Chapter 307: Scramble for the Kinniku Throne (34): Turnaround! Secret of the “8” Character
128.
Announcer: Ashuraman has made a mental play by attaching his neck-lock shoulder guards to both his knees, turning them into foot-locks---!!
S. Teacher: Hihihi, how could I forget that you have that all-purpose present?
S. Teacher: Ninpou: Sand Cushion!!
129.
Brocken: Th…that’s the man-made sand pit used by Satan Cross to soften the shock when he crashed into the ring with the Ashura Buster earlier!!
Buffalo: N…no: Ashuraman, your technique is being prevented again---!!
Ashura: You’re needlessly worrying!!
Announcer: Just before their fall, Ashuraman is rotating his body so he can finish his technique with Satan Cross---!!
Brocken: Ooh! The rotation of Ashuraman’s body has caused wind which has blown away Satan Cross’ Sand Cushion!!
Ashura: Now!!
130.
Ashura: Ashura Izuna Drop---!!
(TN: The “Izuna” in the technique “Ashura Izuna Drop” is in reference to a type of a rope made of a rice plant usually used for wells. Therefore “Izuna Drop” can be literally be “rice rope drop” or “well rope drop”)
Brocken: He did it—he’s won his revenge match for Ninja---!!
S. Teacher: Kukkukuku
Ashura: Satan Cross is still alive?
131.
S. Teacher: Your soft, Ashuraman: did you think that sort of technique will defeat me?
Ashura: Wh…why: you’ve taken that perfect Ashura Izuna Drop, why are you so lively…
S. Teacher: Have you forgotten! Samson Teacher, the true identity of Satan Cross, is your wrestling teacher!! Therefore, your Ashura Izuna Drop is a thing that was originally taught to you by me!!
Ashura: Aah!!
Ashura: Right…this technique is because of Samson Teacher, who exhaustively knew it; so even if he took an Izuna Drop that would be that perfected, he can instantly remove his vitals from it and take it passively…
132.
S. Teacher: It’s not just your Ashura Izuna Drop: I’ve taught you almost all your special techniques, including Ashura Buster and Tornado Hell.
Ashura: (flashback) TORNADO HELL! HEY!
S. Teacher: The inventor of a technique, at the same time, exhaustively knows the way to defeat the technique too. In other words: the special techniques you’ve brought out can’t really be used on me!!
133.
S. Teacher: Whatever you do, you can never win against me!!
Brocken: Don’t be puzzled by that nonsense, Ashuraman: though the inventor of the techniques is Samson Teacher, the Ashura Buster and Ashura Izuna Drop should have become your own over these many long years.
Ashura: Ri…right: if I think about what I’ve been taught by Samson Teacher, the Ashura Buster, the Izuna Drop and many other techniques were incomplete.
Ashura: However, these incomplete techniques were repeated through trial and error over twenty years while adding in improvement research: ultimately, these one who perfected them was me!!
Ashura: Samson Teacher…no, Satan Cross, I don’t have any techniques that were taught to me by you.
134.
Ashura: The techniques I have now are all original holds---!!
Announcer: With a change in attitude, Ashuraman is again in the stance for the Izuna Drop.
Ashura: Let me show you a perfect Izuna Drop that you can’t take passively---!!
135.
Buffalo: Ooh! Isn’t he doing it fondly: this way he’s entering into his perfect technique!!
S. Teacher: Kekeke! When I taught you the Ashura Izuna Drop, didn’t I say that the technique resembles the number “8”?
Ashura: The number “8”?
Caption: 20 YEARS AGO—
Ashura: Achura Ichuna Chrop—
(TN: Yeah it’s intentionally misspelled since little Ashuraman isn’t pronouncing it correctly either)
S. Teacher: Young master, please pay attention: the Izuna Drop is like the number 8!
Ashura: Eh!?
Ashura: Ah!
136.
Ashura: Uwa!!
Ashore: Uwa—h
S. Teacher: Are you alright, young master? The number “8” takes the same form whether it’s seen right-side up or upside-down. Thus similarly, the Ashura Izuna Drop will have the same form whether right-side up or upside-down……
S. Teacher: Therefore, whenever you perform this technique on a technique from now on, you will never invert this stance for your opponent.
S. Teacher: If it is inverted, the performer of the technique will end up switched to the enemy, hurting your feelings like earlier.
Ashura: Right, I’ll never have it inverted.
137.
Ashura: Ri…right: that’s the meaning of the Ashura Izuna Drop = the number 8.
S. Teacher: You’ve finally remembered, Ashuraman.
Ashura: However, the words that you used were for the Izuna Drop of long ago: the Izuna Drop that is now improved can’t have those words applied.
S. Teacher: Does it really?
S. Teacher: Ninpou: Elastic-At-Will Arms!
Buffalo: Ge—Satan Cross has disconnected two of his four arms to make longer arms…!!
Ashura: Take this—Ashura Izuna Drop---!!
138.
Announcer: So…somehow, Satan Cross’s added lengthened arms has grabbed on to both sides of the top rope, preventing the Izuna Drop from falling in the ring---!!
Ashura: Wh…what…!?
S. Teacher: Izuna Return---!!
139.
Announcer: Satan Cross is using the recoil of the rope he had grabbed with his hands, reversing into the stance for the Izuna Drop in midair and becoming the technique’s user---!!
Ashura: I…can’t escape!!
S. Teacher: Kekeke…The Ninja’s shoulder pads have now become your enemy.
Soldier: It’s too late!!
Buffalo: Ashuraman!!
140.
Caption: HIMEJI CASTLE—
Robin: The Ashura Izuna Drop…it surely is a double-edged sword special technique!!
