Woman: Take your time to make a decision.
Rei: Is this a monjya store?
Hinata: HAWAWAAAAAhhh
I'm so lost----
Akari: Which should I go with??
Menus: Monjya Tarou

Now it's been a few days since I went back to my house.

always this loud?
Was the clock
always this noisy?
.........Ah,
uh-oh.

Bars: Walk
Don't think, just walk.
if you stop, you
Rei: This is bad.
I know this feeling.
But
I can't make eye contact.
I know what this feeling signifies,
but I must not think of the name.
If I say that name out loud
an attack will come
that tears away at my insides.

Akari: Ah! Uh-oh!
We're out of milk!
SFX: PICHOPICHO
Hinata: Oh maaan...
Why didn't we buy more----?
Whadda we do~~~~?
It's gonna be so freezing cold outside~~
Rei: I'll go buy some!!
Hinata: No. You'll catch another cold!!
SFX: NUKU NUKU HOKA HOKA... (spreading warmth)
Hinata: Kotatsu are such scary things.
You go in for just a little while, and then you can't get back out.
When you go in, you get so super warm,
but when you get out it's three times as cold----!
Bars: ---I know how this sounds, but you really can't just not go into one.
Right?
I mean,
it's warm.
And pleasant.

Page 50:
Rei: ---That's it.
That house is sorta
like a kotatsu...
When you go inside
it's so warm it feels like you'll melt,
and it's so cozy,
but when you leave
you'll be reminded that
your everyday life that felt fine before
is freezing cold.

Page 51:
Bars: If I think about it deeply, it's so frightening that my body gets cold----- but
if I just stop thinking and come to a halt, I'll be checkmated.
If by number of victories decreases, eventually
I'll no longer have a place I belong.
Rei: What do I do?
I don't know, but I've gotta think.
Calm down.
Right. First, assess the situation.
I have three more rank-deciding matches this season. Right now, my record is 4 wins and 3 losses.
I lost my chance to rise in rank,
but I need to get back into form and connect to next year...
----And title matches,
the one thing I'm progressing onto
is the fast approaching "Challenger Deciding Tournament for the Shishi Ou Championship".
For now, I've gotta concentrate on that!!
TL Note: Shishi Ou = Lion King

Page 52:
Bars: And that's the one thing I can never ever let happen!!!
Rei: The Shishi Ou Championship.
----That's the tournament sponsored by Japan's biggest newspaper.
It's on par with the Meijin Championship. One of the two big titles.
Sign: Shogi Hall
Rei: The tournament is organized by splitting up the players into one of six groups based on their previous year's results.
And the top ranking members of each class can participate in the "Main Event League".
Chart: Title Holder
Group 1 - 5 People out of 16
Group 2 - 2 People out of 16
Group 3 - 1 Person out of 16
Group 4 - 1 Person out of 31
Group 5 - 1 Person out of 30
Group 6 - 1 Person out of 52
Rei: Because of the huge sponsors it gets, it has a much larger scale compared to other shogi tournaments and the degree of attention society gives it is higher.
People: Good morning.
Good morning.
Rei: But on top of those, the reason the shogi players really get heated up is...
Smith: One win gets ya 600 thousaaand!
KYAAH
Two gets ya 1.2 milliooon!
Rei: the large amounts of prize money.
SFX: GASHIHHH DOKIIIN (Ba-dump)

Page 53:
Smith: I'm so hyped for this!
The Shishi Ou Championship! [Star]
Handwritten: It's like the Dunlop Phoenix Open in Golf!! The US Open in Tennis!!!
Smith: C'mon, let's go get it!
Kiriyama!!
Rei: R-Right.
Get what?
SFX: PATA PATA (flapping)
Smith: You idiot,
ain't it obvious?
Status,
prestige,
moneyyy
everything!
Bars: By opponent was Tsujii Takeshi 9-dan.
He was a shogi player with great attack power... (In more ways than one...)
Tsujii: Speaking of which,
"reasoned price" and "S.T. Science" are
kinda similar, aren't they?
Handwritten: *Low voice
Tsujii: Or maybe not?
TL Note: This is a slight alteration of the Japanese company S.T. Chemistry. These two phrases sound a little more similar in Japanese. "Tekisei kakaku" and "Esutee kagaku".
SFX: Boso... Boso... (whispering)
Tsujii: Ah... yes.
Ah, yes...
Kumiko
is a real beauty.

Narration: Frigid

Page 54:
Bars: ---But what was most impressive was that even with this massive amount of coldness to him, he had such
strength!!!
Rei: S...... STROOOOONG
Just what I should expect from a 9-dan A-class with an 8 year reign!!
Tsujii (Handwritten): Ooh, the pieces are getting combed together.........
Combed... Comme des Gar苡ns' sales are combed...
Just kidding...
Huhuhuhuhu
SFX: KUKUKUKUKUKU (chuckling)
TL Note: Comme des Gar苡ns is a Japanese fashion label.
Rei: ----But, for some reason.......
I seriously don't wanna lose to him!!!
Handwritten: I don't wanna loooose!!!
WAAAAA
What's with this feeling I'm getting?!!!

Cats: Rook

Yokomizo: The only move I've got is to take the knight, right?
Even if I do sacrifice the bishop, I'm getting both a knight and a silver in exchange. ---And on top of that, my rook becomes a dragon!!

Yokomizo: Ooookay!!!

TL Note: In Japanese, they don't indicate captures or drops in notation. Though in the international notation they usually do so, replacing the - with an x or an * for captures and drops respectively. Due to the fact that it can be difficult or impossible to know for certain if a move is one of these based on the small amount context given for each game with only the Japanese notation, we're just going to indicate - for all moves regardless of capturing or drops, thus having no more or no less information than what is in the Japanese notation.
