I like this explanation better than the " this body is rejecting me " one.
But again my Japanese is too basic to judge.
in the next frame he says "have patience, patience, I have sasuke!"
that was the kanji, I couldn't find it anywhere even though I found all four together. Stupid IME doesn't even have the glyph :P how were you able to find/type it?

This character is part from a "supplementary character set" containing mostly obscure kanji, and which is not coded by Shift-JIS. I found this on

and the list of these "supplementary" is found on
http://ftp.monash.edu.au/pub/nihongo/kanjd212.gz
To give you an idea, here is one of these characters :
[亖] シ よ よ.つ よっ.つ よん {four}
Bet you've never seen that one either :)
By the way, I saw you translated 耳順 by forced retirement. I put retirement myself, but it was
more or less a shot in the dark. Do you have more info on that word?
This style of business has started to die out in favor of more western-style practices, but the concept of forcing the kyuubi to retire for the moment seemed to fit. As usual :), I took some liberty with it, but I liked the sound of it. It was all I could do to not translate the 座 on his hand as "Know your role" :D
Thanks for the links btw. So is there no way to natively type them with just the IME?
I suppose if you take it literally for the characters it uses, 耳順 (i.e. "ears become obedient") does work for a jutsu that forces submission. The roundabout way of interpreting it (ie. 耳順 = different way to say age 60 = retirement = submission) seems a tad bit more forced to me.

Fair enough. It was the only way I could think of to make it a semi-readable, not ridiculous-sounding jutsu. What would you have called it?
I'm using an English windows, but I do have those options available with the IME. Perhaps that extra set isn't provided to non-Japanese OS's. Or any of my dictionaries, for that matter >P
Even with knowing the characters (it took me a while to find them myself) the meaning is most certainly not clear. And with Nihongaeri's explanation a suitable name still proves difficult.

Maybe it is a font thing. I can see it displayed, but I couldn't find the character in Edict or Kanjdic. It WAS listed in the 212 supplement, but from the explanation it doesn't look like there's any standardized support for it, at least on an XP English.
I think that works... A fox is very much like a dog. When they submit to a master (or alpha), they lay their ears down...during the battle they were up in full awareness mode
But anyhow, I was at the library today and did a tad bit of research on the "ten" character from "nitten". The character that appeared in Naruto, 鄽, is appearently equlivent to both 廛 and 壥. There was also another version of the character that appeared in Naruto that just extended the 广 to cover the 阝 on the right. All four characters were used in the "nittensuishu" phrase depending on what reference I looked in.
