As I thought, it's best to eat watermelons in the porch!
But Tsukiyama lives in an apartment house, so he has to eat watermelons indoors. Not to mention the fact that cleaning up is a hassle, so he eats them over the sink.
Aa-ah, having a porch would be great!
It would be great if apartment houses could have porches too!

The story is finally beginning to move in this volume. However, this is still the prologue.
Things are really going to stir up later on, so please anticipate it! [K: Or wait?]
At any rate, I wonder if a 'knight in the area' will appear in Japan soon.
...I mean, in real life.

Igano Hiroaki

Summary
Aizawa Suguru is the number 10 in Japan's U-15 team and the captain of the middle school football club in Kamakura Secondary School. Having a brother that has been hailed as a genius, Suguru's younger brother Kakeru has been weak on his left side ever since injuring someone. Because of this, he gained the nickname "Mister No Goal", and has chosen the path of manager. But suddenly, he was chosen to play in the practice game that would decide the starting players! Although he was initially excited at his role as the lone forward, or 'one top', and his responsibility at converting his brother's passes to goals, Kakeru cannot overcome his weakness and is eventually subbed out. However, the two brothers' childhood friend Nana realises that Kakeru, who extracted Suguru's strongest passes from him and managed to receive them, actually has the ability to be a forward.

#4 Confidence

\

\

Kakeru: ...Seven

------

(page06)

Kouta: Seven...

\

Kouta: She isn't just Seven, Kakeru! Just what is that woman? She's definitely not normal, man!
She knows more about football than me! [K: emphasise me XD]

Kakeru: Ugh- what are you doing?
It's not like you know a lot about football, Kouta!

sfx: squish twist crack

\

Yuusuke: Hmph... indeed! It's a wonder you got into the football club in the first place!
Kouta: Wha!?
sfx Kouta: Hey! [K: Not accurate actually, I think it's a GAN which also means WHAT or WTF]
Kakeru: My neck, my neck...

\

Kouta: You're a manager, you don't have the right to say anything!
sfx Kouta: grind grind
sfx Kakeru?: Aaah-
Kakeru: Aaaaaah~~~~~ That was Yuusuke just now! Stop it, I surrender!

\

Suguru: What are you two doing?
Kouta: Ah... Captain!
sfx guy's pants: twitch
sfx Kakeru's feet: thump
sfx Kouta's hands: die~~~~

\

Suguru: Saeki, Nakatsuka, come over for a meeting.
sfx: Hmph. [K: This means he is not impressed!! Not pleased.]
Suguru: Manager, organise the data from that practice game and bring it over.
Yuusuke/Kouta: Ye.. yes!

sfx Kakeru: Oooh-

------

(page07)

Nana: Captain.

\

\

\

\

Suguru: ......
And that's why you're saying, "Let Kakeru play", right?

Nana: Yes... Suguru-san, you know what I'm talking about too, right?

------

(page08)

Nana: It's impossible for us to have a shot in the Nationals with just Ishikawa-san and Nishijima-kun in a two-top.
Even with you, Suguru-san, if we rely only on those two forwards...

Suguru: No, I cannot play Kakeru.

\

Nana: Why?
Nana: Didn't he catch your earnest pass and shoot it in the end?

\

Nana: When he was running for the pass, he got into the defender's blind spot and got past him with fakes.
He has all the basics that a scorer needs down perfectly.

Nana: Even when facing centerback Kunimatsu-san's harsh marking, he still wasn't discouraged.
His eyes kept saying, "Pass to me!"

\

\

Nana: And another thing that surprised me
Nana: was his stamina.

------

(page09)

Nana: Kakeru's been a manager through all of 8th grade, right?
Nana: But he never slowed down even after running for so long.

\

Nana: Because of this, Kunimatsu's leg cramped after marking him.
Nana: And that's why the sub Nishijima-kun was able to get a point, right?
sfx: thump

\

Kakeru: Damn it... "Organise the data from the practice game", I played too, so how can I do that...?
Kakeru: I'll just have to ask Seven.
[small text] I think she was taking notes...

\

Kakeru: Sev...

