soutarou: I don’t! You’re absurdly powerful!

Sounds like fun!

とら： わしは前からそんな名のあるヤツと戦いたかったのよ！
よーし、本気でいくぜ！！
Tora: I’ve long wanted to fight such a thing!

Soutarou: It’s the human sacrifice of the Yamawara…

Tora: Huh?

Soutarou: A-AAAHH!

草太郎： みさを～っ。
Soutarou: Misawo!

とら： な、何だよ～
Tora: W-what now!?

Tora: You’re making a fool of me!

草太郎： 儂なんてどうなっても良い！
Soutarou: It doesn’t matter what happens to me!

草太郎： じゃがみさをだけは～
Soutarou: As long as Misawo lives!

とら： ああもう！！
Tora: Ah, jeez!!

とら： だから、みさをって誰だよ！？
あの行列は何なんだよっ。
Tora: Who the hell’s Misawo!?
What is that procession for?

＊田畑などを管理する、村の長。
*The village chief, who manages the fields and whatnot

草太郎： あの行列は、十年に一度娘を人身御供に出す、山の宮へ行列じゃ。
Soutarou: It’s a procession to a mountain temple that happens once every 10 years,
where they’ll perform a human sacrifice.

草太郎： みさをは村の名主*の娘だあ！
Soutarou: Misawo is the Headman’s* daughter!

恩施村という。。。
Soutarou: I’m from a nearby village
called Onze.

草太郎： 儂はそこの小作のせがれとして生まれた。
Soutarou: I was born the son of a tenant farmer.

草太郎： 何につけてもとろいタチで。。。
おまけに意気地がない。。。
Soutarou: I was slow at everything…
and timid on top of that…

草太郎： 同年輩の子供らからも馬鹿にされ。。。
いつも一人でいじめられておった。。。
Soutarou: I was made fun of by the kids my own age…
And they tormented me when I was alone…

みさを： 草太郎　ほら、いつまでも泣いてんな。
Misawo: Soutarou, come now. How long are you going to cry?

草太郎： でも。。。
みさをはちごうた。。。
名主の一人娘　むら一番の器量良し。。。
Soutarou: But…
Misawo was different…
She’s the only daughter of the Headman
and the prettiest girl in the village…

草太郎： そんなあいつはどういうわけか。。。
儂のようなみそかすにも優しゅうしてくれた。。。
Soutarou: That a girl like that…
would be so nice to a twerp like me…

草太郎： 儂は根性ナシじゃ。。。みんながやっとる岩飛びもできねえ。。。
Soutarou: I can’t stand up to anyone…they all throw rocks at me…

おらがそれを聞いてよろこんで。。。

Soutarou: Being good at the reed pipe…won’t mean much in battle.

みさを： 草太郎は、侍になりてえのか。。。
Misawo: You want to be a samurai, Soutarou?

草太郎： みんな、侍になりたがっとる。。。儂も。。。侍になりゃァ。。。
Soutarou: Everyone wants to be a samurai…so I should become one…

草太郎： 。。。なりゃ。。。

Misawo: I like the Soutarou who plays the reed pipe

とら： けっ、つまねえハナシだ。
Tora: Keh, stupid story.

とら： それでおめえは、サムライになったんだろ。
Tora: So then you became a samurai.

草太郎： ああ。。。
儂は。。。村一番のみさをに。。。
Soutarou: Yes…
I wanted to become a man who was worthy…

草太郎： つり合う男になりたかったんじゃ。
Soutarou: of Misao, the best girl in the village.

草太郎： じゃが。。。
戦は怖かった。。。
Soutarou: But…
I was afraid…

草太郎： 首級が飛び、耳や鼻や。。。
腸や糞便が散らかるーそれが、戦。。。
Soutarou: Decapitated heads and ears and noses flying past…
Guts and feces spread everywhere- that is war…

In an instant, I was separated from my comrades…

Soutarou: I was helpless…

草太郎： おかしくなるかと思うたその時に。。。
Souratou: It’s strange to think that that was the moment…

草太郎： 獣の槍と、
出会うたのじゃ。。。
Soutarou: I met up
with the Beast Spear…

草太郎： それから。。。儂は獣の槍で妖を退治するようになった。
Soutarou: Since then…I’ve been excorcising bakemono with the Beast Spear.

とら： けっ、情けねえ　おまえが、人助けで妖退治だと！？
大それてるぜ！！
Tora: Keh, a pitiful man like you exorcises bakemono to save people!?
That’s outrageous!!

草太郎： 儂もそう思うわ。。。
じゃがな！
Soutarou: That’s what I thought!
But…

草太郎： 槍に囁かれ、力を貸してもらおうと。。。
それで儂の魂が削られようと。。。
Soutarou: The Spear whispers to me. It gives me strength…
But even so, I’m afraid…

草太郎： たとえ儂がどんなに怖かろうが！
Soutarou: That it’s cutting away my soul…

Soutarou: It is! It’s lonely~

草太郎： 妖、おまえにはわからんのか。
Soutarou: Bakemono, don’t you understand?

草太郎： 人はひとりぼっちじゃ生きてゆけんのじゃ。
Soutarou: People can’t live on their own.

みさを： おまえが草笛を吹いて。。。
おらがそれを聞いてよろこんで。。。
それだけもう生きててええってことだァ。。。
Misawo: When you play the reed pipe…

サムライにゃなれたんだろ。
Tora: Keh! But now you haven’t been back to that village…
You became a samurai.

Soutarou: -hn!

Tora: Huh. And you’re saving that girl?

Soutarou: But Misawo-

草太郎： みさをがつかまっているんじゃ。。。

Soutarou: No! Misawo!!

草太郎： みさをが死んじまう～
Soutarou: Misawo’s going to die~

草太郎： 今までどんな死んじまいたくても生きてきたのは。。。
Soutarou: I kept living all this time, even when I wanted to die…

草太郎： この世のどこかにみさをが生きていると思ってたからじゃ～
Soutarou: Because I knew somewhere in this world, Misawo was alive~

草太郎： みさをが死ぬねんていやじゃ～
Soutarou: Misao can’t die!

草太郎： 儂は一人ぼっちはいやじゃあ～
Soutarou: I don’t want to be alone!

Tora: Hey!

ここのつ： そこォ！
Kokonotsu: You!

ここのつ： うるさいんだよォ、
どこの妖だァ、この「ここのつ」の山で。。。
