Even with all of his skills and tenacity, The Ninja has proven no match for the power of Satan Cross! But is his latest victory finally secured...and is this a sign of Super Phoenix's squad romping through to the Throne?

Chapter 305: Scramble for the Kinniku Throne (32): Prediction of Perfect Victory

87.
Announcer: Satan Cross, which has separated into two bodies, has sent The Ninja to the air—!!
S. Cross (lower): Centaur Killing Technique---!!
S. Cross (upper): Number 1~~~~!!

88.
Announcer: Wh…what—is this technique---!?
S. Cross: RAISING TECHNIQUE: TRIANGLE DREAMER!!

89.
Buffalo: This technique has ended it: it is from the position of imagining this form as a triangle that it was given that ridiculous name of “Triangle Dreamer”.
Brocken: Yes…even if it was taken by one opponent, it is a suitable result: being done by a duo from the left and right to a suspended ceiling makes this a terrifying murdering technique!!
Ninja: Guo!!
Ashura: But what’s strange is that the unthinkable dual bodies of Satan Cross have, somehow, halted in midair without even falling while performing their technique on Ninja. On Earth, there is a thing called “gravity”.
Soldier: Everyone—look there: Satan Cross is suspended by threads on the ceiling lighting; that’s where they’ve tied their own bodies and are dangling from!!

90.
Brocken: Right: though it’s transparent that they’re dangling by strong threads, it seems like they really are floating in mid-air.
Soldier: Perhaps when they threw Ninja into the air, they meanwhile threw up the strings that were wrapped around their own bodies and hung them to the ceiling lights.
Buffalo: This is a precise victory of a Western jutsu that has exceeded a ninja of Japan, its birthplace.
Ashura: N…no: The Ninja hasn’t lost yet. Soldier: let’s stand with Ninja to the end with the Encouragement Formation!!
Soldier: Right: the Encouragement Formation!!

91.
Team Soldier: Right!!
Announcer: Team Soldier’s side has suddenly appeared as a huge Choujin wall by ringside-----!!

92.
Team Soldier: Don’t throw away your hopes, The Ninja---!!
Ninja: The…Encouragement Formation…I’m…grateful to you all. How…ever, I can’t do anymore!!
Ninja: It has come with my endurance of the Triangle Dreamer even a bit, I…was just thinking of all of you with my capture means.
Announcer: The Ninja has truly stopped his opposition---!!
Brocken: That Ninja is going to die.
Ninja: Watch: this is how a Japanese Ninja dies.
S. Cross (lower): Ke—kekeke: Ninja, you’re finally going to die!!
S. Cross (upper): As you wish: we’ll send you to that world!!

93.
Ninja: Gu!!
Announcer: Ge—the two Satan Cross squeezing The Ninja’s body all at once from both sides and is splitting The Ninja’s body in half---!!
Team Soldier: Ninja----!!

94.
Team Soldier: NINJAA
Announcer: Team Soldier’s formation, which has saved Ninja from crisis many times during the match, has crumbled. And at the same time, The Ninja’s defeat has been completed--!!
Announcer: At this moment, it is decided to be the victory of Satan Cross and Team Phoenix has gotten their first victory alongside Team Kinnikuman at Himeji Castle---!!

95.
Phoenix: It’s been 15 minutes and 34 seconds since the start of the match: I wanted you to defeat a Choujin like Ninja within 15 minutes, but, oh well, you did fine.
S. Cross: Haha—Phoenix-sama.
Ninja: I’m…sorry…
Brocken: What are you saying: you’ve fought well.
Ninja: So…Soldier, tell me just one thing: wh…why, with the many other Choujin out there, did you choose me as a member of your team?
Soldier: Your patience! I wanted to teach the other members the guts of the Japanese ninja: regardless of your circumstance, you never give up to your opponent’s technique without throwing away the match.
Ninja: Ri…right. However, that…unsightly battle was really…helpful for…all of…you…huh…

96.
Team Soldier: Ninja---!!
Soldier: You’ve helped plenty, Ninja, in the splendid way you died.
Soldier: You’ve flared up the other members and planted in them a burning fighting spirit.
Caption: HIMEJI CASTLE—

97.
Suguru: Bu…but Team Phoenix is strong…
Terry: Including their battles with Team Big Body in the first round, that’s six consecutive KO victories without a loss.
Caption: NAGOYA CASTLE—
Phoenix: To all of you paying attention to this Survival Match in this entire audience at Nagoya Castle, as well as throughout the universe.

