A story of courage. A story of friendship. A story of goddamn fucking advertisements.

Title:
Number 318: The Training Progresses

Page 3

Frame 1, Kakashi:
Alright! This'll be a good time for you to reassimilate your kage-bunshin's experiences... Just let them disappear while you reflect on the training

Frame 3, Naruto(s):
Got it!

Page 4

Frame 1, Yamato's Hand:

"za"
(means "to sit", "seat", "position of status", etc...)

Frame 2, Yamato:
Phew...

Page 5

Frame 1, Naruto:
I can do it... Just a little further...

Frame 4, Kakashi:
And this would be the major drawback... Along with all the experience, he also ends up reassimilating all the mental stress his copies incurred as well

Page 6

Frame 1, Tobi:
OH YEAH!!

Frame 2, Tobi:
Deidara-san! Did you see my Jutsu!? This thing was nothing for me!

Frame 3, Tobi:
“暁”のメンバーになっていきなりこんな大役を任されるのもうなずけるってもんでしょう!オレってやるもんでしょう!?
Even as an Akatsuki rookie, it's no wonder I was given such an important task, don't you think!? I'm pretty damn good, right!?

Frame 5, Deidara:
Please... You wouldn't have gotten anywhere without the artistic contribution of my explosive clay... It's my art that deserves the praise here, h'm!

Page 7

Frame 1, Deidara:
Stop getting all full of yourself, forgetting the help I provided you! Akatsuki members aren't talkative, they act calm and cool... To make it simple, being cool is being artistic.

Frame 2, Deidara:
Listen up, 'cuase I'm going to let you know what art is... It's the product of a cool mind giving birth to a fiery moment of...

Frame 2, Tobi:
Deidara-san, you're pretty talkative yourself for being part of Akatsuki, huh...? Heheh...

Frame 4, Tobi:
Just kidding... Ugyaaaah!

Page 8

Frame 1, Naruto:
I did it!!

Frame 2, Naruto:
You see that? Right in two! Guess you'd have to say I'm pretty awesome after all, huh?

Frame 3, Naruto:
At this rate I'll have a new jutsu mastered in no time, huh!?

Frame 4, Kakashi:
Actually... It's the training method that let you be so quick... This is all thanks to my ingenious idea, you see...

Page 9

Frame 1, Naruto:
Yeah, whatever, let's just get on to...

Frame 3, Kakashi:
... well, of course, it's because you are who you are that you can do all this

Frame 4, Kakashi:
Yamato, this would be a good time for a rest

Page 10

Frame 1, Kakashi:
Looks like you're awake

Frame 2, Naruto:
Again... Don't tell me I...

Frame 3, Kakashi:
Well, this training method will tend to wear you out... We'll move on with the training after resting a bit more

Frame 4, Kakahsi:
Time for the next step

Frame 6, Naruto:
What're we doing next?

Page 11

Frame 1, Kakashi:
This time we're going to cut a waterfall

Frame 2, Naruto:
A waterfall!?

Frame 2, Yamato:
You're going to put your hands up against the waterfall and cut it with all the "wind" chakra you can manage... In order to do that you'll need to instantaneously produce massive amounts of "elemental recomposition"

Frame 3, Kakashi:
And if you can clear this stage then, if nothing else, it means you can use it in real combat

Frame 5, Naruto:
So if I complete this, it means I've acquired my first "elemental recomposition"

Page 12

Frame 1, Kakashi:
Can't say I was expecting Naruto to be able to produce any "elemental recomposition" this quickly, even in the slightest... Looks like this training method was the perfect choice...

Frame 2, Naruto:
Enough resting already! Time to get started with the training again!

Frame 3, Naruto:
Mass Kage-Bunshin Jutsu!!

Page 13

Frame 1, Deidara:
You listening, Tobi...? Don't you ever get too full of yourself! H'm!

Frame 2, Deidara:
“三尾”は“人柱力”じゃなかったぶん、弱かっただけだ…力をコントロールする頭が無かったからな
Because the Three-tails lacked a jinchuuriki medium, it was all the weaker... It lacked a mind to actually control the power, after all

Frame 6, Deidara:
... Hey, Tobi, I said not to be overly talkative, but that's too quiet... A reply would be...

Page 14

Frame 3, Tobi:
Ugyaaaah!!

Frame 3, Deidara:
Hey asshole, time to wake the hell up! H'm!!

Page 15

Frame 1, Kakuzu:
Here, you carry him for a while

Frame 2, Hidan:
Hey now, just one second, you're the one yelling about the money... So shut the hell up and carry it the whole way

Frame 5, Hidan:
Hey now, what's with the eyes!?

Frame 6, Kakuzu:
One of these days Alice, pow, right in the kisser, I swear I'll kill you

Frame 7, Hidan:
Again and again, that's not something to say to *me*... Kakuzu

Page 16

And that's the end of the briefing... Do any of you have any questions?

Frame 2, Asuma:

Correction: he just had his wedding ceremony + reception. Two different things, getting married and having your ceremony.

People normally have their ceremony right after they're married, but some people wait a couple of weeks, months... a year and a couple of months, in Nihongaeri's case. ;)

Wedding went pretty well. My big Japanese speech actually ended up being a small Japanese speech that was really just a hodge-podge of cliche speech lines, save one brief line of inspiration I managed to somehow wring out of my linguistically-challenged head (although I later searched for it on the internet only to find out that I wasn't the first person to use the phrase 暖かい励ましの後押し, which was both comforting and disheartening at the same time).

I'll see if I can't get some wedding pictures up online later this week for all to see.

Really? If I were to rank the translation myself, I'd, well, at least say that I've done better. For me the part of the chapter that I spent the most time obsessing over was the whole Deidara/Tobi exchange. That, as far as I'm concerned, is the one part of the chapter that should allow for the most creativity... but for better or worse, I wasn't really able to think of anything all that creative... at least not anything that sounded all that great.
Quote:
But a above of all, a story of shallow, capitalist brand exploitation at the expense of the original work's integrity. :)Indeed... did anybody else notice that in the first movie Kakashi copied a hyouton jutsu, despite the manga having now established that as being impossible for anybody without a specific "bloodline limit" allowing for that? Although I suppose you're talking more so of the integrity of the narrative, no?

Quote:
I've heard it before but I'm not sure what the reference is... Hmm...

Lest there be any misunderstanding everyone, I wasn't actually *serious* when I made those "suggestions"... just making it crystal clear (although the "bitch" one wouldn't have been too bad, now that I think about it... :p )

As for the cajones thing... well... hmmm...*should I tell him? I probably should, shouldn't I? Ok, here goes*....

Techinically we don't, but then again I don't think you meant to say you didn't have the drawers (of the kind you find in furniture pieces) to do it... I believe the word you're looking for is cojones, which is pronounced こほねs, with the stress on the ほ, which of course means balls.

Normally in Mexico we use "huevos" (eggs) instead of cojones - i.e, "I didn't have the huevos to do it" (me faltaron huevos para hacerlo), but yes, you may use cojones if you so choose. Huevos, BTW, is pronounced うえぼs - the H is always silent in Spanish.

Hai! :)

Oh, and, while we're at it, dearest English speakers... it's "Caramba" (からんば), not "Carumba"... and we do use it... it's fairly corny, though.

I dunno...I think so... :b]Star Wars... Star Trek... anything with Star in the title, pretty much.

In the case of Naruto... as if one movie (featuring "snow country", no less) wasn't bad enough, we're getting a new one each year... without particularly stupendous production values, even - but what do you expect when they're churned out at the rate of one per year? :darn
