Sは自分の一番の理解者で、不倶戴天の敵で、親友で、半身で、相容れぬ者でありました。
S was the understood me the best, my irreconcilable enemy, close friend, half a man, and someone I couldn’t stand to be in the same room with.

Sはその恐るべき聡明さによりすべてをみぬいていました。
S had the wisdom to see through everything.

世の人を完全にあざむきせしめている自分の道化はSにだけは通用しませんでした。
My clowning, which had deceived and cheated people, could not fool S.

それゆえに自分はSを恐れたのです
Because of that, I feared S.

恐れるがゆえにSから逃れられなかったのでした
Even though I was afraid of him, I couldn’t run away.

教室でも部活動でも自分はSとともにありました。
Whether it was in the classroom or at club activities, I was always with S.

天から使わされた審判であるがごとき、Sの視線を感じ、恐怖と羞恥に足が震え汗が吹き出す思いでした。
Like I’m with a referee from heaven, when I felt S’s stares, fear and shyness made my legs tremble and sweat start gushing out.