98.
Phoenix: I predict that we of Team Phoenix will be the champions by winning fifteen consecutive victories without one loss through our entire card of the first round, second round and the finals!!
Announcer: Somehow, it’s a prediction of Team Phoenix’s perfect victory---!!
Voice: KAKAKAKA
Ashura: Aren’t you coming out huge again with your prediction of perfect victory.

99.
Ashura: That’s being said on top of knowing that I am Satan Cross’ next opponent.
Phoenix: …………
Announcer: Team Soldier’s Second-Guard is the shooting (major match) machine Ashuraman.
(TN: This is really confusing: the announcer literally calls Ashuraman a “shooting machine” yet puts in caption the “shooting” as “shinken shoubu”, which is a “major match” as explained here)
Ashura: Ninja, these are shoulder guards that were a present from you!!
Ninja: Ashuraman, I’ve made you these shoulder guards equipped with mechanics. Put them on when in your match. When you’re in a pinch, I’m sure they should save you.
S. Cross: Oh brother, only a minor Choujin would wear that sort of bluff!
(TN: When S. Cross says “minor Choujin”, he uses the expression “Jakushou Choujin”; “jakushou”, BTW, can also stand for “young”…trust me on this)

100.
Announcer: Well the gong for the decisive match has rung: can Ashuraman prevent the consecutive victory record as expected of Team Phoenix---!!
Phoenix: Fufufu…Ashuraman can never win against Satan Cross!! That’s because Satan Cross is Ashuraman’s……fufufu.
Ashura: Sorya!!
Announcer: Ashuraman launches a major fierce attach of punching Satan Cross quickly at the start of the match, but they’re all being avoided.
S. Cross: You’ll go from two right jabs to a left straight.
S. Cross: And next is your upper.

101.
S. Cross: And finish up with a right roundhouse kick.
Ashura: Uh……
Ashura: Uwa!!
Ashura: Haa haa: how, how can you read my attacks in advance?
S. Cross: Fufufu, that’s because…
S. Cross: I’ve known about you since you were a baby…
Ashura: You’ve known me as a baby?

102.
Ashura: You speak nonsense—
Announcer: Ashuraman’s Shoulder Tackle has cleanly hit Satan Cross---!!
Ashura: I’VE CRACKED SATAN CROSS’ BODY!!
Announcer: Somehow, Satan Cross’ real form is breaking apart and another body is appearing from inside---!!

103.
“S. Cross”: You still don’t know, boy?
Ashura: Th….that voice is…
Ashura: My wrestling tutor from childhood: Samson Teacher!!
Ashura: It…can’t be him: Samson Teacher should have died when he was swallowed by the waterfall basin when he saved me from drowning when I was a child!!
S. Teacher: Uwa

104.
Ashura: …………
S. Teacher: Ke—keke---!!
(TN: Though he’ll be referred to by both names from here on, I’m referring him to “Samson Teacher” from here on akin to my calling “Kinnikuman Great” based on their true identity, whether it be Kamehame or Terry)
Ashura: Uwa---!!
Announcer: There it is---!! It’s the stance for Ashuraman’s certain-kill Ashura Buster---!!
S. Teacher: Kekeke: Ashuraman, have you lost control with this much dread? The Ashura Buster at a glance is fixing your entire body into a Kinniku Buster making escape seem impossible, but you’ve forgotten that in truth there is a weakness in that only your neck section can’t be hooked.

105.
S. Teacher: If I can remove my neck, then I can escape this simply.
S. Teacher: Ge—a neck lock from the shoulder guard…
Ashura: I’m thankful that Ninja’s shoulder guards are protecting me!!

