[Box] – The suggestion box instigated by the 98th president of Hakoniwa School, Medaka Kurokami
- Had come to be known as the ‘Medaka Box’ among the students
- And quickly gained a good reputation

- Became the main job of the General affairs council member, ie. me…

Hitoyoshi – We’ve got three requests in the box today
- Looks like every one has some concern or other…
- However what can I say about this one…
- Looks somewhat odd compared to the requests we normally get…

Hitoyoshi- And as you can see we have three submission today…
- A request from the Basketball club after a new club room
- A request for a new lunch menu
- And
- A request to search for
- A lost puppy

Medaka - A lost puppy?

Hitoyoshi - Apparently the puppy and it’s owner got separated somewhere on the school grounds at some point last winter break
- It hasn’t been seen since then
- And the owner wants us to find it

Medaka – Right, I’ll handle the Basketball club and menu request
- and I’ll leave the lost puppy to you

Hitoyoshi – Hm? That’s fine by me
- But is it alright to do this alone

Medaka – Don’t make me say it…
- You…
- Understand me right?

Medaka – You know I’ve
- never been good with animals

Shiranui- Heeeh, I’m surprised!
- To think that that invincible super princess actually has a weak spot!

Hitoyoshi – Well..
- People say she’s like some sort of super being and all
- But she had her problems in the past

Hitoyoshi – Back in the first year of primary school the class took it in turns to look after the class pet
- When it was Medaka’s turn there was an incident
- And you could say it was somewhat traumatic

Shiranui – Heeeh…
- But if that’s true
- Then won’t that throw doubt on her presidency!?

Hitoyoshi – Think about it!
- If there are ever any problems then that's where I come in!
- Right! Shiranui! If you know where the puppy is then show the way!
- You said you had an idea right!!

Shiranui – Er.. Yeah
- Sure why not - I don't like the enthusiastic you…
- When I say I’ve got an idea
- I mean I heard someone saying something about a dog living on campus somewhere
- Eeerm…
- Should be somewhere round here…

- This is the dog right? It matches the drawing and everything right?

Hitoyoshi – That can’t be it Shiranui…
- That is NOT a cute poor little puppy which got separated from its owner…
- You know what that is
- That is something some irresponsible millionaire bought and released into the city
- Some beast protected by the Washington Pact* or something!!
(*Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora)

Shiranui – What are you ranting about? That’s a Borzoi, it’s a well respected species.
- Also known as the ‘Russian Wolfhound’

Hitoyoshi – See! I knew it! It's a wolf!!
- This is a joke right? Do I really have to catch that thing now? Really!?
- Damnit… I can’t believe this
- Shiranui, you’re going to help out right?

Shiranui – What!?
- Me!?
- No way!?
- Why would it!?
- I just wanted to hang back and watch my friend get mauled from a safe distance!!

Hitoyoshi – What the…
- You aren’t normal!

Shiranui – I’m gonna stand here and snap some shots of you being brave!

Hitoyoshi – You need some divine punishment

- He’s saying ‘hey there, why don’t you come over and play’

Hitoyoshi – Some how I don’t think so
- I heard ‘if you dare interrupt my sleep again I’m going to rip you to shreds, lowly human’

- You gonna slink off home?
- Shame to waste this opportunity to show your good side off to Medaka though…

Hitoyoshi – Gu…

Medaka – I’m no good
- When it comes to animals

Hitoyoshi – Aaargh! I know!
- All I have to do is get it over with, right!?

Shiranui – Ah, wait!!
- If you’re really going to do it then take these!

Hitoyoshi – What’s this? Sausage?
- Oh! I get it!
- Lure him in with bait!?

Shiranui – Noo! That’s not what I meant!
- What you do is put these in your jacket
- Then you can say ‘Aaaargh!! My internal organs!! My internal organs… look similar to these sausages’
- You should do that joke, it’ll be great

Hitoyoshi – But that joke
- after I do it, within seconds it really would eat my internal organs
- Damnit

- ‘Aaaargh!! My internal organs!! My internal organs!!… look similar to these sausages’

Hitoyoshi – Erm…
- And that’s how it all happened
- I, together with Shiranui was able to locate the target but failed in its apprehension
- After the attempt we let the target get away

Medaka – I see
- What can I say, other than
- Seeing you get on so well with that Shiranui girl is a little unsettling
- So in other words, over the half year period of the puppy’s disappearance
- The dog grew up and in fact ceased to be a puppy?
- Puppies do grow fast

Hitoyoshi – Aaah… I guess that’s what happened
- It’s not so much a case of it becoming an adult
- It’s more like the dog turned into a wild beast or something

Hitoyoshi – I met up with the owner just as a matter of procedure
- She seemed like a easy going sort of girl - for a senpai* that is
- It was pretty damned hard to tell her just what the situation was
(Senpai = upperclassman)

[Name box] – 3rd year 2nd class Akizuki senpai
- Interests : Making confectionary items
- Aspirations : To find a good husband
- Greeting of choice : How do you do?

