Farewell
-> RTS Page for
As of this moment, I'm officially turning in my resignation.
Few will be happy by this news, and I know that you probably have some questions so let me address a few of the ones I can anticipate:
1) Why are you leaving? Stay!
Two major reasons:
a) Time. I just don't have it anymore. Did you know it takes me an average of 1 hour per chapter of psyren (~19 pages)? Longer series that are monthly, or things like one shots can easily span anywhere from 2-4 hours. However, just to read the chapter and not translate it takes me a fraction of the time. And this brings me to--
b) My japanese. I've been doing this for a couple years now, and I've had a rude wake-up call. I dabbled in a bit of fansubbing as of late and I am ashamed to admit my ineptitude. I am still looking up things in a dictionary just about every other line. I can't read a newspaper, and watching the news is so very difficult. My original goal was to become fluent, and I feel I am no longer deriving much of any benefit from spending all this time writing english when it could be better spent studying japanese all-out. Furthermore, I do not have the advantage of other people here who live in japan. Self study is brutal, and it's time I step up my game.
2) But you can't go, who's going to translate all this stuff?
There's plenty of new kids on the block. Some of them are shy, some of them lack confidence. But I feel I am leaving you in good hands. If Psyren translations start off choppy, please show them the support you showed me. Even I sucked in the very beginning.
3) What about the stuff you did for NULL?
This is more or less my shameless plug--I'd like to encourage translators to volunteer to fill in the projects I'm leaving behind. Black god is one, magic kaito was kind of forgotten (but you can bring it back!), and LIAR GAME is quite possibly the one that will have the biggest reverberations. You will notice that I did not remove LG from my list of projects, and that's because it is still my goal to finish up to the most "recent chapter available." So, 84 will pretty much be it unless another shows up soon. When I remove it from the list, then I will have quit completely. I have no plans to translate Roots of A. Pray that projectliargame/jewan returns, since that was his share, or try it out for yourself.
4) Will you ever come back?
I feel bad enough about all the promises I'm breaking to quit to now make another promise I may also break. The fact is, I have no plans in the foreseeable future to return. Please make arrangements that will allow your favorite projects and groups to continue. If I do decide to come back I'll simply volunteer to chip in; it's win-win either way.
In closing, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the many people out there who supported me over the years...if I were to name everyone I know I'd forget somebody and I don't want to offend anyone. Certainly, we all owe it to the raw providers, scanlators, and people who maintain this site for all their hard work behind the scenes.
It's been fun guys. I'll still be around...but as a leecher.
All the best. Shrimpy out.

Ganbatte!
Good luck on your Japanese!
Thanks again.
That, sir, is the challenge.
I have to keep telling myself import video games are NOT study guides...but my mind does not wish to listen.
It's a shame you have to leave but where roads divulge now, can meet up again further down the road.
All the best in becoming fluent, I hope to see you back here but we never know what happens in life. Just take it as it comes.
Thanks Shrimpy!!!