ASHURAMAN VS. SATAN CROSS

TN: Let us begin this time around with a word you may know of: consistency. What is "consistency", you may ask? It is a noun that, according to Merriam-Webster, stands for "an agreement or harmony of parts or features to one another or a whole". It is through consistency that a story, whether it be a novel or a manga, is able to make complete and total sense and connect through with no problems, going perfectly from "A" to "B". With that said...this chapter stunk on consistency matters...and I can name three in particular easily. Sure some may not think that it's a problem, but they just bug me regarding how it was done:

1. Let's look at how the chapter begins: The Ninja is falling from the sky as the now-revealed double body of Satan Cross jumps high into the sky to perform their big finishing technique: the Triangle Dreamer. Now, as the chapter depicts it, there seems to be no problem: Ninja falls down, Satan Cross bodies jump up, hook themselves onto the ceiling, double kick Ninja, special move complete. But let's look back at the end of the last chapter: when the chapter ends, the Satan Cross bodies come apart while the Ninja is on the ground and stab him with icicles; they then stomp onto the Ninja's back, which is laying on the ground, and simultaneously lift him up to do a similar Triangle Dreamer! Now...I'm not dreaming, am I? Did I miss something where they pull him up into the air or do that first part to kick him up, then do the real Triangle Dreamer in the air, right? I mean, we see The Ninja falling to the ground, which he wasn't doing at any time at the end of the last chapter...let alone it seems like they do something similar again when they do it at the start of the next chapter!? So then...is the end of the last chapter the start of the Triangle Dreamer, is it two different Triangle Dreamers...or is this just a massive screw-up regarding consistency? I imagine the last one myself but I'm willing to hear to see if I screwed up.

2. When Super Phoenix announced the amount of time for Satan Cross to defeat The Ninja, he gave it as 15 minutes, 34 seconds...so...basically, let's get this straight: it took 15:34 to do everything from the first "replacement jutsu" bit (which was actually before Meat/Manriki) to that final catch of Ninja? Now let's take these into consideration: first of all, there was an entire 10 minute period where it was nothing but Ninja searching around for Satan Cross when he was hidden by the fog in the ring. If you take that away, then everything else had to take 5:34 to occur in the match, split in two between "the beginning of the match to the start of the fog tactic" and "the end of the fog tactic to the end of the match". But wait, there's more: considering that Ninja/Satan Cross was depicted as starting at the same time as Meat/Manriki, then we have to add in the entire time period by which the former match took place...which is easily over 30 minutes since Warsman came in, ended up relearning everything, then shorted out! So then...Super Phoenix is way off (and way stupid) in thinking that Satan Cross was even within 15 minutes! (unless somehow they froze in time to watch the Meat/Warsman vs. Manriki and then restarted once it was over...and it's unknown whether or not they counted the 10 minutes of Ninja panicking in fog)

3. This actually is tied to another of the really good things I liked about this chapter...but it still feels like a consistency matter to me. This is in regards to Ninja teaching them all about the patience and the "never give in" attitude that his clan possessed. Aside from still asking questions of "where he came from and how Soldier was able to meet up with him considering he was last squashed on a Hell Canvas", I liked that explanation. But while having Soldier, Buffaloman and Brocken learn all that from him...I still don't get why Ashuraman was included as part of it. Lets remind ourselves again: Ashuraman and The Ninja were both Devil Knights working together under Satan to create Akuma Shogun alongside the angry mask of Goldman! Now is it just me or wouldn't Ashuraman already know about Ninja's styles and appreciate what he's about without having to go through this exercise in the first place? Sure I do appreciate that Ashuraman is actually one of the more interested and actually seems one of the few to trust Ninja aside from Soldier (potentially from the past), but why would Ashuraman need to learn something he already knew about his former evil teammate? The only real reason I can think of is he probably forgot or didn't care: with all the different methods and things you could learn from the Devil Knights (like getting pointy things stuck in you from Junkman, the millions of ways to be eaten alive by Sneagator or how to get crushed in many different forms by Sunshine and Planetman), The Ninja's patience is probably one that wouldn't come in handy unless you're a good guy.

I sort of wish I had more time to get into the other major revelation of the chapter...but I think I'll be consistent and wait until next time...but then again there are other things I want to talk about then.
