邪魅 / Jami
The name is made up of kanji meaning "wicked, evil" and "charm, bewitching". As mentioned in the chapter, the Jami appears in one of Toriyama Sekien's illustrated youkai guidebooks, in which it is described as youkai that does harm to people in mountain villages who themselves have caused harm. Other accounts echo those given in this chapter, saying it attaches itself to those who have incurred the hatred of other people.
