This is my first actual 'official' attempt at translating. I'll be posting more Negima as Weekly Shounen Magazine prints them if the feedback is nice, so :D:D

Yue: there were beautiful places not of this world, a “Different World” where the Fae and the Dead lived

The Nation of Magic (I don’t know the accepted translations for some terminology; I’ve only read the JPN version up to now. I’ll look these up ASAP.) is right in front of our eyes! So, shall we do the necessary studying….?

Period 186: Welcome to Anotherworld!

Yue: Unlike paradises literally in another world like ‘Heaven’ and *‘Gokuraku-Joudo’, what should be noted in Celtic myth is,
Yue: that even on ‘that side’, the dead inhabit their bodies in the same way that they did while living on ‘this side’
Yue: and that they held that “Different World” as a place that the living could go back and forth with their own bodies;
Yue: A literal Another World.


Yue: This is close to the image as “a paradise or utopia physically connected to this world”, seen in China’s *Tougenkyou, or the *Ryuuguujou from the story Urashima-Tarou
Yue(small text): Legends of paradises also include the Ryukyu’s Nirai Kanai, Greece’s Arcadia, Agarta, Jipang, El Dorado, the Celts’ Avalon, Tirnarogue, and many others that are very interesting, but I’ll leave them alone for now.

Yue: So… the place we’re heading to now, “Mundus Magicus”, is the closest to this definition of a Different World, and its roots…

*Menhir=erected stones like in Stone Henge
*Fae=plural for large numbers of faeries
*Gokuraku-Joudo=One of the Japanese notions of heaven
*Tougenkyou=Japanese pronunciation of a form of Chinese paradise
*Ryuuguujou=a fabled under-sea castle in the story Urashima-tarou
*Mundus Magicus=latin for ‘World’ and ‘Magical’

Negi(thoughts): The Gate….

Negi(T): The world that Dad fought in is just across the other side of this door.

Konoka: But the magic world, right? I wonder what it’s like there?

Desk woman: It’s a powerful seal, and you won’t be able to unlock it until you exit the Gateport, so please be careful.

Negi: Everything’s inside this small box!
Desk woman: In Megalome-cenbria (please insert what the appropriate translation for the magical capital is; if there isn’t one, then this should suffise.), you will need a license to carry weapons, so please do not forget to fill in the appropriate paperswork.

Desk woman: Um… I know this is bothersome, but Mr. Springfield… would you shake my hand?
Negi: Huh? (lit. Eh?)

Desk woman: It’s an honor. Your father was my idol.

Negi: Mr. Guard, how many guards are there here?
Guard: What? What are you talking about, son?
Negi: Bring in as may as you can! This is an emergency!
Guard: Bu… now listen here…
Negi: FAST!

Negi: Master Ku, Asuna-san, come here and protect Makie-san and the others!
Unnamed: Wha, what’s going on?
Kamo: BRO!
Makie: Negi-kun, what’s going on~
Guard: H…Hey you, magic isn’t allowed here!
Kaede-san, McGuiness-san, go to Immigrations; Kotaro-kun go to the terrace with Nodoka san and the others!
