To be honest, I was gonna skip out this week, but it looks like 296 needs the ol' HBK magic.

Page 1:
Title: Emotional climax!

Text: The talented deer
Yawns out in the open field
Without hiding it   ( I KNEW I could make it a haiku)

Page 2:
Text: Apprehension creeps over Sakura!

Kabuto: This isn't a battle between ninja...

It's a battle between monsters...
Hahaha...

SakurA: Naruto...

Page 3:
Yamato: Naruto was knocked all the way over here...
Orochimaru: Amazing...even the sword  of Kusanagi couldn't pierce him...

Page 4:
Explosion, surprise, landings

Page 5:
Naruto: RUOOOOOOOOOOAR!

Kabuto: And to think...
His desire to save Sasuke-kun is what drove him to this...

Naruto: I swear I'll come back with Sasuke!
Promise of a lifetime!

Sakura-chan...
I couldn't keep my promise...

I never go back on my word...
That's my "Ninja way!"

Kabuto: He's not even aware of what he's doing anymore...

Page 6:
Naruto: Grrrrr...
Yamato: Sakura, stop!
Stay away from Naruto!

Page 7:
Sakura: Naruto!
That's...
that's enough!

I'll help you save Sasuke-kun!
So please!
Please, Naruto...!

Yamato: Shit!

Page 8:
Sai: What's going on?
Is Naruto dead?

Page 9:
Sai: Now's my change...
Orochimaru: Urgh...
That's all I can take...

I knew this would happen...The strain's causing my body to reject any more fighting...
Playtime's...over.

Heheh...
Hahahaha...

Page 10:
Orochimaru: I must...PERSEVERE...
I have Sasuke-kun!!

Kabuto: Ha.

Sakura: Errrgh...
Naruto: Grrr...

Page 11:
Yamato: Damnit, I took too long...

Page 12:
Yamato: I don't think so.
Kabuto: Don't jump to conclusions.
I'm done with you guys for now.
In fact, I don't see the need for us to fight at all.

Yamato: Excuse me?

Page 13:
Kabuto: Our groups share the same viewpoint.
We both want Akatsuki out of the picture.

If we let you live,
you might take out another one of them for us.

Sakura: Naruto...

Page 14:
Naruto: GRRRAAH!
Kabuto: Then again, he's YOUR problem.
You'll have to take care of him yourself.

Orochimaru-sama probably needs to get out of here.
Yamato: Ugh...

Page 15:
Yamato: Gotta do it now!
Hokage-shiki Jijun jutsu! (Hokage-style forced retirement jutsu!)
Kakuan Nitten Suishu! (Return of Innocence - Enclosing Palm!)

Kanji on hand: Za (Seat/Position, kinda like a "Be seated" thing)
Page 16:
Naruto: ARGH!

Page 17:
SakurA: Naruto...
Naruto: GHRRRRA!  [Every time she says that, he screams in agony.  You'd think she'dve learned after four times!]

Sai: I am not your enemy.  I work for Danzou-sama.
Can I please talk to you for a moment?

Text: The dust settles after a violent, painful battle...
And he begins to act.
What is he plotting?

Nice translation.

鄽 is the kanji you couldn't read? I think it means "store or shop" and is read みせ like 店

I like this translation, seems very mature.
The words are very well chosed.

"I knew this would happen...The strain's causing my body to reject any more fighting...
Playtime's...over."

I like this explanation better than the " this body is rejecting me " one.

But again my Japanese is too basic to judge.

the "this body is rejecting me " is accurate. The strain of the fight has caused the new body to reject the "orochimaru" spirit(?)

in the next frame he says "have patience, patience, I have sasuke!"

bruce,

that was the kanji, I couldn't find it anywhere even though I found all four together.  Stupid IME doesn't even have the glyph :P how were you able to find/type it?

Actually I used IME :)

IME> handwriting search.  Then I drew 墨 on the left with ウ冠 on the top and it popped up!

This character is part from a "supplementary character set" containing mostly obscure kanji, and which is not coded by Shift-JIS. I found this on

http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~jwb/kanjd212_doc.html

and the list of these "supplementary" is found on

http://ftp.monash.edu.au/pub/nihongo/kanjd212.gz

To give you an idea, here is one of these characters :

[亖] シ よ よ.つ よっ.つ よん {four}

Bet you've never seen that one either :)

By the way, I saw you translated 耳順 by forced retirement. I put retirement myself, but it was
more or less a shot in the dark. Do you have more info on that word?

Literally, it means "The age of 60", which in the traditional japanese business model is the age where you are forced into retirement, literally. Big companies/organizations won't hire you back until you're 65 (and even then it's usually in a mentoring type of capacity), so if you wanted to work you'd need to open your own little shop or something.

This style of business has started to die out in favor of more western-style practices, but the concept of forcing the kyuubi to retire for the moment seemed to fit. As usual :), I took some liberty with it, but I liked the sound of it. It was all I could do to not translate the 座 on his hand as "Know your role" :D

Thanks for the links btw. So is there no way to natively type them with just the IME?

Literally, it means "The age of 60"Well, literally I suppose it means "ears become obedient". 耳順 comes of the words of Confucius, which was a reference to what he said he experienced upon becoming 60. Hence, later, in Japan at least, it become a way of referring to the age of 60...

I suppose if you take it literally for the characters it uses, 耳順 (i.e. "ears become obedient") does work for a jutsu that forces submission. The roundabout way of interpreting it (ie. 耳順 = different way to say age 60 = retirement = submission) seems a tad bit more forced to me.

Not sure if you'd have those input options if you're not using a Japanese version of Windows though.

Fair enough. It was the only way I could think of to make it a semi-readable, not ridiculous-sounding jutsu. What would you have called it?

I'm using an English windows, but I do have those options available with the IME. Perhaps that extra set isn't provided to non-Japanese OS's. Or any of my dictionaries, for that matter >P

"submission technique"? *obedience technique"? I have no idea... Part of me wants to see how it actually plays out before I actually assign a name to it...

I notice that only some fonts have it... So maybe it's a font issue? Then again, I'm assuming you can see it displayed... so I don't know. The character itself, I believe, was listed on Edict.

I myself used "Obdience Technique" but the other part of the move name was total gibberish until Nihongaeri cleared that up. I'm curious as to what you will eventually decide to call this move, Nihongaeri. This one is a doozy to translate.

Even with knowing the characters (it took me a while to find them myself) the meaning is most certainly not clear. And with Nihongaeri's explanation a suitable name still proves difficult.

Yeah, unfortunately we're kinda obligated to put SOMEthing there. I'm sure there'll be some exposition in the next couple chapters.

Maybe it is a font thing. I can see it displayed, but I couldn't find the character in Edict or Kanjdic. It WAS listed in the 212 supplement, but from the explanation it doesn't look like there's any standardized support for it, at least on an XP English.

I think that works... A fox is very much like a dog. When they submit to a master (or alpha), they lay their ears down...during the battle they were up in full awareness mode

But anyhow, I was at the library today and did a tad bit of research on the "ten" character from "nitten". The character that appeared in Naruto, 鄽, is appearently equlivent to both 廛 and 壥. There was also another version of the character that appeared in Naruto that just extended the 广 to cover the 阝 on the right. All four characters were used in the "nittensuishu" phrase depending on what reference I looked in.
