just one question...when the raw ist out...are you gonna do a new translation, or is this version good enough to make it the final translation of yours?

so the point is, how sure are you about this translations correctness and completeness?

It's correct and complete, save for the odd typo or two I always miss.

The text is the real deal, and I looked at the bubble distribution in the chinese raw. I don't know chinese, but since Japanese is written in chinese charactes, I can more or less tell which text corresponds to which bubble on the text alone.

If that weren't enough to go on, each bubble normally contains a single sentence. So with those two elements, assembling it is easy.

Earlier than the complete Japanese raw, in fact, but not earlier than the Japanese script, a couple of pages of the Japanese Raw, and Jojohot's chinese scan, all of which I used to compile this scanlation friendly "early" trans for your reading pleasure.

In attention to those who don't want to be spoiled before the raw, I have enclosed the whole text in spoiler tags.

Thanks!

Actually, my translations are usually the most accurate here, in terms of what is actually being said (let's call it factual accuracy). Nihongaeri's are more so (or just as accurate, assuming I don't make any mistakes), but I make it a point to correct my text based on his (or any other valid) observations.

As for stylistic accuracy (how close you're duplicating the "feel" of the original lines), that's just too subjective a question to make comparisons.

I noticed that your translation changed from "revered" to "venerated" to "illustrious" now. Hisshouburaiken translated it as "most powerful". Could you give some clarification on the line?

Yes: it does not say most powerful. 崇高, the term used, means ... well, "of a dignified nature, worthy of admiration." So revered, venerable and illustrious were my attempts to get it just right. Illustrious, defined as "brilliantly outstanding because of dignity," seemed best to me, in the end.

What happens is that some people are interpreting that the root of its illustriousness is its strength (which may or may not be the case). Which is "stronger," "byakugan" or "sharingan"? They're different, so deciding which is stronger is like apples to oranges.

Perfect fodder for fanboy arguments. -_-

huoh, thanks alot...
that last statement, i really agree...
if only people more eager to read what translators have to say, rather than what theorists want to say.... that could save us tons of pointless things....

Thanks!

Actually, my translations are usually the most accurate here, in terms of what is actually being said (let's call it factual accuracy). Nihongaeri's are more so (or just as accurate, assuming I don't make any mistakes), but I make it a point to correct my text based on his (or any other valid) observations.

Sweet, that clarifies it well. I've already seen tonnes of people assuming that Rinnegan > all other Doujutsu, including me =[