\

Kakeru: Su... Suguru...
sfx: slip

------

(page10)

Nana: Although Kakeru did shoot the ball you passed to him wide
Nana: No one other than Kakeru would have had any chance with that pass of yours, right?

\

Suguru: And that is why.
Nana: Eh?

\

\

Suguru: In the most crucial moment of the game the most important thing is to connect every action smoothly and not let the chance slip away.
Suguru: If a shot right in front of the goal misses, the other teammates will feel as if the team will never score no matter what they do.

\

Nana: You mean, morale will fall?
Suguru: Exactly.

------

(page11)

Suguru: For example, if it wasn't Kakeru who was receiving my pass, the chance of connecting the actions and scoring would be zero.

\

Suguru: No, probably even lower.
That's football for you. [K: emphasise even lower! And I don't get Suguru either... that is, if you don't get it XD]

\

\

Suguru: What Kakeru fatally lacks,
Suguru: isn't skill, or stamina.

\

sfx: jab

------

(page11)

Suguru: It's his confidence.
Suguru: It's the same with the root of his weakness with his left leg. [K: Purposely ambiguous because I don't understand the meaning.. <_<]

\

Nana: Suguru-san.

\

\

------

(page12)

\

\

Nana: Kakeru!?
[thinking] Did he hear us?

\

Kakeru sfx: turn
Nana: Wait... listen to me!

\

Nana: Suguru-san expects a lot from you! So...
Kakeru: It's like what he says.
sfx: rattle

\

Kakeru: "Unconfident people aren't suited to play football", right?
Kakeru: If that embarrassment hadn't happened... then, probably...

\

sfx: Dammit-!
sfx: slam

------

(page14)

\

Kakeru: Ah...

\

Girls: Eeeeeeeek! It's not just Kouta, Kakeru's like this too!
Girls: Kill him!
sign: Girls changing within
Death awaits those who enter

\

Kakeru: No... you're wrong... it really is a misunderstanding!
[small text] I wanted to change too and go home...
Girls: Shut it!
Kakeru: Aaaaah! Help me, Seven...

------

(page15)

Kakeru: Huh~... I'm wiped...
sfx: wobble wobble

\

\

Kakeru: Suguru!?

\

\

Kakeru: Who's that pretty lady...?

------

(page16)

Kakeru: Wha!?
sfx: grab

\

Kakeru: Su..... Su-su-su-su-su-suguru, him...

\

Kakeru: in an illicit... se... rela..!? [K: a short form for the arrow text that sounds okay XD In this case I chose to make Kakeru mentally tongue tied. That's probably pushing it.]
arrow: An illicit sexual relationship.

MA: What's wrong, Kakeru?
[small text] That's a fish bone...
Mito: Dumped by Nana-chan?
sfx Suguru: munch munch

\

Kakeru: ...just who was that...? His girlfriend...? But she seems too old for him...
[small text] Don't tell me it's adultery...?

sfx: Mmmmmm.

Mito: Hey.. those are my panties!
[small text] Where did you get those!?

------

(page17)

\

\

\

sfx: rustle
Kakeru: Ah! You took a while!
I thought that you might to coming tonight, too.

\

Kakeru: Even though I don't know who you are,
Kakeru: but tonight, you have to help me practice, okay?

------

(page18)

Kakeru: ?.... [K: Or alien, whatever]
Kakeru: Oh, this? Don't worry about it.

\

Kakeru: I really wanted to play wearing this tonight.
Kakeru: I never got a number in eighth grade, so I always ran around wearing this.

\

Kakeru: For me, this numberless uniform..
Kakeru: It represents my middle high football career.

\

Kakeru: C'mon
Let's begin!
sfx: thump

\

Kakeru: Let's go-!!

------

(page19)

Kakeru: I'm going to enjoy this as much as I can!!

\

Kakeru: As much as I can...

------

(page20)

Kakeru: Wha... a "Roulette" again!?

\

Kakeru: It hits the swing!

\

\

Kakeru: I won't lose!

------

(page21)

sfx: wheeeet

\

\

Kakeru: Hehe!

