-> RTS Page for Bakuman 32
My translation for Bakuman is usually for Shinratensei group only but since they couldn't release, this one is free to use by anyone :) thanks!
P259
32 Page: The phone call and the night before
“KIYOSHI Knight” 1312 votes 3rd place 79% approval
“Suspicious Detective TRAP” 1321 votes 3rd place 76% approval
“hideout door” 1103 votes 3rd pace 73% approval
“colorfusical” 482 votes 14th place 53% approval
Between Kiyoshi and Trap, the average readership age of Trap is 14.3 years old / Kiyoshi’s is 17.5 years old, it's too high / it’s not a shounen-manga but a seinen-manga // but if you look at the male to female ratio, Kiyoshi is higher / 90% male votes is amazing
Male to female ratio is not important now / it’s not like the girls vote a lot and the vote number is higher for Trap // but the approval rate is higher for Kiyoshi // hideout door isn’t out of the running either
P260
T: It’s already 7pm, are they still meeting?
M: Calm down, they said they’re going to contact you when they’re done, right?
F: They’re late…
Nakai: Well, I bet it’s Fukuda-kun or Ashirogi-kun’s manga anyway
F: You never know! In the 1000 voter survey, Ashirogi-kun and my manga came in second place and Nakai-san’s was third but // it won’t be surprising if the 5000 voter survey produces totally different results. Geez how many times are they collecting surveys!
Nakai: A different result…I hope so…
P261
Our editor said that our results were good enough that Aoki-san and I can move in the direction of writing a series, but winning the Golden Future Cup will be a big factor in the series meeting // there’s no way three rookies can all release a series, it’s going to be whoever wins the Cup
F: We came this far, I’m sorry Nakai-san but I’m taking it
Nakai: No, me…!
T: Haaaa
S: Us…
T: Here it is!!
F: Hello, it’s Fukuda!
P262
T: WE WON THE GOLDEN FUTURE CUP!! //YEAAHHH!!
H: But…
F: HELL YEAAAHH!!
Y: Uh, but its not just you…
Niizuma: Ohhh you did it Fukuda-san!!
T: Huh? Two?
H: Yeah, “KIYOSHI knight” too
F: A first ever double-winner?
Y: even though it’s the first ever, it’s only the 6th year
P263
M: Two? But that’s good that you’re first
T: Yeah…great… / right?
S: Yeah…
Nakai: Yes / yes // we didn’t get it but Aoki-san and I can still keep going? / thank you so very much!
Nakai: Haaa Fukuda-kun congratulations
F: I don’t really like that it’s a joint win with Ashirogi-kun
T: That means we have to go up against Fukuda-san again in the series meeting…
M: Let’s stop talking about it now and be happy for now, ok?
S: Yeah, we might have to fight Nakai-san too
Nakai: It’s just like what Niizuma-sensei said… / both are 1st place…
F: I’m more shocked that Niizuma-sensei guessed that more than the first ever double win
Niizuma: Shupipipipipi!
M: I’m so happy for you!
T: stop crying…
S: Have to tell Azuki…
Beep beep
P264
A: Mashiro-kun
S: That was fast!
Azuki’s mail: Congratulations! I don’t know your phone number but can you tell me Takagi-kun’s (lol)
S: Eh…? Not mine but Shuujin’s…?
P265
S: I guess I have to tell her if she’s asking me for it…
Beep beep
T: Oh another call from Hattori-san?
M: You’re so busy now Mr. popular
S: Azuki…what…?
T: Hm? I don’t know this number
T: Hello?
A: It’s Azuki…
T: Eh!? Azuki!?
M: Ehhh!?
T: Aren’t you mistaking the person to call…?
A: Takagi-kun thank you
T: Eh!?
P266
T: Sorry, I’m going out to the balcony
Rattle…
M: What why?
T: Uhh…for what? Azuki-san
A: I’ve been wanting to thank you for a while now…
A: Mashiro-kun and I always say, without you, we would have ended at the end of junior high…
T: Oh…I guess so…
T: But no…I just wanted Saiko to help me with my dream of becoming a mangaka
A: That dream too
A: Mashiro-kun said if you didn’t invite him to join you, he would have lived his days without any future goals / you’re the one that gave him a dream… // I told him to tell you instead of telling me but he said it’s embarrassing to tell you
P267
T: But we still don’t know if choosing this path to become a mangaka was the right choice or the wrong choice
A: Having a dream and working towards it can never be a wrong choice
T: I guess so… // working hard can’t be a bad thing // you can speak to boys, Azuki-san. I was a bit surprised when you suddenly called me
A: Eh?
A: I don’t have to see your face // plus, I don’t have feelings for you
M: What’s going on…!
S: It’s okay Miyoshi / Azuki called Shuujin…
P268
M: Why are you talking so happily with Miho! Isn’t that wrong!?
T: Eh? Yeahh / so funny haha
T: Ah
M: MIHO Takagi is my boyfriend!