Suguru: How: if you can defeat a technique by reversing it, then couldn’t Ashuraman return it to before if he reversed it once more? I did as such too when in my Buster battle with Buffaloman!!
Terry: What’s called a “returned technique” is initially possible when the returnee exceeds the power of their opponent. However, Ashuraman now is at most 10 Million Power, but Satan Cross easily 20 Million Power, double that.
Terry: A 10 Million Power Ashuraman can’t reverse a technique of a 20 Million Power Satan Cross.
Suguru: So then it’s as if you’re saying Ashuraman can’t really grant his wish to win, isn’t it—
Announcer: Ashuraman is getting up.
141.
Ashura: Uh…
S. Teacher: Ashuraman, it’s quite good to think that that much force and guts is better applied for evil than to be used for justice. I can’t say that you’re evil. Go home to the Demon World now where your parents are waiting. And then, as prince of the Demon World, you can redo your devil training once more.
S. Teacher: Ninpou: Demon World Swamp----!!
Announcer: Satan Cross is now spreading out on top of the ring a sheet with the pattern of a dusky swamp---!!
142.
Ashura: U…uo…this is a bottomless swamp.
S. Teacher: This swamp will become your route to the Demon World.
S. Teacher: Ashuraman, your body will completely be submerged within the swamp. When it does, you’ll be the prince of the Demon World once again, revived as a Devil Choujin.
Ashura: No—I don’t want to return to being a devil!!
Brocken: Don’t give up—the power of a Choujin who has awakened into Justice is infinity---!! Awaken your sleeping power---!!
143.
Ashura: The power of a Choujin who has awakened to justice is infinity……
Thought: INFINITY INFINITY INFINITY INFINITY
Ashura: I still have it—the wish to win---!!
Announcer: Ashuraman, whose body had gone into the Demon World halfway, has revived from the abyss of hell---!!
Announcer: And he has placed Satan Cross into the stance for the Ashura Izuna Drop once again---!!
S. Teacher: Kekeke—you can do your Izuna Drop many times, but I’ll reverse the stance with my double 20 Million Power!!
144.-145.
Ashura: Satan Cross, you earlier said that my Izuna Drop = the number 8…
Ashura: So what happens when the number 8 is turned sideways?
S. Teacher: I…Infinity!!
Announcer: With Ashuraman’s sudden change in stance, Satan Cross can’t reverse the technique!!
Caption: INFINITY
Team Soldier: Ashura Infinity Power!!

(SCRAMBLE FOR THE KINNIKU THRONE ARC)
SPECIAL VTR XXVIII
ASHURAMAN VS. SATAN CROSS
TN: Recently when visiting a notable Kinnikuman board, I've been listening in on conversation regarding the whole purpose and need of "Choujin Power", those random numbers that seem to identify the strength of a Choujin in some way or another. In particular, the main problem that keeps coming up is this: what is the purpose of Choujin Power in the first place? Considering that a lot of Choujin fights tend to be more about technique and skills alongside certain aspects of strength, isn't this just more-or-less a number akin to some of the stupid power-level stuff in other manga? Well from how it is depicted, both in general (and in particular in this chapter), Choujin Power isn't necessarily the be-all and end-all of a Choujin's abilities but it is one that does seem to come in handy to have than to not have. It seems to be the crucial factor in regards to the power and effectiveness of the techniques used by a Choujin, in particular the special finishing moves that they used in their matches. In some ways, you probably can also equate a phenomenon such as "Burning Inner Strength" alongside the regular Choujin Power, flashing out and increasing power allowing for a finisher to...well, finish an opponent with a burst of energy. Of course, the other time when Choujin Power seems to come into play again in again is returning certain techniques: as we've seen with Buffaloman's now classic "6-to-9" Kinniku Buster reversal...or this chapter's "Izuna Drop 8 effect", a Choujin who is more powerful than another is able to easily take a special technique and turn it on it's ear, stopping or even using the technique against them appropriately.
It's really hard to figure out how it pertains to this chapter, particularly with the way the Ashura Izuna Drop was depicted, but I guess it's like this: the technique in general appears like a pretty obvious one to be reversed, but Ashuraman is usually facing a way weaker Choujin compared to his 10 Million Power, preventing the reversal from occurring. (then again it's hard to figure how it could be tested since the Ashura Izuna Drop is introduced in this very chapter...though it does remind me very much of Neptune King's "Megaton King Drop" and we know he's way more powerful being a Perfect Choujin) However, because Samson Teacher/Satan Cross is already a more powerful 20 Million Power Choujin, he is able to take advantage of Choujin Power to easily reverse the technique and flip his student as such. Therefore I guess it's more or less a situational technique: sure it's powerful but only as long as Ashuraman is powerful enough to prevent it from being reversed. Against Samson Teacher though...yeah, then it all comes down to pulling a weird trick like the "infinity" part. (though I have a hard time imagining how that is going to end on either's behalf)
With that said, there isn't too much more to talk about with this chapter. I did like Ashuraman's speech about how Samson Teacher taught him all that stuff...and he perfected it. (though it's sort of hard to say that with the Kinniku Buster considering that Ashuraman wouldn't have known of it until Suguru adapted one of the 48 Moves into such...unless he prepped it for the base one and improved on it when Suguru made it one of his big techniques) But the part about the swamp taking Ashuraman instantly back to the Devil Choujin realm...was weird. (not as weird as the sun appearing via the Midnight Sheet but weird enough) But at least it sounds like he hasn't gone home since leaving during the Tag Tournament...but you do have to wonder where Ashuraman has been all these months if he isn't in the Devil Choujin realm and not really that social elsewhere.
