For those who read my original translation of the script in the spoiler section, this new revision is a lot easier to read - specially Yahiko's lines in the conversation with Jiraiya over dinner.

Page 1.

Adorned with eyes devoid of pity, another Pain appears. What secrets dwell within this new form?

372: A Country in Tears

Page 2.

Jiraiya and Konan...what is their relationship!?

Panel 2:

Jiraiya: Here I was, thinking you were dead...

Jiraiya: Never imagined I'd see you again, as sheets of paper...

Panel 4:

Shinobi A: You... You're ... The Emissary Angel!

Panel 5:

Jiraiya: First God and now Angels?... Guess that makes you, Konan, this "god
's" proxy...

Page 3.

Panel 1:

Shinobi A: Thi...this man's an intruder!

Shinobi A: I beg you to -

Panel 2:

Konan: Stay back.

Panel 3:

Shinobi A: Ye...yes, mam!

Panel 4:

Jiraiya: Just who or what is Pain?

Panel 5:

Konan: None of your business, Sensei.

Page 4.

Panel 2:

Jiraiya: That supposed to be your Angel get-up?

Panel 3:

Konan: God's orders! I'm to kill you.

Page 6.

Panel 3:

Gama yudan*!

*Toad oil blast

Panel 4:

*chah...* (sound of drenched paper).

Page 7.

Panel 2:

Jiraiya: You won't be peeling off anywhere with that oil on you.

Panel 3:

Jiraiya: You always did like origami, and were the most gentle of the three...

Panel 5:

Jiraiya: What happened to the other two?

Jiraiya: Rumors of them being dead are false, I take it?

Panel 7:

Jiraiya: I figured as much...

Page 8.

Panel 1:

Jiraiya: So, which one of them is "Pain"?

Panel 2:

Konan: Just why come looking for us, after all these years!?

Panel 3:

Jiraiya: I wasn't looking for you -

Jiraiya: I was looking for "Akatsuki."

Panel 4:

Jiraiya: I heard you were dead...

Jiraiya: Never imagined you'd ended up as you are now.

Panel 5:

Konan: I know what you're thinking...

Konan: You're thinking you should have done as Orochimaru said back then.

Panel 6:

Konan: But you didn't. You saved us.

Konan: And it's too late now... we made the decision to follow his* ideals.

*no specification of who "he" (of his ideals fame) is.

Panel 7:

Jiraiya: Pain...

Jiraiya: It's him, isn't it*?

*Lit. "it's that child." What needs to be clear is that Jiraiya is not necessarily saying the previous "he" is Pain. What he means is that he knows which of the other two kids Pain is.

Page 9.

Panel 2:

Jiraiya: What's up with you?

Boy: Lemme have some food!

Panel 3:

Jiraiya: What happened to your parents?

Panel 4:

Boy: Killed in the war. By Shinobi.

Panel 6:

Jiraiya: Here you go, some bread crackers.

Page 10.

Panel 1:

Boy: Nagato, Konan, it's safe to come out...

Boy: They don't seem like bad people.

Panel 4:

Jiraiya: Mmmm...

Panel 5:

Tsunade: We already gave you our food! What the heck are you following around us for?

Panel 6:

Boy: You're Konoha Shinobi, aren't you? We want you to teach us Ninjutsu!

Page 11.

Panel 1.

Konan: Thank you...

Konan: This is for you!

Panel 2:

Jiriaya: (Origami...out of the cracker's wrapping.)

Panel 3:

Orochimaru: Shall we kill them, these children...?

Panel 4:

Boy: Wha - !?

Orochimaru: I've seen quite a few war orphans, and can tell you it's quite the pityful existence they lead.

Orochimaru: Ending their lives right now would be for their own good.

Panel 5:

Jiraiya: That's enough, Orochimaru...

Jiraiya: You and Tsunade go on ahead... I'll stay behind and look after these kids for the time being.

Panel 6:

Tsunade: What was that!?

Page 12.

Panel 1:

Jiraiya: Until they're able to fend for themselves, anyhow. It's the least I can do - as atonement.*

*For participating in the war that took their parents' lives.

Panel 3:

Kids: "Itadakimasu*!"

*what you say right before eating.

Panel 4:

Yahiko: So, you grilled this fish with Katon no jutsu just like that, huh!

