It seemed like Omegaman's power was out of commission, but thanks to a little assistance by Super Phoenix, he is about to make the scariest transformation yet...one that Suguru may have the worst of times dealing with!

Chapter 376: Scramble for the Kinniku Throne (103): An Ironic Teacher/Student Showdown!

87.
Suguru: Owa~~~I’m presently getting my hands burned just with Team Phoenix presently and yet you chose this earth-staggering monster~~~! You betrayed me, Yudetamago~~~!!
Choujin Caption: THE SAIBORG
KINNIKUMAN AWARD (8TH CHOUJIN RECRUITMENT FIRST PRIZE)
(TN: It’s a bit of a pun: “Sai” is Japanese for “rhinocerous” and it plays off “cyborg”)
Card caption: The postcard sent by Nakamura-kun
Side Caption: 8TH CHOUJIN RECRUITMENT GREAT ANNOUNCEMENT

88.-89.
Robin: With our casualties appearing one after another now, the Idol Choujin Corp has come to need ready fire power for them, even this means recruitment. First you’ll be left at Terryman’s dojo in Texas and study diligently.
ROBIN MASK AWARD: 5 MEMBERS (IDOL & JUSTICE CHOUJIN GROUP)
(clockwise from top left)
-PANTOMIMER
-KILLER ARABIAN
-THE ADAMS
-YASHAMU
-GORGEOUSMAN

Kamehame: They’re rare in being steady in wrestling philosophy, even with their youth. If I can have them follow along with their training immediately, then they should be raised as strong fighters who don’t compromise in transcending justice and evil.
PRINCE KAMEHAME AWARD: 3 MEMBERS (VETERAN CHOUJIN GROUP)
(left to right)
-ANIMAL MAN
-APOLLONMAN
-WIZARDMAN

Phoenix: Fufufu…there are still this many villains scattered through the universe…in the event that I win against Kinnikuman and become Great King of Planet Kinniku, they’ll accompany me as underlings and build up a Great Brutal Choujin Association!
SUPER PHOENIX AWARD: 11 MEMBERS (BRUTAL VILLAIN CHOUJIN GROUP)
(top to bottom, left to right)
-CHISOUMAN (“chisou” = “Stratum”)
-GHOST MELODIAN
-THE FLOWERDUST
-THE MONSTER
-MUSASHI
-KIRINMAN (“Kirin” = “mythological Japanese beast”)
-SHIMAOU
-SNAKER KING
-MISTER F.C. (assumable “F.C.” = “Famicom”)
(The last is about two others who also receive the Super Phoenix award, since I don’t list names of creators, I didn’t TL that part)

(TN: So…do any of these guys seem familiar to you? In particular…to those who have read Kinnikuman Nisei? Well…for those who forgot, this is the list of new created Choujin used by Yudetamago not for Kinnikuman…but for the sequel series Kinnikuman Nisei! While you really can’t say too many of these got any real fame or notability that are listed here, a few did actually go somewhere:
-The Saiborg was shown in an early Nisei movie as well as in the V-Jump Nisei manga as an early enemy for Mantaro
-Killer Arabian (Samu), The Adams, Gorgeousman, Pantomimer, Animal Man (Barbarian) and Apollonman were all part of the initial class Mantarou was a part of…even if we saw him more with Terry the Kid, Gazelleman and Seiuchin
-Mantarou faced Wizardman (Bone Killer) and Snaker King (Anaconda) early on in the Nisei pilot as d.m.p. minions
-Meanwhile, Kirinman and Shimaou were two of the main d.m.p leaders and even The Flowerdust and Yashamu became their fighters (even if Sunshine sort of overruled them)

So…yeah, maybe they’re not the next Neptuneman or Ramenman but…at least a few of these guys saw the light of day…even if it was close to 10 years later)

90.
Announcer: Omegaman has exposed his Metamorphoses Ray to the image of Prince Kamehame imagined by Kinnikuman---!!
Phoenix: Fuhahaha: the preparations are OK: we’ll be watching an amusing show from here.

91.
Omega: Guoo…
Omega: So…some tough power I haven’t had until now…
“Omega”: Is swelling up………
“Kamehame”: In my body…
Announcer: The image of Kamehame that was over Kinnikuman’s head has disappeared; and in it’s place, Omegaman’s body is rapidly changing into the body of Kamehame, which was taken out by the Metamorphoses beam!
Neptune: It disappeared…Kamehame’s image!!
Announcer: Kinnikuman, who was floating in mid-air in the state of hypnosis, has had his image of Kamehame vanish and has collapsed to the canvas!!

