Isn't one of the verbs unneeded? Or it was meant to be like:

If we were to take the kanji and break them down:

捨 Throwing it away/ giving up
悟入 Obtaining enlightenment
So by giving up "death" or not caring if we die, then we can obtain true enlightenment.]