Panel 5:

Yahiko: Sensei! I got the hang of how to fish!

Page 13.

Panel 3:

Nagato: *sniff*...*sniff*...

Panel 4:

Yahiko: What's wrong, Nagato?

Panel 5:

Nagato: This...reminded me of my family...

Nagato: And so...

Panel 6:

Yahiko: Quit crying! You're a man, aren'tcha!

Yahiko: Man, that's why they say men from Amegakure are weaklings!

Page 14.

Panel 1:

Jiraiya: The three Great Countries surrounding Amegakure are not stable right now, true...

Jiraiya: But this war won't continue for long.

Panel 2:

Jiraiya: By the time you three are grown up...

Jiraiya: These countries will surely be getting along with each other, and peace...

Panel 3:

Yahiko: Easy for you to say!

Panel 4:

Yahiko: Our entire families were killed!

Yahiko: We can all get along after we've made them go through what we did! It's called an eye for an eye!

Panel 6:

Yahiko: But...it's obvious no one's gonna forgive anyone at that point.

Yahiko: That's why war's not ever going away!

Page 15.

Panel 1:

Yahiko: I hate rain...

Yahiko: This country's a weakling - all it ever does is cry!

Panel 2:

Yahiko: I'll change this country!

Yahiko: Keep everyone safe!

Panel 3:

Yahiko: So please, Jiraiya-Sensei...

Yahiko: Train us in the art of Ninjutsu!

Panel 6:

(We can all get along after we've made them go through what we did! That's why war's not ever going away! I'll keep everyone safe!)

Page 16.

Panel 1:

Konan: Jiraiya-Sensei, come quick!

Konan: Yahiko and Nagato - !

Panel 2:

Jiraiya: Show me the way, Konan!

Panel 4.

Konan: I brought Sensei!

Yahiko: Uh...

Panel 5:

Jiraiya: What happened?

Yahiko: This Shinobi...

Page 17.

Panel 1:

Yahiko: He comes up to us and... he demanded food or money...

Yahiko: And then Nagato... he...

Panel 2:

Jiraiya: (A chuunin from Iwagakure...)

Jiraiya: (how on earth did they...)

Panel 4:

Jiraiya: These eyes...! It's - !

Panel 5:

Jiraiya: This boy... he's - !?

Pain is born!

His past, the truth about him revealed! And then...

Next time: Reunion!

Thanks dude, I really like your trans and used it for my scan, here are some nitpicks :P
Quote:
Page 15.
Panel 1
Yahiko: All this country weakling
Maybe it would be better as "This whole country is weak".

Quote:
Page 17.

Panel 1:

Yahiko: He comes up to us and...
He "came" up to us.

Panel 4:
Jiraiya: This... this eye's - !
Those... those (plural) eyes are - !

Also, is the extra ad page important? cause no one has translated it. So i was wondering.

A typo on my part - thanks for pointing it out. :)

Quote by cheekymonk3y;552170:

He "came" up to us.

Actually, that was deliberate. There's nothing odd with the use of the present tense to describe events in the past, especially when one is "reliving" an event. I had him switch to the past tense inmediately afterwards (still referring to the same event) to express Yahiko's agitation.

At least, that was my intention, but anyone using my text for scanlation is free to edit it as he or she sees fit.

Quote by cheekymonk3y;552170:

Those... those (plural) eyes are - !

Ah... if you're going to use the plural form, then I suggest "these eyes," rather than "those eyes." :p

Now... when you pointed this out, I wondered why I'd used the singular to begin with... certainly, Nagato has two eyes, so why would Jiraiya refer to only one of them. I figured the fact that the plural doesn't exist in Japanese must have had an influence on my translation, but still...somehow the plural didn't seem quite right either.

The conclusion I reached is that Jiraiya most likely means to indicate the type of eye (singular) Nagato has, rather than how his eyes (plural) look right now.

That said, it's certainly somewhat forced, having Jiraiya use the singular in this instance... so I thought and thought, and came up with the revision you now see (or will see, shortly.)

Er, what page? Probably not important, I guess. I translated all the pages that came with the raw. If you're talking about the pages in JUMP where it says what to expect next week from each manga, uh, those are "false advertising" if ever there was such a thing. They've been advertising the fight between Jiraiya and Pain for over a month now.

The guy who does it obviously knows about as much as we do about what's going to happen next week. :p