92.
Neptune: Kinnikuman!!
Suguru: Oh…ooh—Neptuneman, I was asleep for a short time and had this dream…
Suguru: ……N!? Wh…who is that? You’re not Phoenix or Omegaman…
Suguru: The person standing there is---!?
“Kamehame”: It’s been a while, Kinnikuman.
Suguru: Ma…Master Prince Kamehame!!
Suguru: I thought you just died in the Space Tag-Team League matches, but how are you alive---!?

93.
Neptune: Kinnikuman, Prince Kamehame, your former master, is dead; he’s not your master Kamehame---!!
Suguru: What!?
Neptune: He’s an imitation Kamehame that Omegaman transformed into by firing his Metamorphoses ray to an image you imagined!! In other words, Prince Kamehame is the Choujin that you hate the most and the enemy that has been prepared for defeating you----!!
Suguru: My…master Kahmehame has appeared once again so he could defeat me…

94.
“Kamehame”: Fuo—fuofuo…though I say this is a student-teacher meeting after a long time, this is unfortunate Kinnikuman…
Suguru: This isn’t unfortunate or anything, Omegaman. Conversely, I thank you for having me meet with Master.
“Kamehame”: What!?
Suguru: You’ve transformed into Prince Kamehame, the only Choujin who completely knocked me down in my life of Choujin wrestling, but I’m not the Kinnikuman of the no-good Choujin days who was defeated by Master Kamehame in Hawaii 6 years ago anymore!!
Suguru: Master Kamehame! The 48 Killer Techniques I was taught by you were naturally became the base and improved; perfected into the Three Great Original Holds:
Suguru: The Kinniku Buster, Kinniku Driver and Muscle Spark! Now I’ll fight you once again and clear up my loss…

95.
Suguru: Six years ago…
Suguru: Owa!!
Announcer: Kamehame has easily avoided the punch and now gone into a dreaded Armpit-Lock Submission!!
(TN: I’m not really that much into wrestling so the terms may not go as well as I expect, but this in Japanese is “wakigatame”, which I made at this point as “Armpit-Lock”)
Suguru: O…owa—it’s…like a electric wave is running into my arm.
Neptune: His legs—kick his leg and escape--!! If you don’t, he’ll break your arm---!!

96.
Suguru: Right!
Announcer: Kinnikuman has somehow escaped---!!
“Kamehame”: Uwa!!
Suguru: Uh~~I wasn’t taught this Armpit-Lock technique at all, Master---!!
Suguru: Uoo—if you’ve come to that, then here’s Killer Muscle Technique No. 1: Kinniku Buster---!!

97.
Suguru: ……!?
Announcer: But Kamehame has nimbly taken Kinnikuman’s arm, escaping from the Kinniku Buster stance!!
Announcer: Conversely, Kinnikuman is screwed into a Modified Wing-Break Lock, another submission---!!

98.
Omega: Hehehe, amazing: I can see through all of the techniques Kinnikuman sends out and smoothly return the technique in the instant the body moves due to Kamehame’s body being my own.
Phoenix: Fufufu…as expected for just being the Choujin admired as the star of Hawaii and who once defeated Kinnikuman.
Phoenix: Perhaps I won’t have to go out and act and this guy could maybe defeat Kinnikuman.
Announcer: With this, Kinnikuman will have all the bones in his body in pieces---!!
Suguru: Ugugu…Th…this technique wasn’t in the 48…Ki…Killer Techniques I was taught by Kamehame either…
Neptune: Kinnikuman, do a somersault. You’ll escape from the technique by doing a somersault!!

99.
Announcer: Kinnikuman has obeyed Neptuneman’s adviced and escaped with a somersault---!!
Suguru: Master Kamehame, at that time six years ago, you said that instruct to me all of the techniques you possessed so I could win against Hawaii Champion Jessie Malvia: those are now the 48 Killer Technqiues that I use!!
Suguru: But just those starting techniques such as the Armpit-Lock and Modified Wing-Break Lock weren’t in the 48 Killer Technqiues that I was taught 6 years ago!!

100.
Suguru: Master Kamehame, didn’t you instruct to me all of your techniques---!!
“Kamehame”: Fu, you’re soft Kinnikuman. All of my own skill in this thing called wrestling is a thing that has to be revealed, no matter how much you’re my favorite pupil!
Suguru: What---!?
“Kamehame”: Let me tell you: in truth, there are 100 skills in my Killer Kamehame Techniques: the 48 Killer Techniques is part of it and by adding the 52 Submissions to them, you’ll have 100 skills of the Complete Killer Kamehame Techniques!!
Suguru: The…there are still 52 Submissions other than the 48 Killer Techniques---!!