\

Kakeru: That was half an hour... the halves in middle school football games are half an hour long.
Kakeru: I'm going to take this chance to rest, then play the full 30 minutes of the second half.

\

Kakeru: I seem like an idiot, huh? Just a manager, but still practising like this every day... I really don't know when to quit!

\

Alien: He uses up an equivalent of a full football game of energy every day when he practises?

\

Alien: So that's why he could receive such a strong pass.
Kakeru: Want a drink?
sfx: wipe

------

(page22)

Kakeru: I don't know who you are, but you seem to know about my weak left side.

\

Kakeru: But could you let me explain myself? In primary school, I was in a practice game with my team.
I used my left leg to shoot, and ended up causing a huge injury in a teammate. We were competing for a spot in the starting lineup.

\

Kakeru: Ever since then, every time I shoot with my left leg I get scared... well, I guess it's still just an excuse.

\

Kakeru: Okay! I'm a little early with this, but half time is over!
Kakeru: Let's start the second half.

\

sfx: pat
Kakeru: Hm?

\

sfx: poke

------

(page23)

\

\

Kakeru: Ah... hey, wait!

\

Kakeru: Argh!
sfx: whump

\

Kakeru: Hey! Wait up!

------

(page24)

Suguru: It's his confidence.
Suguru: Blah blah blah blah... (take from that earlier page)

\

\

\

Mito: Welcome home, Sugu-nii!
Suguru: Mm.
TV: Tonight I would like to introduce someone who performed extremely well in the U-15 Japan v South America Exchange Cup, scoring 1 goal and 1 assist,

\

TV: the Brazilian U-15 team playmaker, who at the young age of 15 is being hailed as Brazil's treasure-

------

(page25)

TV: Leonardo Silva, as our guest in tonight's program! [K: Or Leonard...? Well, whatever.]

\

Leonardo: Mmm-
Presenter: E.. excuse me... Mr. Leonardo Silva?!

\

Presenter: No!!
sfx: slap
Suguru: Idiot.

\

Presenter: So, on to our topic. Mr. Silva, how do you find Aizawa Suguru?
sfx Leonardo: Ow... [K: Basically, his wound is smarting.]
guy with glasses: translator

\

Leonardo: I think that many strong European clubs will be making lots of offers to him in the near future.
Leonardo: When that time comes, I hope that he chooses a team that is different from mine.

------

(page26)

TV: No matter what team he joins, like me, he'll probably be the king of his team.
Mito: Hey, I can't see the TV, Sugu-nii~! [K: lol Suguru is such an asshole with the TV]
TV: But on the pitch, there can only be one king.

\

Presenter: I see. What about Japan, in the near future?

\

Leonardo: Japan's midfield has many talents like Suguru.
Leonardo: Unfortunately, though, they lack a good decision-making forward.

\

Leonardo: Japan needs a forward who can make the right decisions in the penalty area.
Leonardo: Someone who can courageously respond to his king's demands.

------

(page27)

TV: A k...
sfx: beep
sfx left: Zzzzzzt

\

Mito: Hey... what are you doing, Sugu-nii, I'm a fan of his!

\

sfx: click

Suguru: It's late. Did you go to the convenience store again?

\

sfx: stalk

\

Suguru: Hey, Kakeru, what are you doing?
sfx: twitch

\

\

------

(page28)

Kakeru: Stop playing dumb!
sfx: grab
Kakeru: Why do you have to keep beating around the bush!?

\

Kakeru: You have something to say to me, don't you?
sfx: slam

\

sfx: [K: Um, the sfx means roar <_<]
Kakeru: Then just say it clearly, okay?!

\

Kakeru: huh huh
huh huh

------

(page29)

\

sfx: clench

\

sfx: dash

------

(page30)

Suguru: Kakeru...

\

\

Kakeru: Damn it...
thoughts: I would never be able to forget what happened tonight.

\

thoughts: Lots of thoughts flew around my head as I silently hit my brother's face-

\

thoughts: The time drew near.
thoughts: I would receive my brother's "last pass",

------

(page31)

thoughts: in this moment of fate...

------

(page32)

Lol that packet is potato chips btw.