Medaka – Borzoi means ‘agile and alertness’ in Russian
- They were originally used by people to hunt wolves
- On the face of it these dogs are more beastly than the game they hunt

Hitoyoshi – Huh! That’s why I couldn't do anything against it! – he almost got his teeth into my internal organs too
- But I guess that's no real reason to give up on the case
- The insurance has to come through after all…
(I presume Hitoyoshi is referring to himself being the insurance by covering the jobs that Medaka doesn’t do)

Medaka – Insurance?

Hitoyoshi – Don’t worry yourself about it, Medaka chan
- It’s not like I’m gonna give up just because I didn’t succeed once
- Just leave it up to me and Shiranui, we’ll get it done

Medaka – You and Shiranui…?

Hitoyoshi – Yeah
- Although I’m sure she won’t be all that pleased about helping
- But I am sure that if I ask she’ll tag along
- I don’t think you really know her all that well
- But that girl can really come through in a pinch
- I’m on the case so just keep focused on the suggestions you took on

Medaka – Zenkichi, wait
- That case
- I’ll handle it!

Hitoyoshi – That’s fine but…
- Are you sure?
- We’re going up against an animal

Medaka – Not to worry
- That and I’ve already managed to clear up the requests I was working on

- I cannot bear the idea of you begging someone for help because of my short-comings!!

Medaka – It’s me
- Of course!

Hitoyoshi – I was kinda hoping it wasn’t you…

Shiranui – It might be a bit of a stupid question but
- what’s the costume meant to be?

Medaka – Hm?
- Can’t you tell
- [out of box] I appropriated it from the dramatic club

Hitoyoshi – You can tell by looking, but, I understand why you’d want to ask

Medaka – The tactic is to get the target to view me as one of it’s own
- When dealing with animals it’s important to be the one who makes the first move!

Shiranui – Hitoyoshi, I don’t suppose…

Hitoyoshi – You noticed?
- Yeah
- She’s so smart she passed back into stupid

Medaka – Right then
- that’s the target I presume

- It looks like a cute little pup to me!

Hitoyoshi – Really, you don’t have to pretend
- Don’t worry about it, I’ll take responsibility and solve the case
- Together with Shiranui!

Hitoyoshi – What’s with that face?

Medaka – Hrmp!
- You two should just hang back and watch
- I’m going to show you that I’m not a girl who’ll let herself be trapped by her past!

Shiranui – She’s just jealous right?
- Because we’re getting along so well

Hitoyoshi – Eh?
- I wasn’t even particularly sure if we were friends or not
- She’s way off the mark

Shiranui – Ahyahya!
- It looks as though the little princess is more human than I thought
- She’s got a stupid side, she gets jealous
- Even having a problem with animals

Hitoyoshi – Huh?
- Shiranui, I think you’ve got the wrong end of the stick

Shiranui – Eh?

Hitoyoshi – Medaka chan doesn’t dislike animals or anything
- Rather
- She REALLY loves animals

- Medaka doesn’t dislike animals at all
- It’s animals
- Who can’t stand Medaka

[Box] – Back in 1st year of primary school Medaka Kurokami was commissioned with looking after the class pet
- However
- When she went to get the rabbit from it’s hutch the rabbit refused to come out of it’s den
- When she went to give food to the carp in the pond, the moment she approached all the fish dived down and refused to come back up

[Box] – People still talk about the class trip to the zoo
- Not one animal, not even the biggest, scariest of beasts would show itself in the presence of Medaka
- Animals know nothing about personalities
- All they know is to cower in the presence of overwhelming power
- On the other hand
- The reason everyone accepted the current Medaka as school president
- Has nothing to do with her super human parameters or her high status
- Rather you could say it was thanks to her personality

[Box] – Putting that to one side
- Not everything Shiranui said was completely off the mark

Hitoyoshi - Erm…
- And that’s the long and short of it!
- We successfully returned our friend the Borzoi to his owner
- She said he seems far more chilled out than he was as a puppy
- Either way, one suggestion down

Medaka – I…
- I couldn’t even get that cute little doggy to like me
- There’s no helping it, I fail as a human…

Hitoyoshi – Well, who knows…
- Although you are definitely human
- [out of box] you certainly don’t look like a dog

[Box] – Loving animals, getting depressed
- Medaka is more human than anyone thought
