Vol. 17: Choujinken: The Final Ultimate Justice
Chp. 151: The Immortal Man!!
7.
(Yep…and here comes Djoser)
8.-9.
Djoser: MY NAME IS DJOSER. Now you should come………………!! Fully realize the power of the great Pharaoh Sphinx, who has awakened from its 5,000 year slumber.
Toramaru: Wh…what is th…that---!!
Togashi: It’s…a mummy: a mummy man---!!
10.
Toramaru: A…5,000 year slumber~~~!?
Togashi: Wh…what, he’s saying it without knowing the reason, that guy!!
Raiden: Pharaoh Sphinx…it’s…ridiculous, I…don’t believe it: their legend is true………………!!
Momotarou: You know of them, Raiden……!?
11.
Raiden: The legend is that their duty is to protect their Pharaoh, who is entombed in the pyramids of the Ancient Egyptian dynasties and their vast treasures………this group that is called Pharaoh Sphinx have been presented eternal bodies and lives and possess strange techniques and arts to bring down the death penalty on those who invades the tomb and disturbs the sleep of the Pharaoh from ancient times to modern times.
Hien: Now you mention it, there’s a story that I’ve heard well of a group of archeologists that were investigating the pyramids who had reached strange and unnatural deaths due to the curse of their royal family.
Date: So they’re the ones who actually executed them in the shadows……!!
Momotarou: Yet even so, what exactly are these eternal bodies and lives……………!!
Toramaru: Heh, is…isn’t this hilarious: this is an age where humans have taken a rocket to the moon and back! How could this monster-like thing been saved and be here!!
Togashi: Ye…yeah!! Wahhahaha: e…even if he looks like a mummy with a body completely covered in bandages, I’ve decided it’s a bluff!
Voice: Fu…interesting.
12.
Senkuu: I’ll make certain their authenticity.
Togashi: SE…SENKUU---!!
Senkuu: The black rose in the language of flowers is “death for eternity to him”……!! If this guy has lived throughout these five-thousand years, then its good time for him to gradually be given rest.
(TN: Senkuu is correct: by way of the language of flowers, the black rose has several meanings; one of which is “revenge to a foe” or “wanting to kill a person”…which I guess Senkuu is going after. But at the same time, the black rose also has meanings of “happiness”, “farewell” and even “pure love” due to it’s impossibility to obtain)
13.
Momotarou: Be careful!! I feel from those guys an utterly different thing than the enemies we’ve fought until now……!!
Senkuu: Right…!!
Toramaru: We…we ask of you, Senkuu-senpai---!!
Togashi: Pu…pull off that mummy-guy’s disguise---!!
14.
(Is it just me or does Senkuu always seem first in line to fight utter weirdo groups?)
15.
Senkuu: Sorry for making you wait. You will be facing Senkuu, one of the Otokojuku Shitennou.
Djoser: It’s all futile…………the sacred Nile flows from bottom to top, the sand of the Sahara disappears without leaving one grain, and there is no chance for you.
Djoser: You should see this: the five-thousand year mystery of our Pharaoh Sphinx!!
Senkuu: !!
16.
Djoser: P – S (PHARAOH SPHINX) HISHOUGI: MIRACLE OF HATSHEPSUT!!
(TN: Alright, we got a few factors here so might as well list them and explain them:
1. Pharaoh Sphinx when abbreviated is made “F – S” in Japanese, but it is going off the Japanese pronunciation where the first katakana is pronounced with an “F”. I decided to make it easier for English audiences: I made it “P – S”
2. “Hishougi” really has no direct meaning but can be best made out as “secret received honor”.
3. Considering the attacks are all based on Egyptian terms and are going to be a lot of references and not too much Chinese/Japanese, I will be translating them all this time around (well those referring to the Egyptian matters; those which are all kanji like a typical Otokojuku attack or phenomenon will remain in Japanese) but still give off the Japanese version in the translator notes. In this case, “Hatshepsut no Kiseki” = “Miracle of Hatshepsut”
4. Egyptology lesson time: Hatshepsut is the female fifth pharaoh of the 18th dynasty, notable as the longest and most successful of all female pharaohs)
Senkuu: ………!?