101.
“Kamehame”: At the time you fought Jessie Malvia; I favorably judged you, a Choujin who hated practice like you that couldn’t easily remember a simple submission, as a partner who could win even without using the 52 Submissions, which are a basis for becoming stronger in a short time; with that, I thought to teach you with a focus on the 48 Killer Techniques, which can be applied flashily and instantly in combat.
“Kamehame”: However, I was glad I didn’t teach the 52 Submissions to you…because thanks to Phoenix and Omegman, I, who had gone to that world once, have been revived once again as such and Kinnikuman, who is a candidate for the Great King of Planet Kinnikuman and within the attentive watching of this large audience, will be trifled with like twisting the hand of a baby.
“Kamehame”: I’ll defeat you with my old age and once again my desire of reigning over the Choujin world once again will be lifted up after many years.

102.
(Yeah…place-holder with Suguru)

103.
Suguru: Master Kamehame, from the time I first met you, I’ve thoroughly respected and adored you! However, as of today, I want to end our teacher-student relatio—n!!
Announcer: Kinnikuman has seized Kamehame’s arms with his own arms and thrown him away like an overhead throw----!!
Mayumi: Ooh!!

104.
Announcer: And now has formed a bridge with his own body and raising Kamehame’s body several times with his stomach---!!
Meat: Aah! That stance is the stance of the Muscle Spark, Prince’s original hold---!!
Mayumi: That Suguru has to think: if that’s the completed and still short-in-history Muscle Spark, then won’t Kamehame, who’s come back from not being infiltrated even within Choujin, have developed a plan to defeat it!!
Announcer: Well, Kinnikuman is grabbing Kamehame’s body in the air, locking into the form of a Muscle Spark---!!

105.
“Kamehame”: Hyohyohyo—with the 52 Submissions I have, it’s simple to return this technique---!!
Announcer: Kamehame is falling headlong with Kinnikuman having his arms bolted, his legs locked and can’t take a movement---!!
“Kamehame”: Kamehame Altar Drop---!!
(TN: Altar = “Butsudan”, which is “a Buddhist altar”)

106.
Bibimba: He can’t even use his Muscle Spark!!
Suguru: Uoo—Kamehame, you’ve lost your heart of Justice living in that world for a short time---!!
Neptune: Ah!!
Announcer: As he came in to help him, Neptuneman has caught his leg on one of the numberless Roulette Strings wrapping the ring---!!
Announcer: And how ironic! Far away from the Roulette String is dangling the Muscle Prophecy page of Neptuneman---!!

107.
Phoenix: Ha—hahaha: you want to save Kinnikuman, yet there is not much you can do: you’re a Choujin who can even attack due to blowing at the string tied to your own Prophecy from the numberless Roulette Strings!!
Phoenix: With that, I can economize the time for searching for your string from the numberless Roulette Strings!
“Kamehame”: Kinnikuman, I will entomb you into that world with my ultimate submission, which will include my respect and affection to you, my former beloved student!
Announcer: Team Kinnikuman is in a desperate crisis situation---!!

OMEGAMAN, WHO HAS TRANSFORMED INTO PRINCE KAMEHAME

TN: Let me just start with this: this chapter was hell. Not hell in a bad way like it was crap (there were moments but I'll get to them), but hell in translations. Apparently with so much being spoken of by Kamehame (well it could be Kamehame but it is Omegaman's body in the end regardless of who it is) and the structure of all that is involved, it nearly drove me insane in a way I haven't been tested in a long while in Kinnikuman. I swear a lot of this chapter is still badly done but it's up and...well I did my best regardless.

Now as for the chapter itself: so...is the 52 Submissions a retcon or something that Yude was hiding until it reached this point? To tell the truth it's really hard to tell, particularly with how it's covered a bit later on. In some ways it does feel interesting that there are a whole bunch of techniques that Kamehame didn't do and that we may have not seen the full story regarding him and how he fights...but on the other hand it does feel weird that we just get it now as opposed to prior to this point. I do like the idea of Suguru actually facing the only real blemish of his "serious" period as a Choujin wrestler...but of course it really didn't matter since it wasn't like Suguru ended up losing his title or any privileges losing to Kamehame way back: it just got him the skills to handle Jessie Malvia and everything after up to this point. Meanwhile I sort of feel embarrassed in how I had been translating the verb "katameru" with all the "locks" that Kamehame uses for his submission moves, but it just didn't seem to make sense until we get all the submissions here all at once.

On the other hand...did we really need the nonsense regarding Neptuneman and the Roulette Strings? I mean, that was just such stupid irony to have him find his own string accidentally...when he's essentially forced to watch Suguru and Omegaman/Kamehame play submission games...and of course Phoenix wanting to steal any advantages that he can take at this point being...well, a jerk. There is a way to build tension but somehow this is not how you do it.

BTW: I still find it funny that the very last Choujin creation contest sets up mostly the foundation for Nisei...which will be screwed up later on when more of these start up. But hey, I do sort of wished The Saiborg did get a proper usage back in "the day" in some ways.