M: Speak to Mashiro
A: No…I can’t…
M: Yes you can, you have to say “congratulations” in times like this // here Mashiro!!
P269
It’s the first time to speak… // since graduation…
A: I’ll wait for you
S: It’s Mashiro
A: It’s Azuki
S: Good evening
A: Good evening…
M: Good evening? What the…
T: Haha
A: I wanted to thank Takagi-kun so…
S: Yeah I know
S: Now that we’ve come this far it’s for you… / we’re going to get the series for the sake of me and Takagi and Miyoshi too
T&M: Ohhh!
A: Ok! Good luck! // I’ll work hard too
P270
A: I think it’s easier to talk on the phone
S: Yeah I think so too
M: It’s going well…
T: This is how it should be
A: But… / knowing that it makes me so happy to hear your voice and to be able to speak with you…
S: Yeah I won’t tell you my number and I won’t ask yours / and if I have to talk to you I’ll ask Takagi or Miyoshi for you number
A: I will never call you so if you have to talk to me you have to ask Takagi-kun
S: Ok…that’s what I’ll do
S: The next time we speak is when our manga becomes an anime…
T: They’re not normal!
M: What!
P271
This is how the 6th Jump Golden Future Cup came to an end // when it was announced in the 48th issue sold on October 25th we…
Were finishing up our names for the series meeting
T: Sorry / in order for us to resolve the mystery in the first story, the second has to be 25 pages…
H: Ok, it’s inevitable. It’s good so I’ll try to push this.
H: The second story is OK! All we have left is to make the third story perfect
Aida: Oh you’re working hard
H: Aida-san I have to talk to you later
Aida: Ok let me know
P272
T: Phew / we have to fix it once or twice more and it should be OK
S: We have to fix more than what was said
T: Yeah
Aida: What did you want to talk to me about?
H: It’s about Ashirogi Muto. We’re obviously going to submit it in the series meeting // but can you followup that they are still high school kids?
Aida: Followup?
H: The question of whether they can do a series while they’re in school will come up
Aida: Hey hey / you have a lot of confidence, but yes that will be brought up
P273
H: I’ve only submitted the first 3 stories to the meeting but there are 10 stories // I was testing them out in case they get another series. I had them right one per every two weeks and there are 5 drafts / this was all during the golden future cup
H: I have no way of being in that meeting but I need you to tell them that it’s possible to do a series while in school
Aida: Wow, you worked them this hard…
Aida: Alright, it’s the truth that they can do it
H: Thank you very much!
December 15th, 2 days before the deadline we finished the name for the series meeting
H: Alright good job / I can get it to the meeting / now we have to leave it to the chiefs to make the decision
S&T: Yes sir
P274
The night before the series meeting
Y: You’re working awfully late
H: No not working, but what about you?
Y: I’m hoping to get both Nakai and Fukuda a series / so I have to find new assistants for Niizuma-kun. This time it only matters if they can draw so I’m looking through drafts
H: He’s trying to get them both serialized…
Y: Those are the names for the meeting!
H: Yes, I’ve collected 13
P275
Names to be submitted to the series meeting are first submitted to the group captain. Three stories-worth are submitted. // After the discussion between the Captain and the editors of the manga, the decision is made whether it can be submitted to the meeting or not
OK // re-do this and try again next time // this can’t be submitted, try another manga
The names decided to be submitted to the meeting generally are circulated to the attendees of the meeting a week before / and their feedback is written on their envelopes // the meeting attendees read the feedback and prepare for it
The feedback can be read by anyone, more like it is implied that they should be read as the captains and editors purposely place them on desks for them to be read
This looks like it will be chosen // this one probably won’t…
P276
Y: Ashirogi-kun has some good feedback
H: Oh yeah… / but they point towards the future more than the current…
Y: I bet Arai-sensei’s that got pushed to this one will be chosen
H: But the feedback isn’t too good
Y: I guess if you already have a series you keep getting compared to it… / there are 4 pros in here so there can probably be only 1 newbie…
H: well maybe 2 rookies… but if you look at this, there might be 5
Y: 5 is crazy talk!
H: There was a case like that in the past with “ROOKIES” and “HUNTERxHUNTER”
Y: That’s a legend from before we even started working here / and they’re amazingly all long series too / in reality the norm is not 5, or even 3 but 2
H: I suppose so…
P277
H: I want to let Ashirogi Muto serialize… / not even taking to account my own benefit
Y: I feel the same way
Y: There’s no point in sticking around here, you wanna grab a drink?
H: This late?
Y: We can go to a 24 hour izakaya
H: Haaa… // let’s go
Y: I’m always restless the day before meetings too / we should leave the meeting to the superiors and we should just sleep
H: I think it’s the first time we’ve ever gone out together
Y: Yeah let’s talk manga
Y: I want to be able to attend those meetings soon / it looks like fun
H: I suppose so…
