Hieroglyph of Giza
-> RTS Page for Sakigake!! Otoko Juku 154
Senkuu has proves the true mortality of the supposed-immortal Djoser and delivered the first blow to Pharaoh Sphinx! But to get through the next stage, they may have to take a blast from someone's past!
Chp. 154: Hieroglyph of Giza
67.
Djoser: GUWAAA~~~!!
68.
(Title Page…yeah, we’ll be seeing a lot of Hien from here on)
69.
Senkuu: I don’t like useless killing.
Djoser: Ugugu……!!
Senkuu: If you have surgery immediately, you’ll save just your life. Blessedly, you have an abundance of bandages.
Toramaru: He…did it---!! Se…Senkuu, as expected just of being called the best trickster of the Otokojuku Shitennou---!
(TN: Though I made use of “trickster”, the term made is “wazashi”, which usually translates into a “shrewd fellow” or a “tricky wrestler”; due to the tricks that Senkuu used, I ended up using “trickster” due to how it’s used here)
Togashi: Sp…splendid: it was a T.K.O. when he saw through the trick of that eerie mummy-man----!!
Raiden: Fu: he severed the steel wire with a blade he prepared in the flower of the rose just before his head fell off……
Momotarou: He’s that kind of man: he doesn’t just stand with merely skill.
Senkuu: !!
70.
Djoser: Nuuu!!
Togashi: Wh…what---!! That Djoser is…standing up again---!
Toramaru: He…he’s still at it wi…with those wounds---!!
Senkuu: It’s endgame……………..won’t you lose your life with that insignificant willpower: you’ve fought enough………!!
71.
Djoser: Fu: yo…you’re a soft man; giving sympathy to an opponent in a fight where we’ve bet life-and-death………………O…Otokojuku is a co…collection of just those like you………!!
Djoser: Th…that softness at any rate will certainly be fatal to all of you.
Senkuu: ………!!
Djoser: GLORY TO THE GREAT PHARAOH!!
72.
Toramaru: Wh…what~~~!!
Togashi: Th…that Djoser ha…has cast himself into the boiling lava---!!
Senkuu: ………………...!!
73.
Anubis: You’ve become pitiful, Djoser. You should take your eternal rest carefree. Your regrets will be cleared away soon.
74.
“Cloaked Man”: Have you called for me, Anubis-sama?
75.
Anubis: Always give thanks to Neith, goddess of conflict. A man like you has the good fortune to not turn away to the enemy……!!
(TN: “Neith” [also known as “Nit”, “Net” or “Neit”] is an early Egyptian goddess notable as the god of war and hunting)
“Cloaked Man”: Fu, please leave this to me, Anubis-sama. Otokojuku…their corpses shall be offered as sacrifices to goddess Neith.
Senkuu: They’re terrible men. Their complete defeat is redeemed by their own death……
Momotarou: We’re certain that they’re not remnant men who just bluff. As expected: with this becoming the 2nd round of the Finals Tournament, we can’t use ordinary methods on them.
Toramaru: Heh: what’s with all you letting out your feint hearts!! I’m going in and properly sending that group of unknown nature back to the Museum of Ancients!!
Togashi: Don’t say that stupid thing, Toramaru!! You taking on a mummy will have you fall into becoming a mummy!!
Toramaru: U…uwaa---!! W…watch out; w…we’re falling---!
Baron Dino: Why are you two playing around? The next player has already been decided.
76.
Togashi & Toramaru: Wha: Hi…Hien---!!
Toramaru: Ho…hold on a moment, hey---!! Continuing with your Shuten Douji-fight and Taigen Houshi-fight in the preliminary tournament, this’ll be your third appearance---!!
(TN: Technically they’re correct…but remember: Taigen Houshi was mostly just finishing the match for Eikei…so this is Hien’s first full fight since Shuten Douji)
Togashi: Right: saying it’s because you have quite many female fans, well…isn’t this doing too much!!
(TN: Togashi was correct: Hien did have a big female following by this point)
Hien: Listen to this………
Togashi: Hu—h!?
Momotarou: ………………
Toramaru: Wh…what---!!
Togashi: Is…is that true, huh---!!
77.
Toramaru: Alright, Hien, go and do to your heart’s content!!
Togashi: We’ll be rooting for you, putting in our guts with all our might!!
Toramaru: Hooray—hooray—Hien--!!
Togashi: You’re great—the best lady-killer of Otokojuku---!!
Momotarou: Be careful, Hien. They use uncanny techniques.
Hien: Right……!!
Date: What did Hien say to you two…!?
Toramaru: Wahhahaha: he’s going to introduce us to girls now!!
Togashi: That’s a promise, Hien---!!
Hien: Fu, but then that’s the story if I return alive…………
78.
Pinedjem: My name is Pinedjem, one of Pharaoh Sphinx. I will be taking your head…!!
