Frame 5, Tsunade:
…フン…
... Humph...

Frame 6, Danzou:
三代目に染み付いたアナタのおじい様の教えのようにね。
Just like how the teachings of your venerable grandfather rubbed off on the Sandaime, of course.

Page 16

Frame 3, Danzou:
とりあえず安心はしました。これでゆっくり飯も食える…では…
Anyhow, I'm pleased for the time being. Now I'll be able to eat my meals without having to worry about other matters... Good day...

Page 17

Frame 1, Sakura:
誰なんです?…アレ?
Who exactly... Was *that*?

Frame 3, Tsunade:
昔、三代目火影の椅子を巡って亡き猿飛先生と争った人物だ。
He is a person who, in the past, competed over the chair of Sandaime Hokage with my now deceased teacher, Sarutobi-sensei.

Frame 4, Tsundae:
三代目とは違い、ガチガチな合理的思考に基づく強硬・武闘派路線の主導者でサイの上司だ。
Unlike the Sandaime, he is a cold and calculating leader, a militaristic hard-liner. He is also Sai's superior.

Frame 5, Tsunade:
穏健派だった三代目の教え子で初代火影の孫の私が嫌いなのさ。
Since I'm a student of the moderate Sandaime and granddaughter of the Shodai Hokage, he simply hates me.
("shodai" = "first")

Frame 7, Tsunade:
そろそろ時間だろ…さくら。
It's about time... Sakura.

Frame 7, Sakura:
ハイ…行ってきます。
Right... I'll be going then.

Page 19

Frame 2, Yamato:
よし!では…カカシ班、これより出発する!

Thank you Nihon-san!!! Did you know that you totally help me with Japanese? I skip the kanji I don't know, but I can usually figure it out. Having it all lined up really helps. Thanks again!

Thanks again!Aside from trying to keep myself accountable for the accuracy of my translations, that's the other reason why I add the Japanese. I always figured there'd be some people out there studying Japanese, so having the translation and original side-by-side can certainly help with that. Glad to see there at least one person out there who appreciates being able to see the Japanese script.

Ugh, nice translation and all but PLEASE translate "Ne" as "Root", reading it as "Ne" is just stupid, the literal translation sounds a lot better than keeping it Japanese just due to Otaku-ness.I don't suppose I could convince you to just imagine that I have "roots" written instead every time you see "ne"?

For me personally, i like it as it is - "ne". JamesM you could always read a scanlation which doesnt use "ne" and use "root" instead. :D

"ugh"? ...JamesM, Nihongaeri just left it as "ne" to keep it authentic jap... be happy for his 3h+ of work

"zanpauto" sounds better than "soul cutter"
"chakra" wouldn't be replaced by "energy"..

see what i mean? some terms are better left as is... be happy you dont see "根"...

"ugh"? ...JamesM, Nihongaeri just left it as "ne" to keep it authentic jap... be happy for his 3h+ of workWhile I'm certainly really happy that people would be willing to stand up in my defense, I will have to admit that the "root" vs. "ne" issue is one that I had a bit of internal conflict on. On the one end you have something like "Akatsuki", where I don't think there's anyone out there who wants to see it translated as "Dawn". Then on the other end of the spectrum you have something like "Hi No Kuni", where I think there's more or less unanimous consensus that "Country of Fire" just plain works/sounds better. For "Ne", it's a borderline one for me. Part of me wants to just translate it, the other part want to maintain a literal transcription. In the end I figured that, as I already said, if someone really doesn't like the literal transcription, it's not really all that hard to imagine that it says "roots" instead.

They translated "Akatsuki" as "Alba" (="Dawn") in the Italian pubblication. -__-'

A little question: you wrote "sempai", but I thought the correct way to write it was "senpai"...

P.S. I like "Root" more than "Ne", just because the latter is a too short word to sound like a name in English (and in Italian as well).

A little question: you wrote "sempai", but I thought the correct way to write it was "senpai"...In the case of "senpai" versus "sempai", the "n" and the "m" both represent the same phoneme. It's not that one is more correct than the other as a romanization, it's just that "m" is (better) representation of it's actually pronounced, where as use of "n" in this case only represents the phoneme. In Japanese, when a nasal sound occurs before a "b", "p" or "m", it is pronounced as an "m". This is actually true of English as well. Even with the English word "input", the word (typically) ends up getting pronounced as "imput" instead in everyday speech.

Ooooo..now i know why it's "m" and not "n". I never knew the real reason behind this usage of phoneme until i read this post. Thanks.

At the end you used "Ne" it seems. Well, I've already got used to it anyway. ^^

So "senpai" and "sempai" it the same? But I'll keep writing "senpai", I like it more for some reasons. °__°