Djoser: I and my body are eternal things, like the immortal pyramids towering over the surrounding ground, eternal since ancient antiquity. Now, you should come from anywhere.
Toramaru: Wh…what is th…that~~~!!
Togashi: Wh….white smoke is gushing out from his entire body---!!
Senkuu: Fu…an eternal body……!? What are you joking about!!
17.
Senkuu: RIKU-KE: SHOUJIN SENBUUKYAKU!!
(TN: “Shoujin Senpuukyaku” = “Heel-Blade Whirlwind Kick”)
18.
(Round and round he goes…where Senkuu stops…who knows)
19.
Togashi: A…amazing: Senkuu’s attacking consecutively without losing even his breath--!!
Toramaru: The mummy-man is completely overwhelmed and while he’s avoiding it, it’s with all his might---!!
Senkuu: What’s the matter: your body hasn’t awakened from its sleep yet!? If so, I’ll wake you up now!!
20.
Toramaru: You…did it---!! Se…Senkuu---!
Togashi: He splendidly drove a Senpuukyaku to his back---!!
Senkuu: Even if I didn’t give a fatal wound, it seems this makes it match.
21.
Senkuu: Huh………!? What’s going on there……!! I’m certain this is a reaction, but there isn’t even a drop of blood from his wound.
Djoser: This makes it match…………!?
Senkuu: ………!!
22.
Senkuu: Nuu!!
23.
Djoser: Don’t you understand yet: it’s impossible to destroy an eternal body!!
Senkuu: Y…you………!!
Togashi: How…stupid: he…he’s calm while bearing that severe wound---!! I…don’t believe this: he’s really a monster~~~!!
24.
Senkuu: KU!!
Senkuu: I don’t understand……!! Even if this isn’t an illusion, this guy isn’t a doll! However, it’s unbelievable that there’s an immortal in this world!! I’m certain this should be some trick to this!
25.
Senkuu: RIKU-KE ROUCHUUKEN: BAKUCHOUSATSU!!
(TN: “Riku-ke Rouchuuken: Bakuchousatsu” = “Riku-ke [Kill-School] Set-String Fist: Bind-and-Stretch Murder”)
Toramaru: He…did it--!! Senkuu’s steel wire has cut off one of his arms---!
Togashi: It’s…a situation that it’s better that you chop him up if he doesn’t understand even if he’s cut ---!! I…I’m certain with that---!
26.
Senkuu: What do you intend to do with your fallen arm……!? You’re called Djoser: well what will come to that next is your head!!
Senkuu: Wh…what!?
Djoser: It’s impossible to destroy an eternal body………!!
TN: Alright, reality check time: we've got a slightly-effeminate but manly character with a tall blond haircut fighting against an Egyptian warrior who claims to be immortal...so...are you really sure that's not Polnareff? Yeah...people are probably going to be asking that about now if they know of the Silver Chariot-wielding Frenchman from "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure"...but let's just keep a reality check in place: this chapter with Senkuu fighting Djoser was written and released in 1988 (though he was originally created in '86 with most of the rest of the 3rd Years)...and Polnareff doesn't show up until slightly over a year later in 1989 in JoJo! So...could Polnareff and Senkuu be related in a way none of us realize yet? Is it just coincidence that Araki and Miyashita had a similar character? That...probably will never be known, but the chapter was awesome regardless considering Senkuu always gives an entertaining fight...and always seems to end up fighting weirdoes somehow or another. (well OK, it's just Djoser and Achilles, but to go from fighting Togashi and Hien to fighting a guy on a unicycle and an "immortal mummy"...yeah, Senkuu really needs to stop fighting first to test things out for the rest of Otokojuku if he doesn't want any more weirdos)