(TN: “Pinedjem” is most likely in reference to “Pinedjem I”, the High Priest of Amun, Thebes and the defacto leader of southern Egypt from 1054 BC to his death in 1032 BC. His rule of Pharaoh was established by breaking the southern half of Egypt away from the ruling pharaoh Smendes of the 21st Dynasty, with many claiming him the next great pharaoh after the reign of Ramses II. Another Pinedjem, Pinedjem II, also ruled the south later, but I assume that the Pinedjem that this fighter is named after is the first)
79.
Hien: Pinedjem……
Hien: I’ve heard that in Egyptian myth, Pinedjem was a god who sailed in a boat through time between the past and future, ruling over time. Am I going to be riding on this boat…!?
(TN: There really isn’t a Pinedjem “god”…not that I know of being not an Egyptologist; but there is a possibility that, based on certain matters, he is more tied to the Egyptian god Horus, the falcon-faced god who controls the movement of the sun and, therefore, controls time. We saw a sarcophagus with the appearance of a bird which Pinedjem emerged from and even had a notable legend where he used a well-disguised boat to defeat desert god Set…so I think somehow that the best way to approach him is that his name is based on the pharaoh Pinedjem…but his power is possibly Horus'...then again, we may actually meet the actual Horus soon enough so let's just say it's an Otokojuku-ism that there is a god, his name is Pinedjem and he can travel through time)
Toramaru: What’s that: he’s covered in a slightly dirty cloak and we can’t even see his face.
Togashi: Don’t be concerned by that, Hien!! Skewer that guy with your prided Kakushi Senbon---!!
Pinedjem: Fufufu: we shall take a ride.
Pinedjem: And our destination will be death………!!
80.
Pinedjem: P – S OUGI: HIEROGLYPH OF GIZA!!
(TN: 1. “Giza no Hieroglyph” = “Hieroglyph of Giza”, with the kanji translating into “Holy Garment of Eyes”)
2. Just to make sure I get it in: hieroglyph are graphical figures used as a writing system; though notable in many civilizations from Sumeria to Mexico to even Chinese (and Japanese) kanji, it is the Egyptians who are the most notable and acknowledged for the hieroglyph and it is usually in conjunction with them.
3. Giza, as I mentioned before, is the plateau near Cairo where many of the most notable ancient structures, including the pyramids and the Sphinx, are located. It is also the location of a suburb of Cairo, which is stated by many as tied for the second-largest suburb in the world. [tied with Incheon, South Korea and Quezon, Philippines, only eclipsed by Yokohama, Japan])
Hien: !!
81.
Pinedjem: Lapses in memory come to be completely forgotten………!! But people are all sorrowful animals who can’t live without dragging along their past…
Hien: Mu!?
Togashi & Toramaru: What: he widened his cloak and it started to rotate---!!
Hien: ………………That strange pattern drawn on the inside of that cloak is……………!!
82.
Hien: What is this odd sensation…!? It’s as if I’m being sucked into the pattern of the rotating cloak………!!
Hien: Even if I part my eyes from it, I can’t go without staring at it.
Voice: HIEN
Hien: !!
83.
Hien: Wh…who is it: that voice that’s calling me………..!?
Swirling voices: HIEN HIEN HIEN HIEN HIEN HIEN HIEN HIEN HIEN HIEN
Hien: It’s warm and nostalgic…yes, that voice is………!!
“Voice”: HIEN!!
Hien: Huh!!
84.
“Master”: You’ve regained consciousness, Hien.
Hien: Huh!!
“Master”: You lost yourself when you didn’t avoid my lunge. You still don’t have enough training yet.
Hien: This…is crazy: y…you’re……………!! Ryuukai Roushi, my kenpou master…………!!
Ryuukai Roushi: Fuohhohho: your senses are still hazy. Well, we should continue your training: the way to your fist is still very, very far.
Hien: ………………!!
85.
Hien: WH…WHAT---!!
Hien: What’s going on here………!? This is Sourin Temple on Mt. Tenhou, where I once trained!!
(TN: There really is no Mt. Tenhou or "Tenhouzan", but in this case it translates to "heavenly phoenix"; while "Sourinji" or "Sourin Temple" = "Frost Woods Temple")
TN: Yeah, leave it to Hien to use his female popularity to get Togashi and Toramaru girlfriends...fat chance it may work but at least he has the mind to do such a thing. (probably goes out amidst all his training...and knitting) On the other hand...the less said about my nightmare dealing with Pinedjem, the better. There may actually be a Pinedjem god but all I found was Pinedjem the pharaoh of southern Egypt, which has little to nothing to do with any of the god pantheon of Egypt. I almost did want to use him in conjunction fully with Horus but... I have to use a disclaimer because while some aspects of Horus appear here, other aspects may appears sooner or later! But heck, we should worry less on what god Pinedjem is...or isn't...and more about Hien's predicament.
